Pop. numbers are one of the most conveniently obtained means of discerning the game’s current state. Bungie has clearly stopped worrying over the players themselves so if communication on the forums does not work then numbers will, and numbers are a vital language to any business. Consider it like a trail of breadcrumbs. Less money is being made due to lack of game purchases, the company tries to trace it back, they see the various online criticism over said pop. numbers and they’ll eventually follow it back to the Destiny Community. If words don’t work, then wallets surely will. [spoiler]The only problem is that this only applies to a majority of folks who don’t have a variety of games to play at their convenience. Somebody like me, who has nothing else to day throughout my routine, will undoubtedly log on daily, but for those who can afford a larger game collection they will lose interest almost immediately and log on to Destiny less often.
