Is Trials only for the elite now ?
After two runs at the weekend just to do bounties I find that Trials is no fun at all for the lower end of the PVP skill level. Occasionally a good close game will be had but otherwise its me getting stomped or occasionally stomping some poor other players.
I am a reasonable 6x6 PVP player and not a very good 3x3 PVP player and I was the top on our team which may give an indication of our skill level.
I have noticed recently that the first 1, 2 or 3 games of the ticket are the ones that are way and above the worst rounds for us getting stomped on. I am trying to understand why should that be ? It used to be rounds 5 & 6 but now its the early rounds.
It seems to be this way every time I run, are we lower levels not supposed to be playing ? why would Bungie create bounties that are not particularly hard to achieve if we were not supposed to play ?
Am I just unlucky and seem to catch teams full of scarabs and flawless in the first three rounds who decimate us 5 & 0 in thirty seconds or is it the same for others ?
What's your thoughts fellow bounty hunters?
Don't get me wrong I am not complaining about getting beat, just don't understand the system that puts people who have gone flawless numerous times against those that never have in their first game.
(I'd love to get to the lighthouse just for the grimoire but I think I am resigned to never doing it)

Playing with a couple of guys who are just bounty hunting and pretty low ELO.
First game on first character, 5% chance to win lol
Carried on like that for 3 games at least, second game 2% chance to win, third game 8%
Its not easy trying to get good :)

Same bro I'd say I'm a good crucible player but when I play with anyone I get stomped by some sunsingers sweating away so hard I can smell it through my screen.

1.0 kd and 1200 elo is a slight bit above average. And yes you will lose everytime. I can't make it past 4 or 5 wins on a card. Get stomped immidiatly after 4 wins if not sooner

6 RisposteWell sbmm a couple weeks back on a Monday night proved to me it was messed up when I got put up against cimbol_ (top 5 in world or something on psn), his friend with 2100 Elo and another dude with like 1700 Elo when our average Elo was like 1200 I think it was either 2nd or 3rd game of the card. We actually won 2 rounds but I don't think they were even trying. Point is if sbmm is supposed to be active in trials why would it be placing my team in an early round against a team like that???

The thing is, ( and if you instantly check my k/d s and Elo s you probably didn't read on) the LFG community for good Trials players rarely ever allows anyone with a k/d lower than a 1.00 or with a bad Elo. But the thing is, if you didn't go flawless or do good when Trials was first released, then you were stuck in a pit of elitists and constantly trying to go flawless with below average players, which when you constantly failed, destroyed your k/d and Elo, which as I said, is the one thing that can make or break your chances of staying with a decent team. I've gone flawless, but I haven't since, and this is why.

I'd so some of you think those few thousand players that have no problem getting to the light house were born elite with mad skill? I think they just grinded and trained for a long time to get there so maybe you should too

12 RisposteThe funny thing is my stats aren't the greatest because of my two year 1 warlock and hunter. But on my Titan I feel like I'm at a disadvantage, I can snipe and out play many people with 2.0 plus kd and 1800 elo but everytime I feel like I have to play on a warlock to win, without the warlock I feel like you can't get picks with your nades and or snipe them, every warlock I play plays slow paced, and campy just throwing firebolts. Bungie had a chance to make warlocks classes just another class and they didn't and know warlocks dominate trials.

I feel exactly the same. I've posted about this too. Why am I going up against all scarab teams with 2.0 trials kd's in the first 2-3 matches? This is not sbmm. If it is, it's broken. We usually get to a point where game 4 and 5 are the most evenly matched, but then after 6 wins, we skyrocket to professional level pubstompers. Like with the kind of skill where we would probably lose to any one of the three guys on the other team, much less having all three of them (multi-flawless) and multi flawless that week, just running through us like a scrimmage. I don't understand the matchmaking at all. What I do know, is that there is no point at which I feel like I'm playing teams that are evenly matched. I haven't been flawless in year two, so why do I get team after team of flawless opponents with a much higher kd? It's punishment to always be That team that is just there to try and get bounties done, who is basically there to be fed to the wolves that have already went to the light house 6 times that weekend and are just there to keep others from even having a thought of s chance.

Does anyone actively take newbies into trials nowadays? By newbies I mean purely trials newbies. By no means am i new to pvp but I've tried trials once a long time ago....and sucked. Lol. I'd like to get into it but find it hard to believe (with itbeing as you say it is now) people are laid back enough.

Some good players farm elo and kd after going flawless. Which means a new card at 2 to 3 wins this is even more common on Mondays

I play with some pretty sweaty people all about 1.3 kd + 1500 elo + and I went flawless once this week. Didn't even try after that because it was so sweaty. The casual player base is pretty much gone to overwatch, DS3, or something else. If u go deep into a card on trials expect to play atleast 2 streamers or even worse a full team of 2.0 kds. have fun

No you guys literally just suck. 700 ELO team Average? Like holy shit that's terrible that's 500 below average and you wonder why your getting 5-0ed every game. I'm not trying to be mean here but honestly you aren't facing elite players every game, perhaps in your perspective but through my eyes a 1200 enemy team is a breeze.

I actually never went flawless in year one Year two I've had better luck Granted I didn't play much of it in year one, guess I wouldn't mind seeing how I'd fair if it went back to the way it was I just couldn't thorn or matador my way to victories I guess

56 RisposteYep. Trials is now for Twitch streamers, the pvp elite, and those who pay/get paid for carries. (And the brave souls who are willing to put up with it for bounties) 1. They removed incentives for pve players to play Trials. So the more casual pvp/heavy pve players that were in house of wolves trials? Gone. 2. They ruined the most stable experience in destiny by using scorecard based matchmaking over pure connection. So at 5 games you'll see yellow bars and at those crucial 7-8 wins you'll suddenly get red bar heroes. It has gotten better (slightly) but any move away from pure connection inherently allows worse connections. 3. Scorecard based matchmaking also creates a forced bottleneck that didn't exist in house of wolves. Since it kicks in at around 7 wins it means that half of all 7-0 teams and half of all 8-0 teams have to take a loss. So you lose on your 7th win and are 7-1? Cool now you have to face another 7 win team. Then if you win that you have to fight an 8 win team. As opposed to year one where you faced the entire population every match. This was fair, you faced who you faced and it wasn't influenced by anything other than connection. So in year one you had: 1. Best connections in destiny 2. Diverse player base playing for different reasons and not necessarily for the sweat 3. No hand of god messing with your team matchups. In year two you have: 1. Compromised connections 2. XxX420MLGXxX only must have 1000000 ELO make sure to watch my stream I also do $20 carries. 3. "I see you just did really well those first five matches, here's an mlg sniper team and a lag party. Good luck getting to the lighthouse now" Sincerely, scorecard based matchmaking.

Ok, so I get your point for the most part, it was more fun in y1, and I say that even though I've improved a lot through y2. The twitch streamer mlg pro thing however, is where I think people get thrown off by the psychological aspect of it and the scars wearing etc etc. Just yesterday in 1 run we came across 2 full teams all part of a twitch streaming clan, we won them all pretty easily. It's when I get tired, hungry, and then cranky, that I play terribly. Which then leads to the saltiness I guess the best games I play, are when I don't bother acknowledging the enemy team, and remember not to care so much, whilst still aiming to play smart. Trials isn't only for the elite, but I can see why some think that.
