So with the recent update it seems that climates have a much heavier influence on spawns.
Dessert: Rock and fire
Grasslands: Grass (obviously)
Costal: water and psychic
However sub climates do play a part. Places like, ponds, fields, suburbs ect. I'd like to get a poll going so we can get a better idea of where to go for specific types. Personally I'm hoping to get an onyx but live in Pennsylvania so going to the desert for a day to catch some geodudes isn't an option.
So if you're noticing a frequent spawn of a type that's not specific to your climate let us know what type it is and what type of area you're finding them in.
Thanks!

5 RisposteWe have Eevee out the wazoo here in Portland

Live in a city, not a huge one. So I get mostly pidgeys and rattatas. Few bugs here and there.

So far I've literally been all over the Chicago northside and the majority of the finds have been Pidgeys and Rattatas.
-
I live in a fairly normal suburban area (trees, fields, houses, etc.). I see a lot of Normal, Grass, Bug, and Flying.

1 RispondiI find squirtles and bulbasuars consistently around 5pm EST. I live in MA, and it's usually in the mid city streets. There are small streams around the city but not major water. Today was the first time I saw some electric types-magnemite and voltorb. Again just random city streets, no clear landmarks. Other than that we are flooded with pidgey, ratatata, weedles. I saw a Rhydon this morning but couldn't find it in time
