A server is more than a simple host for a game - a server needs maintenance even if you change nothing to the game itself. It has an operating system, applications, drivers and firmware. That all may or may not need updates and patches.

D2 servers have been offline for a month. Im still waiting for the actual content to drop.

Are we sure they're actually using servers? As shit as my connection usually is I wouldn't be surprised to find out we're actually using p2p 😂

What bothers me most is the weekly maintenance and I still get game crashes and error codes multiple times a day. I don't mind the down time but can you please use it to make my game playable?

Many of the comments in response are correct. It's not a huge deal. There are other things to do. None of this detracts from the fact that there are a good many companies out there that plan their maintenance to affect the least number of people, to have separate server farms that can be brought offline at appropriate times or they rotate those maintenance windows so as not to repeatedly affect one geography. Bungie, to date has not been capable of, or more likely not willing to, these ideals. The argument that they are an American company doesn't really hold much water when there are thousands of Americans out there that, like our developers and It staff over here regularly work outside of hours. When you consider that the vast majority of players are in school or work most of the day Bungie hits about 85 to 90% uptime which is way below industry standards. They did finish their downtime ahead of schedule this week and that should be commended. That's not usually the case for them.

Play another game during the downtime. Simple.

This ranks pretty low on the list of things that should bother people.

If the servers were down from 5pm-10pm est USA, I would: eat dinner, go to a bar(yay happy hour), hang out with friends, watch tv, exercise, smoke some bud and listen to tunes. I'd do almost anything and everything EXCEPT cry in a forum about how unfair it is that a VIDEO GAME is offline due to maintenance. My original post was meant to be comedic. Yes I admit that I threw salt on the original posters wound and a lil bit of lemon juice. But the rest of you with all your hurt feelings only proved me right. You are all self centered, world caters to you, selfish human beings. All of your parents dos a terrible job at raising you. So -blam!-ing what, you spent $65-$105 on a video game and now you think Bungie should bend to your will. Seriously, you can't find something else to do for 3 hours? Lol. I got a great idea. How about you get a bunch of UK/European coders and programmers together and create your own game. So that if/when it needs maintenance, it can be scheduled during your best down time. How can you expect a USA based company, to cater specifically to your time zone? We're not paying a monthly fee to play Destiny. We're not donating money to Bungie. We're not pitching in to help with the servers, game, or any kind of maintenance that is needed. It's not life or death. No one is holding a gun to your head saying: Get all milestones completed today after the weekly reset or we'll kill you, your family, your friends, your dog, goldfish, birds, and seals. Several ideas to ease your pain. 1) Move to the USA 2) Play another game 3) Read a book 4) Watch a movie/tv 5) Hang out with your friends/family 6) Have sex with your significant other 7) Have sex with yourself 8) Exercise 9) Take a nap 10) Pet a goat 11) Pet yourself 12) Reflect on your life choices 13) Meditate 14) Have sex with yourself again 15) Go back to work/school 16) Pet a duck 17) Pet yourself again 18) Cry, until you have literally cried a river 19) Go find Waldo 20) Do ANYTHING except, posting on a forum about a scheduled maintenance that you knew was going to happen because Bungie was kind enough to let us all know that it was going to happen and it's been happening since the original release of Destiny over three years ago. 21) Quit playing Destiny if you can't go 3-24 hours without playing a game because you're a needy little baby that pisses his/her undies when things that are completely out of your control and don't specifically cater to your emotional narcissistic ego maniacal sense of self.
