After pleading, ikora allowed them to have all the hidden's files on the hive. Though this was not enough. Eriana-3 knew they required more knowledge. She recalled a certain voidwalker who admonished the city of what would occur at Imbrium. One who was later exiled due to him conversing with the darkness. Toland is who they set out to find. And find him they did Toland enlightened them on the severity of the circumstances. The darkness told him that crota would not cease at merely the moon. He would turn Luna into a brood moon, and then have his spawn attack earth and consume us all. And soon his father would take what remains. Suffice to say, eris and eriana-3 were flustered at his sayings. But if any could help them, it would be Toland. He told them crota was invincible at the disaster because that was merely a shadow of him. The true crota was in his throne room, and only by entering this throne room would they be able to defeat this "god" Eris and eriana-3 then recruited 3 more guardians to assist them in creating a raid team to kill crota and take back the moon. This team was now Eris: blade dancer Eriana-3: Sunsinger Vel tarlowe: striker Omar agah: gunslinger Sai mota: bladedancer And Toland would also accompany them, for his own intentions But as eris told us: [u][b]"6 of us went down into the pit... Sai was driven to insanity by the darkness, and the hordes of thrall. She attempted to run. To climb out. She... fell Eriana 3 saw it. Saw sai fall. She was truly angered. (Never anger a Sunsinger). She was tired of losing allies. Tired of fleeing. So she stayed and fought on - and killed - hundreds, if not thousands, of hive. All in one last gallant effort. And she kept her promise. And he attempted to use her song. It ... did not work as planned. He died. Physically. He now saunters in the hive world, still informing those who listen, leaving us calcified fragments, and etc Eris was now trapped in the abyss for what felt like an eternity to her. No one even tried to find her. By vanguard order, no one was allowed to go to the moon. Until our guardian went there. [u][b]"We've woken the hive!!!"[/b][/u] And by those words, she was released from her prison. When she returned to the city, the speaker, and zavala wished to exile her for her... condition. But ikora did not allow it. She now assists us, in order to gain her revenge on those who took everything away from her. I've seen better plot lines while browsing Brazzers, than what this game has to offer. If the Rise of Iron baddie is a pizza guy, I'm done. And by done I mean pants off.

It's true that oryx called crota back after the fight, but crota had actually been severely hurt during the fighting and HAD to retreat. Although the initial battle to retake the moon was won by guardians, they were to weak and broken to push into the moon after the hive retreated. That's why it's counted as a loss.

Oryx had him return to his throne world in order to regroup and prepare for an assault on the earth

Eric's went and found Crota in the pit with her fireteam. They never entered his throne world. The killed him in our dimension on the moon. But while escaping, the hive trapped them and saved Crota's soul. Eric's was the only one to survive and lived amung the hive for a long period of time. She learned many of the hive rituals and finally escaped. She came to the tower and helped the guardians prepare to kill Crota. The guardians then went into the Helmouth and destroyed what remained of Crota's soul. In the Raid, the Guardians go down into the pit and have to traverse the abyss (I suspect this is where Eris fought Crota but nothing even hints at this). Once the door in the abyss is open, the guardians enter a portal which sends them to the Oversoul Throne. This is Crota's throne world. You make you're way to the Oversoul and kill Crota. In TTK, we return to the Oversoul Throne to retrieve a portion of Crota's soul (now dead) to become ascendant. Crota is dead in this mission. His dead soul is in a casket and they are having a funeral. Eris says they are preparing him for the next realm. This is saying that they are having a death ceremony and are preparing Crota for the Hive afterlife. As for Oryx, we go to the dread aught and fight him in our world. As the same as all hive, he is much weaker in our world. We are able to defeat him, but he escapes to his throne world. During the King's Fall raid, we start in the Court of Oryx and enter the portal as ascendants. When the guardians enter the portal, they are sent to Oryx's throne world. Before I continue, only Kings and Knights of high rank are given throne worlds. Oryx is the King and Crota is the Knight of high rank. The Warpriest, Golgoroth, and the Daughters are not high enough rank to have a throne world. They are able to travers the throne world because they are ascendant and if killed in either the real world, or another throne world, will die infinitely because they do not have their soul stored in a throne world. Deathsingers are different because they are granted eternal life by the worms. They will be reborn infinitely. This can be seen in the TTK mission in Crota's throne world. Ir Yut can be seen at the funeral along with the Daughters and other Deathsingers. Back to the raid. Once in the portal, they are in Oryx's realm. They defeat the defenders of the king's realm and finally reach the King. The daughters defend the King as a last ditch effort to kill the guardians with song before Oryx will fight them. The same can be seen with Crota except their is no defenders except Ir Yut. Crota is only a prince and only had a deathsinger appointed. The guardians then kill the Daughters and then kill Oryx in his own realm. In his empowered state, he attempts to take the guardians one by one but fails and realizes that the guardians are not living and cannot be taken (Guardians are dead but are resurrected by the ghosts. They are still dead, but possessed by the light). In a last ditch effort, he realizes he must destroy the guardians instead of take them, so he tries to wipe them out with his clap (similar to Oversoul), but is defeated during his attempt. Instead of shattering like Oryx, he is crystallized by his Worm (since he is the highest rank, the worm is trying to preserve its darkness). Oryx and Crota are dead forever since we killed them in their throne worlds. There are no other known hive that have a throne world so we don't have to worry much. This is all I got. Some of this is speculation, but the throne logic and the Deathsingers is correct.

