I understand this is likely a wall put in place to limit our light level progress to make us play longer, but what it will also do is make people like myself choose between playing higher level activities with weapons they don't like or aren't good with vs. Not doing those activities since the weapons we do like aren't dropping at higher levels.
It seems like a petty complaint, but it really kills my enjoyment of the game. Dont get me wrong, Destiny 2 is great and so far this hasn't been a huge issue for me yet because I've gotten mostly lucky. But if I don't get higher level auto rifles to infuse my Hardlight/ Scathelock, I may be forced into using guns I don't find fun to use just to get into the raid. It feels like poor design to me.
Again, I love Destiny 2, and it is much better than Destiny 1, but this artificial wall seems really crappy to me.
Edit: Wow this blew up. Just a side note: I do not mind the light grind, in fact, I enjoy it! What I DO mind is being forced into using weapon archetypes that I do not enjoy using just to raise my light level. In Destiny 1, you could transfuse like weapon categories into each other regardless of type (primary, special, heavy). I would love for that to come back. Yes, I know you can infuse energy and kinetic into each other if they are the same weapon type, that's not the issue. My issue is I can't transfuse my 279 Graviton Lance (or as I call it, the Hot Garbage) into my 271 Hardlight. To reach my highest possible light level, I am forced to use weapons I hate. THAT, to me, is poor design.

1 RispondiWow. People always find a way to complain about a good video game. Stop whining and enjoy the fact that you are able to play games

2 RisposteModificato da AirierChart09: 9/10/2017 10:06:35 PMWell, if you're equipping your highest power level gear in order to level up and you don't like those weapons, don't use them. The new loot system grants you gear that is higher than the average of your highest gear on your character, you don't have to equip that gear in order to get higher gear. For instance, you can get a 190 mark at 170 power level. For this reason I'd recommend you not to infuse gear unless there's a huge light lvl gap. The gap between your hard light and graviton lance is noticeable, but not that significant, with a gap that small/big I wouldn't use graviton lance just because it's a tad higher. Yes, I know the raid is coming but I'm sure you'll get plenty of auto rifles you'll be able to infuse into your hardlight.
-
3 RisposteWait until you see that you can't use a different class set of armor to infuse. You can't infuse a warlock helmet into a titan helmet for example.
-
I kinda like it.
-
3 RisposteHey, It gives us more grind and replayability (i guess). And when you think about it, it doesn't make sense that putting the weapon parts of a fusion rifle into a shotgun would make it better. Besides, the game hasn't been out for a week and I think every veteran has trouble dealing with one of the changes. Just calm your tits and spend your time having fun with a video game that you paid for instead of whining around like you are self entitled to everything.
-
2 RisposteMy highest primary is a sidearm :(
-
4 RisposteI like the slower progression
-
2 RisposteWait, you don't like the graviton Lance? That is my favorite weapon so far. It is so cool and really effective in both pve and pvp.
-
1 RispondiBeing unable to infuse different types of weapons wouldn't be a problem if 99% of gear you got wasn't below you light when you 270+ I'm mean I got ten exotics today 4 were a high light than what is was but two of them were from quests and the other two were only higher because of a mod you can't make until your 280 the point you don't need legendary mods any more
-
I had fun grinding for a grenade launcher to infuse into my Prospector.
-
10 RisposteAgree.... also it appears that infusion is on a percentage again.... infused a 266 scout into a lower level one and got a 261.... they fixed this issue in d1 but aparantly decided it was liked too much...
-
Isn't this what people asked for? Remember all the the "too easy" and "casualization" posts following the April Update and Rise of Iron?
-
I generally agree with this. It's a cheap way to lengthen the grind, like back during TTK when infusion wasn't 100%. That got fixed, let's hope this does too.
-
yes this is annoying, also if i want to compare an auto rifle in primary slot to one in secondary slot you have to keep hovering over them to see stats as the compare function doesnt work to see which is better. theres no point in comparing a hand cannon to an auto rifle
-
2 RisposteI hate having to use hand cannons. I'm not good with them. But it just so happens that my exotic Sturm dropped at 283, while my next highest kinetic weapon is only 266. There's a huge gap there and in order to play at a high power level I need to use the Sturm. I'd rather just infuse it into an auto or scout rifle, but it can only go into other hand cannons. So I'm trapped using it in my loadout until I can somehow bring my overall power up over 10 more levels...
-
So. Many. PULSE RIFLES!!!!!!!! +1 for truth.
-
20 RisposteHow about the fact that we can't use armor items from other classes to infuse on alt characters?? Surprised no one is making a big deal about this.
-
Modificato da NonleadedBark8: 9/10/2017 8:30:49 PMI hate I can't use titan gear to infuse my warlock stuff. Ridiculous! Had I known that I would of made a second titan and said screw diversity. I always liked having 1 of each class but apparently bungie doesn't want us to switch it up and would rather we all play only 1 class, atleast if you want to make the most of each weekly activity. Thanks bungie! You should let people know this kind of crap. There is no way for us to find this out until we completely level a new toon. Had the armor saved and ready to be used for infusion. Guess I will have 2 titans and 1 warlock until bungie decides to change this stupid decision. This won't stop people from progressing, it will however make people only play 1 class. Back to vanilla destiny 1 all over again.
-
Wait till you realize that you can't infuse different class' gear as well (i.e. you can't infuse a Lock gear piece with a Titan gear piece). We're back to the good old D1 days where everyone just made 3x characters all the same class. HUGE step backwards!
-
OH WAIT... THIS d2 NOT TAKEN KING... OOPS
-
My literal reaction when I couldn't infuse across gun types: "why does Bungie hate fun?"
-
yeah RIGHT, LETS MAKE AN AUTO RIFLE AS STRONG AS A LEVEL 40 ROCKET LAUNCHER

-
Modificato da LgitBruceWillis: 9/10/2017 7:04:39 PMThe way i see it, its kinda necessary for the current kinetic/energy/power weapon setup. Before it was primary/secondary/heavy with infusing staying in those groups. Now you can infuse a primary into a secondary and vice versa. If we had both the grind to level weapons would be zero in a game that at least for me has been fairly generous. I actually like it because it actually makes a bit more sense though to have to have a "like" weapon. But that's just my humble opinion. With the system that calculates drops on your highest "potential" setup in that class...it will never take a ridiculous amount of time to obtain a higher light infusable weapon
-
Well to be fair you do get "double" the drop rate. Because all "primary" weapons drop in both the Kinetic and Energy slot. I never found it a problem, but you are right in that it is limiting.
