Heads up: This is not a nerf post.
Remember how sniper rifles were nerfed due to their power in PvP, this affecting both PvE and PvP? Remember how they lowered damage on the One Thousand Yard Stare archetype and another lower impact archetype? Well, they've now reintroduced a sniper rifle that does what those sniper rifles did, BUT BETTER! They've reintroduced the highest impact sniper rifles into the mix, but it's only one, and it's the crucible sniper, Event Horizon. ( Also the strike exclusive Devil's Dawn, but it only has one roll. ) It does 181 base, body shot damage. It one shots players out of their supers. It can roll great perks just like the 1KYS ever got. So basically, Bungie has reverted everyone back to launch of TTK, where everyone rolled with one sniper rifle.
Now hear me out, I'm not saying it needs nerfed. The exact opposite. All I'm saying is that Bungie needs to revert one specific change. The 6.75% damage nerf. It makes absolutely zero sense to exist now that there are two sniper rifles that do exactly what the old sniper rifles did. Bungie, next time think about your changes. Clearly using statistics and comparisons are not your strong suit when it comes to balance. You'd rather appeal to the emotional casuals. I understand they, " Must have a safe space. " but at least try to balance for the sake of balance.
P.S. Can my sniper rifle have it's damage back in PvE? I'm really glad you can't counter-act PvP changes for PvE. We know you have the ability to as well. Can we at least get a 6.75% damage increase against minions of the darkness? Thanks.

1 RispondiI got two Devils Dawns from the same strike chest, but apparently they're super rare?
-
Not really how I'd fix the sniper problem, but at least we agree upon bungies incompetence

Modificato da Meshuggah840: 10/2/2016 4:05:16 PMI know I'm only speaking for myself, but I never use snipers unless I need to, and I only ever get sniped on maps with big open areas. I always see "everyone uses snipers bungi pls," "everyone uses shottys bungi pls" & "nobody uses primary's wtf bungi" posts but I never ever see it actually translate in the crucible.. However my k/d is trash so maybe I'm just playing against other trash players is all

The reason they did the nerf was to give highest impact snipers a reason to exist in the crucible. Before you had lowest impact but highest aim assist and handling snipers and you had mid impact, mid aim assist and handling snipers that also one shot supers. High impact snipers could one shot supers, but since the mid tier could do it too without a loss in aim assist or handling there wasn't a point to using them. Granted But Not Forgotten and the Trials sniper break the rules as they both handle beautifully, have 4 in the mag, and seem to have mid tier aim assist and can one shot supers.
-
So what I'm hearing is, Nerf Thorn?
-
higher impact for supers mostly die anyways those times that you trade or shut them down is satisfying but less bullets no thanks maybe im wrong on this I personally die less by snipers since most have switched to shotguns, in supremacy i get it i use a shotgun but other modes are just as sweaty not to mention the -blam!-ing lag
-
7 RisposteThe only thing I don't understand is that I pick up three rounds a box for my longbow but my event horizon picks up four each green box, other than trying to make me not use it, I can't think of any legitimate reasons why I pick up less of a smaller caliber
-
2 RisposteI'm personally fine with the recent sniper nerf. It paved the way for High Impact snipers to be viable in the crucible. Had they not done the damage reduction, there'd be no reason to use a Devil's Dawn or Event Horizon, etc.
-
It's like the shotgun nerf in Y1, they came right back around and gave everyone that God roll conspiracy theory.
-
That 1ks with triple tap and mulligan is still a brilliant sniper, and previously we had black spindle so we always had a max impact option. They reduced the damage on the 1ks cos they wanted the res-snipe/super snipe ability to only be viable on the highest impact snipers, which we now have several of. The trade off was aim assist which is lower on the max impact rifles than the mid-high impact ones.
-
All I read was nerf fusions...
-
1 RispondiYeah I agree, fusion rifles need a buff
-
That would make crucible as bad as it was before the nerf. Snipers are perfect right now.

1 RispondiModificato da Frodo-Swaggingss: 10/2/2016 1:16:17 PMThe high inpact snipers have less aim assist, less mag and a lower RoF. As a reward you can 1shot supers. The damage nerf to mid-high inpact snipers (1k stare, longbow etc) was to make it so that when you are using a high inpact sniper (which is harder) it would be worth it. Its high risk high reward for high inpact snipers, for mid-high inpscts sniper its moderate risk moderate rewards. Buffing the mid-high inpact snipers would make the highest inpact useless. I hope this clears things up to you.
-
I think the trade off is that event horizon and whatnot are far more punishable with the halved rate of fire and low secondary stats/reload and/or stability they usually have. The 1k was a problem because its risk/reward factor weighed too much on reward while now with the black spindle archetype claiming the old 1k state role, it balances a lot better. Side note Im absolutely loving Zen meteor for being the inbetween
-
Actually because I tested it out. Devil's dawn if there is just alittle bit of shield gone from your opponent in pvp yes it can body shot but if there at full health then it brings them down to almost nothing where you breath on them they die. So devil dawn is exactly a one shot kill as for horizon well I have yet to get it. But no snipers are where there suppose to be now no more head shooting people with roaming supers none of that bullshit anymore an now snipers take actual skill. Stop trying to get snipers back when the meta is these damn handcannons an sometimes shotguns.
-
So nerf fusion rifles?
-
Nah its fine high impact, low rate of fire. The faster the rate of fire on a sniper becomes the less damage/benefits it should offer. U make it seem like people weren't already either rocking 1k or longbow lol
-
2 RisposteSo what you're saying is shotguns need a nerf?
-
so basically you want titans buffed agreed
-
Fine with the changes . Just want NLB to OTK supers . It's old timely and a exotic for Christs sake
-
3 RisposteI farmed you on black shield
-
2 RisposteThe pve nerf was never needed period. It baffles ne that they said they cant or wont mix stuff between pve and pvp. But shotguns got a 100 percent damage buff to pve enemies and didnt gain a pvp buff. Its a load of bullshit.
-
2 Rispostethe reason it matters the new snipers that cna do it have much worse stats in all other areas making them harder to use the 2 ones that can kind of do it (certain armored supers it cannot) have fixed scopes. so, that is why.
-
Incompetent for including snipers in the game to begin with.
