• There's a lot of talk for some reason pitting evolution against religious beliefs and what not, so I decided to pull up Scripture and check it out for myself..turns out the Bible doesn't dismiss evolution, it simply acknowledges God as a primary Creator of sorts, initiating or directing evolution, while natural material is the actual vehicle for change. Turns out, evolution is inherently contained in Scripture (Gn 4:1-2; Gn 4:16-17): 1 The man [Adam] had intercourse with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, saying, “I have produced a male child with the help of the LORD.” 2 Next she gave birth to his brother Abel. Abel became a herder of flocks, and Cain a tiller of the ground....16 Cain then left the LORD’s presence and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden. 17 Cain had intercourse with his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. Cain also became the founder of a city, which he named after his son Enoch. Adam & Eve are commonly toted as the "first" man & woman, humans, but as u can see from the passage above, other humans existed as well..thats why Cain was able to bang his wife. Elsewhere, 6...but a stream was welling up out of the earth and watering all the surface of the ground— 7 then the LORD God formed the man out of the dust of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being (Gn 2:6-7). in the above passage, God used natural means to make man, which is in line with a scientific view. as u can see, God saw that a puddle of water existed on the earth's ground..it was at that very moment that He knew cells were present to make man..but since time does not exist in God, everything just reads like it happened in the blink of an eye..long story short, Adam was made from the earth aided by water, as in, changed a gazillion times until he was able to converse with God. Breathing life into nostrils is symbolic for imparting a soul..even tho Adam was formed materially of natural substance, he was endowed with communion with God..this is accomplished via intellect & will aka soul. Check out verse 19 which follows shortly after: So the LORD God formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds of the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them; whatever the man called each living creature was then its name. This is an interesting line..here, God continues to use natural means to form species (yet God wins all the credit as Creator) and brings them before man for naming..the latter part is somewhat prophetic, as it depicts reality today of evolution and science playing out - as scientists discover new species, they intelligently name them..as previously mentioned, in God, time does not exist. Back then, the ancient author didn't need to perform experiments on finches to understand evolution - the Holy Spirit simply told him that God used the earth (because eukaryotic cells had finally arrived, allowing animals to hit each other raw). Finally, in Genesis 1, God's use of natural means to create is illustrated again in similar fashion..this continues to portray God as Creator who materially spring up life forms. "Then God said: Let the water teem with an abundance of living creatures, and on the earth let birds fly beneath the dome of the sky" (Gn 1:20). In the previous verse, the water is privileged to provide the conditions for animal life, which replicates previous findings in our discussion. In the following verse, likewise, the earth is privileged to participate in the formation of animals, including man, "Then God said: Let the earth bring forth every kind of living creature: tame animals, crawling things, and every kind of wild animal...." (Gn 1:24). It is suspected that clay, montmorillonite, played a role in a type of abiogenesis process; sources suggest a link between the clay here and the dust mentioned earlier. Verse 26 is separated to emphasize God's vision for man, to be set apart from all other creatures, "Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth." Yet v26 follows shortly after v24 to lump humans in with animals categorically. So that pretty much takes care of everything.

      • A walking, talking contradiction. Whether you realize it or not, justifying your beliefs outside of holy doctrine to accommodate facts with religious beliefs is a taking a step away from religious nonsense. And step in the direction of critical and skeptical thought. (pats on head) good for you. KEEP GOING. Enlightenment awaits...

Is it so hard to believe that when God "created" man, he simply triggered and directed our evolution? Yes, I know he did it in "one day", but when you've existed for an eternity, is it too difficult to believe that a "day" for Him is millions of years to mortals? Also, I don't believe in God, thank you.

Whats great about evolution is that no one has to "believe" in it because anyone can check the fossil and biological evidence for themselves. Below is a link to Berkeley's Understanding Evolution 101 site. It starts very simple so even the most indoctrinated can get their first grasp on the subject, if theyre brave enough. http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/article/evo_01

            • If your talking about micro evolution, that's fine. If your name is Christian, you're a good b8r. But if you actually believe in Christianity and Evolution, that's as bad as believing in flat earth.

The Bible states that man was created in God's image and the animals were not. So for man to have been an animal would be contradictory. If you don't believe in the Bible, what makes you a Christian, since you have no axiom?

                          • Evolution is honestly irrelevant to Christianity. I've already explained the "paradox" of "who created matter and who created god", but as long as you know about the prophecies the bible perfectly fulfils and the answer to the "paradox", you can't really deny God's existence. There's also some fun stuff like Noah's ark and other discoveries, which was found at the exact listed location with the same dimensions listed, old animal shit was found in it, dead elephants with undigested food in places where there wasn't supposed to be elephants, I could keep going. Don't let evolution slow you down.
