Vault of Glass hidden chest - Bungie confirmed?

Tl;dr, Bungie hints at the possibility not all chests have been found. We have a raid where the first half of it is full of chests and the second half of it is so far inexplicably bereft. There is more work to do here. My full thoughts below, and then I've included a section afterwards for other established theories Everyone who played in year 1 knows that there was rumour of another chest still to be found. Bungie never confirmed whether all had been found. Yesterday on stream they confirmed that no more chests have been added for Age of Triumph. However they also said that they (the devs talking) could not confirm whether all existing ones had been found, and that only two people at Bungie were privy to where exactly all chests were finally placed, and that neither of those people would comment on this. I think there are strong hints here that there still is at least one chest to be found. Don't forget that Bungie didn't need to include this little side-conversion at all yesterday. They chose to do so. And there's simply no need to troll people on it or lead people on now at the end of this game's life, especially as only the fairly hardcore players would care. My theory remains that it has to do with killing the gorgons. The gorgons have an odd mechanic in that they can be killed, and then get stronger (complete with on-screen dialogue to tell you this), yet this mechanic is irrelevant for the raid overall. The standard way of getting through this section is to avoid them, and it would have been very easy to make them invulnerable if that's all there was to this section of the raid. But they aren't invulnerable, yet it's still massively inefficient to kill all in your path as a way of passing through this area, which makes me think there's another purpose to them getting stronger. I feel that Bungie has hinted twice now that we should be killing them: firstly because there is a grimoire card obtainable only by killing one; and secondly because in the age of triumph book there is a section to complete that is achieved by killing "all" of them. Finally, and I think most compellingly towards the fact they may be linked to a puzzle, is that the gorgons respawn. Nothing else in the raid does this, and I think the purpose to their respawning is because there is something to do with killing them in a particular order, so that if you get it wrong, you can start over. Now as to how the kill order relates to where or indeed when such a chest could be, I have no idea. I'm a firm believer that there is one out there. Just remember guys, Bungie placed particular emphasis on saying that no "more" had been added. So: There are five known chests in the Vault of Glass (this is Bungie, who puts seven of things wherever they can. You think they did five for this raid and stopped there?). One is at the entrance (materials) One is at the first area (spirit bloom) Two are between the first and second areas (one exotic, the other is a hidden chest triggered by completing the Templar fight in a certain way). And one is in the second area (materials). That leaves the third area (jumping puzzle) and fourth area (Atheon) inexplicably empty of chests, despite the other areas having them. That alone makes no sense, and additionally putting one chest in each area would give us a Bungie-friendly total of seven. Also, there is precedent for mechanics to exist to reveal hidden chests. The Templar fight is the only known example in this raid that spawns an additional chest if you do the fight in a certain way. It seems illogical that they'd decide on creating a scenerio where you can find a hidden chest, and then only do it the one time, for the whole raid, and only at the first boss. This simply makes no sense. Now my theory above revolves around the Gorgon puzzle, but I don't think the chest has to be revealed there. After all the hidden Templar chest is resolved in the Templar fight, but appears some way past it. In the raid, the relic is called the relic. But in the new nexus mind strike, it's specifically called the aegis. In greek mythology, the aegis is a shield that often bears the head of a gorgon. Perseus used a reflective shield to show a gorgon the image of itself on the shield to reflect its gaze back onto it. Why do the gorgons have a gaze multiplier debuff for each one that sees you? You still die at the same speed. Why do the gorgons get progressively tougher after each kill? (It maxes out at 3 increases in the immunity shield) Why does the door to the chest room close when you are seen by, or kill a gorgon? Why does anyone who stays inside the room as the door is closing, automatically die? Why does no-one die and the door doesn't close if the whole fireteam stays inside but shoots a gorgon outside? Thoughts, theories? Please discuss. Vault of Glass is a hobby of mine :) Progress on theories by guardians There's some "victory" tone that plays if you do it without losing a plate (skip to 3:31): https://youtu.be/FGuMuVVoesc And this is what happens if you play on hard losing a sync plate: https://youtu.be/lY6tiigVF84 Skip to 4:40 RingersCheckmate People have triggered the chest multiple times! A TON of raid teams progress through the vault, complete the necessary triggers, and do not take that one final step to getting the chest. (Consider it a race that you quit at the finish line). IT IS NOT as complicated as people make it out to be. This would eliminate unrealistic triggers like flawless runs with all Vex and raid gear. listening to the tune of the oracle, kill a gorgon with NLB etc. Drewx991, who claims inside sources. I hesitated to add this, but his other supportive posts have been well written and doesn't come across as nonsense I wish Bungie would at least confirm if there are undiscovered chests. I don't need the number, where, or how to get them. I just want them to let us know if there is a point to continuing to search for chests. adam3ros Killing all gorgons at once, with the multipliers. https://youtu.be/2-WNga7g5A4 esoterickk1 I took the aegis from the first gate before the Atheon fight, all the way back up to the gorgons, and as soon as I got there, the gorgons screamed even though none saw me, the rest of the fireteam got a message saying the relic had been dropped, and we all got lost in time and wiped. I tried this twice. The second time I got to a gorgon as we were being lost in time and fired the relic at it, as well as poppimg the shield as it screamed at me. Nothing happened and we still died. big_evil_spider I tried dropping the relic at the templar fight and killed the templar with relic dropped. No noticeable difference. big_evil_spider Also if you are on your own or a couple of u, and you seriously damage one, but do not kill it. You die, but on respawn the gorgons health remains depleted. Thus you can rinse and repeat on other gorgons - taking their health to a minimum without their strength multiplying. SickChocThunder
