To be fair, at the end of the day, you can't place complete trust in your government to protect you. You can't place complete trust in your friends, your family, no one other than yourself, because the only thing that you can accurately plan for with relative certainty in a time of crisis are your own actions. Not necessarily the actions of anyone around you. And while this can be used to argue defensively about guns, i'm not going to get into that debate. All i'm going to say pertaining to this subject is that I feel that it's natural to instinctively rely on your own abilities, your own means, and your own stock when push comes to shove, whether it be in self defense, home defense, or the defense of someone else. This perspective might seem paranoid, and perhaps it is to a certain degree, but humans can be very unpredictable creatures. Having a backup plan when dealing with them is usually a safe bet.

I can't really argue. It's just fun to own an AR-15 A semi-automatic AK-47 is nice as well. About 6 people in my neighborhoos own fully automatics. That probably isn't legal...
