I'm proud of things I actually had something to do with. I'm proud of my degree, my career, my family, and my friends. These are the things that define me as a person. Not the color of my hair, my eyes, my skin, or even the country and town I was born in. Silly shit like the that was decided for me before I was even born. I had no part in it. So taking pride in it would essentially be taking credit for someone else's work.
