This contributes nothing to [i]improving[/i] Destiny 2 and somehow it's made it's way to the top of the list. I just don't get it, hardly any of it. I don't want to sound ungrateful that they are adding things but don't title the blog "The state of Desitny 2" then proceed to list things that are mostly cosmetic (emote wheel, ornaments, kill tracker on weapons--[i] I don't understand the purpose of this at all[/i]) then go on to add economy changes that would really only affect new players, and even then, only for a short time. The changes are short term and in some cases don't actually solve anything at all. [u]3 of coins[/u]? You serious? The game already spits these out like candy. The duplication mechanic that is said to be in the works will faze out the need for 3 of coins almost instantly. [u]Vendors will sell gear[/u]: Ok, that's great except if you've played for any length of time there's a high probability that there won't be anything for sale that you don't already own. Everyone knows what's good already. [u]Legendary shards[/u]: See 3 of coins and Vendor gear. Legendary Shards will still be a problem, what's being implemented doesn't really fix that. (except for mods I suppose but again, if you've played for any length of time this doesn't matter either) [u]Ornaments[/u]: There's nothing wrong with the ornaments themselves but playing for ornaments is like playing for shaders to be honest. This is an FPS, a prestige Raid will give me an ornament and emblem [i]before[/i] a special weapon or armor piece? Sorry, but that's not right. Not for the amount of work involved. [u]Iron Banner[/u]: I think this is the most valuable piece of work they did. It's great, Iron Banner became an absolute chore between the random drops and regular game weapons in the loot pool. [u]Strikes[/u]: It sounds like you'll just get extra items when you do them. That isn't bad itself but for a lot of people, that translates into additional shards, tokens, and weapon parts. If the loot pool was considerably larger than it is, the economy portion of this game wouldn't be much of an issue. Unfortunately between how generous the game is with Legendary and Exotic gear and a small number of realistically good choices in gear, the economy will be close to the same until the armory doubles or triples in size. (or new mod features) [u]Mods/Masterworks[/u]: It's a good idea but it lost its appeal at the end of that sentence: "...from a small pool..." Adding a mod to change a weapons performance is great, however, if there's only a few choices and even fewer are good, then everyone will have the exact same weapons and load-out's still. Good idea, but it will only create a false sense of diversity and for only a short time. A good majority of what suffers in Destiny 2 are [u]choices[/u]... and the need for an [i]abundance[/i] of them in all areas of gameplay. Finally, the only thing that would really shake things up (or could) would be the only thing that wasn't talked about: Sandbox changes. I think this is the most important for a lot of people going forward but we will have to wait to see what that entails. I honestly think the real changes (one's to shakes the hornets nest) won't occur until DLC 2 or possibly even in the Fall 2018 DLC ("the big one").

Personally, I thought the post was hit and miss. Masterworks weapons are a good idea, but I cannot fathom why they would waste time on an emote wheel.

Yes they are doubling down on PVP as their top priority, the exact reason the game is in the state its in now, with promises to add a few bandaids to pve along the way. Their promises will certainly improve what is possibly the worst loot based game ive ever laid eyes on...so theres that.

This game is gonna die SOOOO HARD. Too many have left that won't come back. The few that are considering coming back feel like the 'State of Destiny 2' blog was just another kick in the nuts. Let's just let it die. I was stupid enough to buy the digital edition with the season pass. Already 3 characters 305 with every exotic and every exotic weapon skin. Stopped playing about 6 weeks ago. Tried the first Iron Banner but stopped as soon as I saw it was token based random rewards that included non-iron banner loot. They have -blam!-ed up [b]EVERY[/b] step of the way this time around. I will play the 2 DLCs coz I already paid for them (so much buyer's remorse). I seriously doubt they can fix this game enough b4 DLC 3 for me to consider buying any more Bungie products. Let's just let it die.

Missed the mark? I'd say they weren't on the same continent as the mark! They're like that kid who just won't own up to doing the wrong thing no matter what.

Sounds like you want Destiny 1, so go play it.

Been playing Bungie games since myth and after all these years I am just done with their games and community and it is mainly due to their treatment of players themselves and the attitude their fanboys hold towards anyone that has a complaint or criticism. This series will never get any better because anytime they do anything remotely positive they get showered with praise and adoration, but everything bad get swept under the rug, it's just not worth it anymore.

Yep. It's a PR technique called "dated outrage". It is done to nullify and invalidate the angry group, so the masses ignore them. It works like this: 1. The players are mad. 2. The media reports on it and it puts the brand in a negative light. 3. The company makes changes so the media has to report "Bungie made changes". 4. Now, when people are mad, the supporters say "are you still mad about that? They made changes, stop whining!" Bungie is hoping that the media is too lazy to go back and follow up in the changes, and won't point out that the changes didn't actually fix the root causes. 5. The players point out the changes were superficial and actually fixed nothing, but are disregarded and ignored by the fan boys as "disgruntled, spin foil hat crazies". 6. The core players get frustrated and eventually leave and stop complaining. 7. The average casual ignorant consumer says "Destiny huh? I heard there was some drama, but then I heard they made changes" and buys the game. 8. 30 hours later that new customer realizes how shallow destiny 2 is, and a new angry customer is born. 9. Bungie doesn't care because they just made a new sale. You'd be amazed by how often this tactic works in business and politics. The end result though is a slow death. The best of Bungie get frustrated and leave to work elsewhere. The core fans and customers leave to pay other games and the franchise slowly dies. The bungie today, is not the same bungie that made halo.

You really think that the update, which drops in less that a week could have fixed all issues of the community. do you think ingame features are growing on trees and are easy to get? not really. i expect bungie to overhaul the game with the second expansion. its just to little time to fix the game till CoS. so i give bungie a chance and wait till the rasputin dlc which will be release sometime in Q1 of 2018. if that fails to solve most of the communitys issues then we all have a right to bit ch and complain about bungie's game. for now we have to play the waiting game and keep reminding the Dev's(in a non insulting way) what needs to be fixed in the months to come. if some of you dont have the necessary patience for this process, just leave the game and maybe come back when stuff is getting fixed.

Funny/sad/-blam!-ed up, story, someone broke into my house and [b]left[/b] 2 copies of d2.... They didn't take anything. Idk I want to be more pissed off about, the fact that they broke my window and didn't take anything, or the fact that they left two unopened copies of destiny 2.
