I'm starting to notice a pattern with the people on these forums who always have something about destiny to complain about. You guys are always talking about how repetitive this game is and how you're "forced" to do the same things over and over every week. Here's what I'm confused about though. Why are you people acting as if damn near every other popular video game out there isn't practically the same damn thing?
Let's look at some of the biggest game series out there, I'm just gonna list some that're, to me, some of my favorites, but also some of what I believe are the most popular or most played games currently:
- Call of Duty. I'm including any of the games that're currently out, I think we can all agree that this is still one of the most popular game series out right now.
- Halo. Once again, including every one of the games that're out right now. This have to say this is and has been probably one of the most loved series of games out there and personally, I still love it even though I only play it occasionally. Halo will always have a special spot right in my heart.
- GTA V. I really doubt there's enough people playing the older games for them to be considered, so I'm leaving them out.
- The Division. Ah, the game that was destined to kill Destiny (See what I did there?). The game that so many people said was going to destroy Destiny and leave it in the dust with only a few dedicated players like myself behind. Personally, I never touched or wanted to touch The Division. The moment I saw videos on YouTube about it, I knew it wasn't my type of game, and it honestly looked like a watered down, overhyped, slower (As far as gameplay.) wannabe Destiny. Never liked it, never touched it, never will. Moving on.
- Any sports games like 2K or Madden. I know these games are popular mostly with casual gamers and people who play sports but still popular nonetheless.
- Gears of War. A series that I was personally obsessed with because of the story before I got Xbox Live, I feel like this game was pretty popular and still is fairly liked and popular. Maybe not as much as some of the other games I've listed, but it's still up there.
- Overwatch. Another game that I see to be a little bit like Destiny. However, I don't look at this one so negatively like I do The Division. Overwatch, from what I've seen, almost seems like the more multiplayer focused, a lot less serious, more kiddy, fun, wild and playful version of Destiny. I kind of look at it as the game that is Destiny players jump on for a little while after Destiny pisses us off or something. But it's a little too kiddy for me to purchase myself, so the only way I'll play it is probably second hand through my little brother if he decides to get it.
Most, if not every single one of these games is just as repetitive if not more repetitive than Destiny.
With Call of Duty, all people do now is play Zombies and online Multiplayer over and over and over again, just like we do the same with Raids and the Crucible.
With Halo, although Halo is probably a lot more fun due to things like private matches, forge, and other things, all people do on that game is multiplayer multiplayer multiplayer, just like most players find themselves doing Crucible Crucible Crucible. Or whatever your mix of Crucible and PvE may be.
GTA V, all people do in this game is drive/fly around in free roam and mess with each other until someone says "Anyone wanna to do a heist? I need cash." And don't you dare go into that game with a level as high as or higher than 200. If you do you will have little kids all over your ass asking if you can mod them money. And trust me, as someone whose been a legitimate level 350+ for a while now, I can tell you, that game gets pretty repetitive.
The Division. I don't even need to say anything else about this game. We all know why we heard about it less and less since two or three months after its release.
If sports games aren't repetitive, then I don't know what is.
Gears of War. From any videos I've watched on the new Gears, all people did was play the campaign to find out what happened and then get straight into multiplayer. Once again, same that happens in Destiny but be get DLCs that, at least to me, make the game better and refresh it every time a new one releases. The hype is real for me every time we get a DLC.
Overwatch. Although this game seems a lot to me like the more playful, cartoon-like, silly version of Destiny, from what I see, most if not all of what everyone does on that game is multiplayer.
Every one of the games I listed here are just as, if not way more repetitive than Destiny, so why do people on these forums act like it's not true? This is really what video games are, and I will never understand why people use these arguments to try and say that Destiny is a bad game.