Want to make it even more maddening? How did Guardians enter Throne/Sword worlds back then without being Ascendant? How did Oryx resurrect his sisters after giving them "true deaths"? Why is the Black Heart some random thing in the Black Garden, and with all its supreme evil power, use three Gate Keepers as its final form...? I can go on. When you lose your lead writer and have to create a digital baseball card series from the scraps of his ideas, things get messy. It's hard to debate a lot of Destiny's story and its inner workings because almost everything got flipped on its head and glued together. I would pay good money to see the supercut of Destiny's original story - that's two hours of story and cinematics - I don't care how linear and esoteric they claimed it was.

Minato Uzamaki beat Crota using the Flying Rajin level 7 Rasengan technique. Knowing he couldn't kill him, he sacrificed himself using the reaper death seal jutsu, and locked him in a crystal on the moon. From what I heard the flying Rajin was a super OP throwing dagger attack. Unfortunately, that amazing power has been nerfed by the powers that be throughout its time to become the pitiful excuse of a melee we see today which is a throwing knife.

I haven't really read the Grimoire in depth as others, but I believe Crota's physical form was already vanquished prior to the Hive invading the moon. The only reason he was still among us in the Physical Realm were because of his minions: Heart, Fist, Will, Eyes, etc. Those minions would eventually try and bring him back to our Physical Realm, this time to take Earth, and through the use of black magic they also tried to restore his physical body. However, that's when we jump in, kill his lieutenants, and journey to his Dream Realm to end any chance of him returning. Does that sound right?

You get two different theories when reading the grimoire and playing the game. Theory #1: Eris' fireteam went to the moon to end Crota, after he took the moon. Months of planning lead them to locating Crota's physical body, devoid of his soul, which was in the Ascendant Realm. They destroy his body and one by one are hunted down until only Eris is left and she escapes to the tower hoping to end Crota for good. Theory #2: Eris' fireteam goes to the moon to end Crota, after he took the moon. Months of planning has lead them to locating where Crota is. They go to kill him and discover that in fact he has for some reason returned to the Ascendant Realm and that he has transcended physical form due to his Oversoul and now has become powerful enough to exist through proxies, such as Omnigul, Sardok, etc... This explains why the guardians couldn't stop him from taking the moon, he was basically an invincible supernatural warrior. Eris' fireteam is ambushed, but manages to learn that Crota can be destroyed by killing his lieutenants and that Crota will die for good if they kill him in his throne-world. Eris' fireteam is killed one by one and only Eris escapes back to the tower with the knowledge to end him for good... I think the knight that we see in the trailer is Sardok, the Fist of Crota, and I'm going to go with theory #2. The reason being that Crota was called back into the Ascendant Realm by Oryx to plan the final destruction of the light; preventing Crota from being killed unless someone entered his throne-world directly. The wizards/witches, whatever used the crystal as a means of focusing Crota's soul into the physical world, just like how you summon him in the raid. Everything was going so well, until some guardians destroyed that focusing crystal, delaying his plans. He would has gotten away with it too, if it hadn't of been for you meddling kids and your dog, um... Guardians and ghosts, yeah, that's right, you meddling guardians!
