BioShock franchise is amazing
So a year after Infinite came out I played it and loved it. Thought the story, Elizabeth and atmosphere were all great. With some very well done combat. But never played the first 2. A few weeks ago I got the BioShock Collection. And I finished the first 2 games finally and started Infinite again. And I'm in love. Each game is so fantastic. If I had to pick a worst I would say 2. Just because the story and characters weren't quite as well done. But even then it's only closely behind 1 and Infinite. I recommend anyone else who never got into the games to do so.

2 RisposteWhen Infinite came out I thought it was one of the greatest games I ever played. I'm currently playing through the remaster now and it's still an incredible game, but there are just so many things about it that frustrate me--the biggest one being the ridiculously violent nature of the game that seems mostly out of place. I get it that Columbia is starting to tear at the seams, but Jesus... It goes from 0-60 in no time and it just seems so jarring. Every time I pulled a headshot or burned someone's skin off right in front of Elizabeth, I always cringe. I mean, she's been sheltered her whole life and she suddenly abets this stranger on a ridiculously bloody rampage throughout the entire city? I don't get it. At the same time, I think I'm overly critical precisely because Columbia has to be the most beautiful game setting I've ever been in. Even years after I finished the game I still found myself thinking about it.

1 RispondiHonestly never thought B1's story was much to gawk about. You go off to help a stranger get his wife back then you seek revenge [i]for[/i] him. What's most annoying is that your character never speaks for no good reason. If they added dialogue from him like with Booker in Infinite, it would've added some character to your lifeless floating arms [spoiler]up until the huge plot twist the story was very by the numbers[/spoiler] But the immersion and the characters, atmosphere and lore are what makes the game amazing I found B2's story to be more solid. Putting you in the mind of a big daddie so you can witness the bond they have to their little sisters was something you could sink your teeth into. Especially with those alternate endings.

Now that I'm older I learned about how Andrew Ryan [spoiler]Is your dad[/spoiler] And [spoiler]the dead stripper ghost you see during an Evening with Sanders Cohen is your mom[/spoiler] Bioshock 2, I've yet to restart that cause I'm trying to 100% Bioshock's achievements, but I feel I'm going to catch more plot points I missed in the beginng. As for infinite. I really liked Murder of Crows, I'm currently still trying to figure out what the hell was that ending.

2 RispostePretty much. 1 is the best overall, with superb design in pretty much everything from narrative, atmosphere, level design, combat, AI, so much. 2 has superlative combat and overall gameplay, but lacks the atmosphere and intrigue of the original. Infinite is mechanically inferior, I'd say, because everything seems to be toned down. There isn't even a hacking minigame, for gods' sake. That said, the story is incredible and the overall tone and music are beautifully bittersweet.

I absolutely loved Bioshock 1 and Infinite. 2 was okay. Not awful, but it didnt do anything that was as impactful to me as 1 and Infinite's plot twists were.

BioShock 1 is the first game I remember playing as a kid, aside from MW2. My mom bought an Xbox 360 back when they were new and I was like 7 or 8 and I just remember having the BioShock disk in our game case and popping it in and playing it. To this day it's still my favorite game. Hands down.

(I say this as a HUGE fan of the series) I agree two was the worst, because the story went in a strange direction that didn't really match the rest of the series. Infinite's DLC (if you've played it) also alludes none to 2 in any way, as if it never happened. In 2, the devs made good improvements to the gameplay elements, but really did nothing drastic except for the addition of protecting little sisters during harvest. TLDR 2 is non-canon. 1 is a masterpiece considering the studio's funding. Infinite is a proper follow-up to 1, but the story requires attention to detail and more intelligence than I had on my first playthrough.

Sadly they 1 and 3 were one time playthroughs for me.....I liked the games, but the replay was not there. Bioshock 2 just never did it for me and I did not finish it.

Indeed. These games truly are something amazing. Infinite is one of my favourite games, I just love the dynamic between Booker and Elizabeth. Same with Eleanor and Delta. I don't know why but I really like the father/daughter dynamic. One of the reasons why I liked The Last Of Us so much.

2 RisposteModificato da PaulM1c3: 1/16/2017 4:42:22 PMFirst two were awesome, but infinte was a disappointment for me. They should have stuck to the more claustrophobic aesthetic of rapture. It helped to disguise the fact that it was a linear game. When they gave you this massive floating city to explore it was awesome, but then when you realised it was all essentially one long corridor from start to finish it took the sheen off it.

I played the trilogy a month ago for the first time and it quickly became my favourite video game series.
