How are people okay with this while we increase our defense spending?
Edit: To clarify, this is merely a proposal. Doesn't mean it will all pass.

Modificato da Commander Tempu: 5/19/2017 10:05:37 PMWhite house makes suggestions but are not the ones in charge of policy or funding. Congress is, so many people are dismayed at the presidents suggestions. Besides fixing Health Care they have a once in a generation opportunity to fix the tax system. I watched C-span last night and it made me realize how our tax code is broken in this modern economy. We need our tax system to help all people from all walks of life in the modern age so big business small business and family's can get the education they need to work unfilled jobs in the market so big business can compete in the global market. Tax cuts are short term and we need permanency on our tax code. This will benefit education directly and indirectly in many ways and allow america to remain educated and really allow us to invest not only in ourselves but our community's. This needs to happen now. It will help incomes and peoples ability to not only purchase products to drive our economy but allow people to open small business. Big businesses not talking about the rich or super rich here. Are in desperate need of workers at all levels. In some areas we have made it harder to get an education and have no jobs waiting for those people. Education Taxes and Medical i hope do get fixed but Tax cuts for the rich like the Trump plan suggests helps no one. People need to be able to reinvest into themselves business and america. Just a few things i was thinking about. All things are interconnected. We all need one another and the tax code fix is a comprehensive bi partisan effort. A balanced tax code and ways to pay for it. Our tax code should allow people to re invest in education and businesses to invest in themselves to create jobs that are long term so every single person benefits from it. Might be trade offs but if done right this means that a more streamlined tax system will allow America to invest in its self and we will be stronger for it. No holy grail one shot method is going to work. We need to make sure those who represent us have people from all walks of life. So i hope you all watch the hearings on the tax reform as that will be the first step in helping education.

1 RispondiModificato da The Cellar Door: 5/22/2017 5:52:26 AMSo, let's take a step back and think about this for one second. The student loan debt is around $1.2 Trillion dollars. That isn't going to disappear. Don't tell me that students should pick better majors, that they shouldn't go to college if they can't afford it, any stupid shit like that that avoids the problem entirely. There's a $1.2 trillion dollar debt that isn't going to disappear through a "should've/could've" argument. That's not how economics works FYI. Furthermore, this debt is only going to increase exponentially as less subsidies are provided and more people go to college. Now whether or not you believe govt subsidies are good or bad is regardless, because the debt is going to grow. I don't care if you think funding education is bad because you're uneducated. My point is that the debt isn't disappearing, and it is growing. Now this debt is, of course, mainly focused around younger people. This is going to keep happening. So, generations upon generations will be continue being burdened with this debt, that isn't disappearing, and is growing. Where will you be when the bubble pops?

5 RisposteOut of the main class everyone at my school was forced to take, science was the only useful one. Cut funding for English or math I'm never going to use instead.

6 RisposteWhy does any of it matter? The state spends vast amounts of wealth on education and still sucks at it. It also spends vast amounts of money on war, yet we are not safer and the Middle East is no more stable. Stop throwing stolen money at problems you don't want to deal with.
-
See the earth is going to be flat and it already is.
-
4 RisposteGood. Maybe people will actually think seriously about what they choose to study now instead of wasting their parents hard earned money because they're too much of a deadbeat to get a job themselves so they just hide at college and pretend they're getting a useful education
-
-blam!- no, education is all there is in life. Needs money to function well.
-
They wont LEARN from this

2 RisposteI am ok with it, I really want my kids living with me until I die & stealing all my bandwidth.....
-
5 RisposteWe spend way too much on public education to begin with. Instead of fixing the system they just throw more at it.
-
I love all government spending cuts
-
6 RisposteYou don't need a college degree to work in a coal mine, and in the glorious Trump empire everyone will be a coal miner. Coal is the future!
-
7 RisposteBecause the quality of our education system isn't determined by the amount of money we throw at it.

1 RispondiIt is financially impossible to give all 320 million Americans a decent college educated job. The 1% wouldn't be able to exist which means no new businesses can form either which ultimately leads to mass unemployment and poverty for everyone. The way it was supposed to work is 2nd and 3rd generation families get access to college and great jobs while new immigrants take shitty work because even that shitty job pays better than elsewhere in the world. However all these new immigrants are pissed that's how it works and wants to skip the low income working ladder that everyone else had to go through. This is why conservatives don't want socialism. The whole point of moving to America is to further your legacy not automatically get more money at the expense of established hard working Americans.

2 RisposteDoesn't the school mismanage the money they get anyways?
-
Leaked? Hasn't the budget proposal been posted on .gov?
-
1 RispondiMe neither, but I'm a fan of entire crowds of people turning their backs on Betsy DeVoss when she tries to give speeches

We should be doing the converse. At this rate, We'll be heading closer to what Plato and Socrates feared would be the result of democracy.
