That's fine and actually still helpful as long as you're patrolling the routes to the objective instead of just mopping up stragglers on the fringes. I've actually had entire games go from a slow brutal loss to a win because I decided to back up my teammates. Sometimes they just dive head first into a bullet storm and there is nothing you can do but sometimes reducing team deaths can be far more important than kills.
