Bungie needs to leave Activision

The reason we have a game that was chopped up and fed to us piece by piece is Because of Activision. Choosing profit over good gaming. Activison has to please investors, and if they don't they lose money. Here is the thing: Activision could have let Bungie work on Destiny a little longer and a delay would not be unreasonable. Corporate greed is a cancer in the industry. Investors don't care about the product. They care about making money. Its why we see CoD year on year. There's no need for it but they do it anyway. Because they make millions off it. I not against making money. Every business needs to make money. We don't need to pre-order games. This practice just fuels the fire. I wish pre-order bonuses didn't exist. This all relates to the business of profit. Are companies that uncertain of a product that they need to add happy meal toys to entice us? There's a lot i want say but i am tired. Have a good day/night

  • Just want to state this BUNGIE IS JUST A NAME If people realize that, when bungie released destiny some of their staff stayed behind to work for 343 and other developers left to other places. Hiring people completely new to the bungie team, that's why many games are different after the years. Because everyone has a different view on how things need to be done For example in the business world When airlines first came into the market offer new ways of travel, offered luxurious environment and did their best to please their customers as much as possible. Now we have what we have now because of the shift of power over these airlines. Now we have people getting tossed off planes people being treated like shit in a shitty environment. Businesses change over time either in a good way or bad way

      • Every game has it's flaws. This game has some, maybe even more than most. But it does the right things so well, that the flaws don't matter. Say what you want about they need to do this and they need to do that. Bottom line is what they are doing is working, and it's working very very well.

        • Destiny IS what Halo was supposed to be Microsoft screwed bungie over creative direction. Bungie goes to activision and gives PS the goodies. Whether Bungie wants to jump ship is up to them. Who cares.

        • I love how topics like these generate a wealth of misinformation. Let's review: 6 months before destiny's initial launch date in May of 2014, vast portions of the game's story and gameplay itself were changed to incorporate a more repeatable gaming experience that would work with the reduced amount of story content that was going to be presented. Each race was going to have its own storyline. Most of the exo storyline was used in the final product. The cabal and fallen were supposed to form an alliance and work together. Earth was supposed to be one of the last places to be fully unlocked, with multiple missions featuring cabal. There were quite a few missions planned that would involve encountering NPC characters during missions.

          • Lol no. Activision took a huge risk with Destiny, but it turned out to be greatly successful. If it hadn't, Bungie would've went bankrupt and Activision would be seen as how EA is being now with the release of Mass Effect. Bungie made the right choice of leaving Microsoft, establishing that freedom which allowed them to create Destiny. Whichever path Bungie took, the game would've been cut and sold like how it is now. Destiny itself right now is a massive game, and not splitting it up but releasing the game as a whole would be a negative financial move for the Publisher's end and Bungie. Even after all this, the game is still a bargain considering every penny spent to the amounts of hours invested. It's a win-win situation.

            • Any links or proof to back up the claim? A game developers dream is to create A game that can have the longevity with the dlc profit to support it... It allows for A vision to come to play rather than cookie cutter repetitive titles... You say activision yet this is THE only game from them that has had this success with ONE game. I.e. If you were a cod player... you would have bought 3 games with 3 expansion packs equaling more revenue than this one game. You have no clue who truly called the shots and until you can prove it... well, you are the fool.

They did work on it a little longer. A whole year longer. The original story was scrapped then pieced back together into this incoherent mess.

Everyone acting like Bungie are victims, but seem to forget that it takes two parties to go into a legal agreement like this. Also, just look at their attitudes toward just about anything when it comes to this game and their players. Almost every stream they have some shit eating grin on their faces about what they are about to push out, then at the end they are high fives and back pats, doesn't matter how bad it is. What's that though? Want something really cool? Alright well they will give it to you....in the form of micro-transactions? Updates and fixes....PFT....that only comes when they know players are at an all time low and they want to boost those number to look like they did something amazing. Oh you have an issue with lag, latency, or anything? Well prepared to be insulted and told just go play something else (by the fanboys and the staff) because they don't give a fuck about anyone's issues on this game (unless they are trial streamers of course). Also, don't forget to throw your money(TM) at Destiny 2: Cabal Boogaloo, featuring the same crappy development and sandbox teams with the same crappy attitude that will probably wind up blaming the players once again for issues they can't figure out. Bungie was well known and popular enough they could have gotten with anyone, even Sony themselves, but they sold the soul of their company for money.

            • If they left Activision, they would take MUCH longer to generate content. In Destiny 1, Activision invested $500,000 into the making of the game. They are doing their jobs as fast as they can. If they could deliver more content faster, they would. The problem is that quality content takes time to create, but the company still needs to make money, so segmented DLCs help with the steady stream of income. If Bungie were to release a HUGE standalone game, it would take years for them to create another game/sequel that has the same quality. There would be a big ass content drought. Playerbase would decrease into nothing.

              • We'll know by how much they've learned when destiny 2 comes out. I'm sure they would like to be a one stop shop and have nothing to do with a publisher but they couldn't have ponied up the cash to do something as big as destiny w/out them. At least that's the way I understand it. By destiny 3 perhaps they'll have enough money and, more importantly, enough confidence to invest their own money into it from start to finish. Bigger risk, bigger reward. They would have no constraints. Who knows if it'd be better or worse that way. I can only guess that it would be a positive thing for the end user

              • Can't happen till the contract is fulfilled. Bungie leaves now they won't even have access to destiny and they will get sued so bad they probably won't be a company anymore.

                • Agree with the CoD info. I used to play the game (it was good) but just as I was really ranking up and hitting the goals I had set for myself, they would release another version and most players would switch. I switched a couple of times and realized what was happening. Stopped playing them, picked up both Borderlands games (so good!), and the next step was Destiny. I won't be preordering D2. The regrind for weapons I already had, the lack of suitable matchmaking for single players, and the connection problems all have left me with a sour taste. But...the gameplay was SO good!!!
