I understand this is likely a wall put in place to limit our light level progress to make us play longer, but what it will also do is make people like myself choose between playing higher level activities with weapons they don't like or aren't good with vs. Not doing those activities since the weapons we do like aren't dropping at higher levels.
It seems like a petty complaint, but it really kills my enjoyment of the game. Dont get me wrong, Destiny 2 is great and so far this hasn't been a huge issue for me yet because I've gotten mostly lucky. But if I don't get higher level auto rifles to infuse my Hardlight/ Scathelock, I may be forced into using guns I don't find fun to use just to get into the raid. It feels like poor design to me.
Again, I love Destiny 2, and it is much better than Destiny 1, but this artificial wall seems really crappy to me.
Edit: Wow this blew up. Just a side note: I do not mind the light grind, in fact, I enjoy it! What I DO mind is being forced into using weapon archetypes that I do not enjoy using just to raise my light level. In Destiny 1, you could transfuse like weapon categories into each other regardless of type (primary, special, heavy). I would love for that to come back. Yes, I know you can infuse energy and kinetic into each other if they are the same weapon type, that's not the issue. My issue is I can't transfuse my 279 Graviton Lance (or as I call it, the Hot Garbage) into my 271 Hardlight. To reach my highest possible light level, I am forced to use weapons I hate. THAT, to me, is poor design.
-
Well to be fair you do get "double" the drop rate. Because all "primary" weapons drop in both the Kinetic and Energy slot. I never found it a problem, but you are right in that it is limiting.
-
4 RisposteI kinda like it. It forces me to use other guns. But cuz of the higher damage, I get higher drops so eventually I get what I need. Course by then I've found a new favorite😉
-
I love me some handcannons, but the game seems to give me higher level autos and pulses, really haven't seen more than one scout. I wish I could infuse like before, but I get the need to keep things at a slower pace. I despise using autos and they're all I seem to get. THE DESTINY KNOWS!!!!
-
3 RisposteThis seems like one of those problems that will get patched in the future in a quality of life update no doubt. Almost like Bungie knew this would upset the players and once again will put them in a good light for when they choose to fix the infusement method, like they have done countless times in the past.

Yeah the game keeps giving me high light level hand cannons and sidearms, the 2 weapons I will never use as they are pretty useless in PvE.
-
9 RisposteThis is hilarious. Now you want more grind. You guys are just idiots
-
9 RisposteI know. I'd be 280 if I could just infuse this garbage Wardcliff Coil into my shotgun.
-
2 RisposteI think it's meant to encourage us to try different weapon types.
-
All the improvements that were made in D1 got scrapped I guess?
-
Modificato da SwankyButters: 9/10/2017 5:29:51 PMYeah, I always thought it would be GREAT to infuse the first piece of gear I'm giving at the start. The crappy bland one and power it up. So I look like a green horn but I'm powered to the max. What if I like the plan ugly starter set. I should be able to keep it and infuse it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and they take that beauty away from us. Let us do what we want bungie.
-
I actually enjoy this infusion system because it gives me something to do.
-
4 RisposteShould have existed in D1... Also I've barely touched this game and I'm fully stocked with Legendaries. It's too generous as far as I'm concerned.
-
It's the only solution they could think of for fixed rolls on guns. We will just keep infusing yo the same type of gun with all the extra ones we get.
-
Agreed.

1 RispondiModificato da Seraph: 9/10/2017 4:07:32 PMYeah, I'm not a fan of the current set up. I'd love to infuse my 155 Sunshot that I got during the campaign to make it relevant again but I can't find any hand cannons to infuse it with. This and the Shader issue are my two biggest gripes about Destiny 2 ( so far ).
-
More like overwhelming
-
The problem is that you'd be able to infuse any gun into another gun
-
1 RispondiI agree, but what bothers me more is losing power when putting an exotic into a legengary, but gain extra power when upgrading them. I would be around 285 if it didn't do that..now I am stuck at 278 til reset.

The system can be a little frustrating, but I haven't really worried about what weapon type I am using. Most guns have about the same effectiveness in PvE, which is about all that I am playing atm. Sure, ARs are better at closer ranges and Scouts are better at longer ranges, but everything except for SMGs and Siderams are effective at mid range, which is where I play from most of the time, so I just switch weapons if I feel a low power weapon is holding me back, even if I really like it. Ultimately, here are so many good guns in this game that I really don't mind using a new one every few hours.

2 RisposteModificato da Madman Asunder: 9/10/2017 4:19:33 PMafter taking another night to think on this. Destiny also has a bad habit of picking the weapon type for you for you. I actually really wanted to rock an energy handcannon (a primary pistol has just never felt right to me, I want a rifle in my primary slot). I played a ton. no energy hand cannon common, rare, or legendary (I got side arms, but no handcannons). I actually concluded they must not be in the game. I then looked at a friends gear and he had a rare hand cannon in energy. A day later he had a legendary hand cannon in energy. At light level 267 I finally got a rare energy hand cannon to drop. Just seems kinda crazy that rng could prevent me from having a weapon type (not specific weapon) I was interested in for that long.

Sign me up. New infusion system stinks
-
7 RisposteIt really hurts people who love the feel of just 1 gun type. I like pulse rifles. I'm 271 but I could be higher if I equip this auto rifle and scout rifle that I have that is a higher light level. But I don't want to use a scout rifle, I suck with scout rifles.
-
Thats why you have weapon mods now and limited shaders. I love both destiny games but somehow i like 1 better the game dynamics were better. 2 looks better and has a good lead on story buttttttt. They changed things that shouldnt have been touched. LOL
-
2 RisposteI do not mind the setup. I get plenty of items to drop and have no issues leveling up my items. There are worse issues they can fix.

I didn't read your post and I don't care, I just want Jade Rabbit back
