This is an off topic post but i felt like i needed to share this to anybody who doesn't know much about Bungie and what they USED to do. Bungie used to do the coolest things ever. The way they would interact with their community was second to none. I am going to compile a short list of thing I remember Bungie doing to really set them selves apart from other developers.
1. In 1999 Bungie used to send cryptic messages to players from "cortana@bungie.com". The messages contained weird messages and i can not speak on if everyone got something different. The topics would be about the end of the world and other cool topics.
2. ilovebees.com. If you dont know what ilovebees.com is i suggest doing some research because i am sure that i wont do it justice. Ilovebees.com was an insane marketing tool that Bungie used. I am going to breakdown the next points on the list in regards to ilovebees.com
3. Bungie would send jars of honey with letters in them to their players. The jars of honey would contain the letters to spell out i love bees. Again, this is just something so out there that really made the players feel connected with the developers.
4. The ilovebees website. the website appeared to just be an informational website about bees. (It might still exist i havent checked). However, when you visited the website it would be as if it just got hacked and a countdown would appear.
5. the last part on this list is the best one. In the early 2000s (I dont remember the exact date) Bungie released a list of map coordinates and a specific time. Eventually someone (not me) figured out that each coordinate was a payphone and at the time the payphone would ring. If you were there to pick up the phone, you would speak to the "operator" who was actually part of a UNSC (halo) AI. Her name was Melissa.
All in all the post is just reminiscing and informing those who do not know what Bungie USED to do for their community. Bungie is stuck in a routine of posting an extremely boring "This week at Bungie" post that barely happens once a week. I am happy with the current state of the games they develop but Bungie is nothing more than a developer now which especially sucks if you remember what they used to do for the community. Let me know if there's anything im missing. Im sure there is a ton of other cool stories.
EDIT: Thanks for your feedback! I am going to add more to the list later tonight. I'm even hearing about new things!

That Bungie no longer exists is why

What like make games with content
-
3 RisposteJust saying... 1). Destiny had an ARG like ilovebees called Alpha Lupi, though it was on a much smaller scale. This was okay though, because... 2). ilovebees wasn't done by Bungie. It was orchestrated by Bungie, but cared out mostly by another company, if I remember correctly.

You can't forget about Pimps At Sea!

Modificato da Commander Tempu: 1/16/2017 8:43:56 PMWell the old Halo team that Developed stuff is retired or left bungie after the first year Destiny released. The New Order of Bungle were not ready for Destiny the way they imagined it. Apparently its biting them in the ass. I still remember them posting pics of the slingshot or just having fun. Now its blegh blegh our game.Bungle.com. Bungie does not do lots of things it did when i came here in during the Halo 3 era. To compare to before i will use a restaurant example. Before the old order would serve your table and give you a full complete experience with the meal. Now they want to charge you in piecemeal for each section of a meal. The big wig decisions to do this with help from outside has effectively put the PR into another big resteruants hands. Sure it takes time to prep new meals but also is time consuming. Demanding and Bungie has a flimsy system in place to get new additions to the menu. So the New Order is simply trying to keep up with consumer demand. While i don't claim to know all the details this is a management decision that has altered Bungie into something of a foreign entity. Simply put Bungie is not reaching for the stars any more. Its trying to reach into your wallet.

Modificato da Flee: 1/16/2017 1:06:48 PMThe weekly updates (not this current stuff), recon, Bungie v. World playlist, Bungie Day, steak dinners, heart emblems... Bungie used to be my favorite game developer by a mile. It's a shame to see what it has turned into and what a mess Destiny is.

5 RisposteBungie did not do the ilovebees arg. But it was still great ;)

There's a ton of things you're missing. However, there's just way too much to list. If you go to their old site and go through the news stories/articles you'll see what I mean.

Those cool time challenges they would do and the winner would get recon armor

Halo 3 katana