1 RispondiComparing a loot based game with FPS games is the reason why I should bleach my eyes.

4 RisposteIts how underwhelming everything in Destiny is compared to those other games. PvE: For f***s sake Call of Duty has a better story then Destiny does! Destiny's story consist of a few incoherent ideas barely strung together; Superman 64 had a better story then Destiny! Halo's story is coherent and well portrayed; again Destiny's is "no time to explain, why there is no time to explain" PvP: Everyone of those games PvP is drastically more balanced then the Crucible. When Halo came out, its PvP had little to no changes made to its weapons and abilities and the same goes for the recent Call of Duties. The meta for those games remained unchanged over their live spans. Now Bungtard could not balance Destiny to save their own offspring. This game is atrociously unbalanced. This is made evident by Bungtards constant nerfs and changes to their meta over the now coming on three years of this games life span!

Try "neverwinter", is not as fancy as destiny, but is a real mmorpg with real servers and free. Just to take a break
-
Wait, you only just noticed this pattern?
-
I came back to Destiny after being bored out of my mind with other games. I had high hopes for the division but was only disappointed. Fallout 4 was also terrible. Got bored of Halo and burnt out on EsO. Destiny just seems so rewarding and the customisation is cool too.
-
Im sorry, but how the fk is OW kiddy? My little pony is kiddy. Just because something is animated doesnt make it kiddy. I havnt even played OW but destiny is definitely more kid friendly.

2 RisposteSo how can i put this is a nice way.. Show Spoiler

2 RisposteThose games are not breaking classes every 4 months because people cry. It is what it is and you play or you don't. Destiny changes the game, modes, weapons, metas, classes, etc. So they are really not the same in anyway except you can kill other people in various ways.

I tried the Overwatch beta. Didn't like it and I don't understand why people compare it to Destiny. It seems to have more in common with Plants vs Zombies.
-
And this is why I stick to destiny. I find that there's more variety in it than other games. Maybe I'm just ignorant?
-
All those words and the only thing I heard was you complaining.
-
2 RisposteOnly thing I enjoy about GTA anymore is bothering randoms in pubs, everything else has become boring.
-
2 Risposte"It's too kiddy so I wont buy it," okay can you say insecurities lol. Anyway Destiny is not the fun repetitive that's the point. Everyone with some reason knows things are repetitive the idea is that it's fun regardless of that. Many find that destiny struggles at that, simple.
-
Overwatch is not even close to being like Destiny. Also it's entirely multiplayer.
-
The lag has been MUCH worse and then the grind nowadays is ridonkulous. Crucible is controlled by snipers and shotguns and no primary is good enough to compete with them. This game has plumetted so much, you can even lag in a raid or NF now. Smh 😧
-
It's just people cycling through. Others quit new people started. New people come here. Or maybe make a post that's long enough to read on a cross country flight about your confusion and lack of common sense.
-
Oh. You're making big purchases and big statements. You adult you.
-
The worst part about GTA is the "free" DLC is bullshit. $30 dollars for a car that I drive around in, and then jump out of whenever it is about to blow up? I'd rather blow $30 on something with a little more value, like... oh I don't know. An entire Destiny DLC with a far greater amount of content then a single car?

Call of Duty still play Multiplayer with friends, its better with friends. Halo, Play for story, better story than destiny. GTA V, play with friends. can have bigger lobbies with just friends to do what we want. Division, Played Beta was not thrilled. Gears of War, only played campaign, I loved the story. Overwatch, have not touched it. Hopefully with the recent decision to do away with legacy consoles this game will improve. hopefully they improve the game more instead of destroying the mechanics, implement new much need mechanics(ie, improved flinch when shot mechanics and or sniper sway). stop the constant nerfs on weapon classes when it is individual weapons that are being used a lot. ( just because archetypes like Doctrine of Spamming was used a lot, ooo like the vex not every one had it, does not mean the entire fast firing automatic bb guns did the same).

My biggest complains are lack of dedicated servers and lack of content.

1 RispondiOverwatch can be a bit of a chess match. Blizzard has nerfed and buffed things in a way that makes the game better. They don't nerf things that don't need it like blink, throwing knives, trip mines, scatter grenades Ect.
destiny is a great game but they have no clue on how to balance it
2 RisposteSo any game with guns and combat is like Destiny?
