Does anybody still gunfight in this game anymore?
I honestly do not understand why people refuse to just, one on one gunfight anymore. Very seldom do do I jump in the crucible and see people duking it out. Every warlock throws a firebolt, every hunter shoots once/throwin knife, or wombo/combo, while titans either shoulder charge, or steal the kill the hunter has wombo/combo'd. Every hallway is being hardscoped, and any time somebody gets noticed, they tuck their tail and run/shadestep/glide away. I mean, did I miss the memo? The only ones that don't play cheap and go mega try hard, are just scrubs these days, or something? I can't be the only one to notice this, right?
Edit: I never thought this post would take off like this. I appreciate all of the civil responses and thought out opinions. But then there are the kids who are heartbroken, that I made a post about their precious playstyle, when they themselves can not kills without relying solely on their grenades to engage.

Edit: holy crap this thread took off. I was not expecting this many people to comment, let alone agree. It's good to see there are still gun slinging outlaws still showing the crucible what's up (not referring to the hunter subclass)

4 Risposte[b]I[/b] recently got a 3 k/d, using only my lovely SUROS scout. (In mayhem, as well). [i]I[/i] did that! Theoretically, anyone should be able to. Although, next few games, I was back to fusion/ shotgun rushing.

25 RisposteI play, but I do not use shadestep. I use my primary mostly, but no, I do not stand there like a dumbass & get killed if I can help it. Maybe I am misunderstanding what a number of you are saying, but it is not "cowardly" to dodge out of the way. If I see a guy who has been consistently outgunning me, you can bet I am sending him a gren before my bullets. If we are pretty evenly matched, then no, I am not going to throw a gren at him, unless I see his buddies running up, then he can have that gren & my Super as well, if it is charged. I am tired, so maybe that is why this post makes almost no sense to me. It reminds me too much of the posts where the players are cryin about someone using a shotgun or a sniper. I rarely use either, I would rather use a fusion or a sidearm, but I have no problems with you using a shotgum or a sniper. I will either figure out how to beat you or I will avoid you. So if I am misunderstanding, just let me know. I am not trying to be an asshat here, I am tired, like I said & personally, if you want to stand there & have an old west showdown, I would enjoy watching & I think it is cool you enjoy that style of play, but don't look down on others for using the equipment or powers they have in a match, unless you have an arrangement in advance to play a certain way, then yeah, they are douchenozzles for breaking that.

5 RisposteNope most suck at fps shooters. Rely on magic most of the time. I can beat any level 40 strictly with guns while they struggle with supers trying to hurt me. I love my suppressor grenade

I blame shit map design,shit weapon balance and and a merry-go-round meta that puts focus of special and heavy weapon use.

It's just the way destiny acustom their players. Everything changed when trials first came out. Think about it, the ultimate try hard playlists that intrigues the player to try their very best (try hards) while also trying their hardest to not die. And not only that, but the fact that you get rewarded for staying alive and keeping your streak going is what makes all these try hards want to be more cautious and more strategic with their abilities. Yes it's annoying but then again if you were on a 10 kill streak you wouldn't want to go out into the open risking your streak over a gun fight because you and I both know that getting killed makes you feel like a bad player. Unless you're just trying to have fun and enjoy some good old crucible. But even then, there will always be those types of people ^ and yes I do try hard just because I love trying to see how many kills I can get in a match. It's Destiny. All about playing smart and getting those medals.

You've answered your own question. The only people who just stand there shooting are scrubs. Everyone else maximises their chances of winning.

I use Tlaloc a lot on my Sunsinger which means that I don't use the super for anything but the overflow perk. I don't use firebolts much, I rather use solar grenades with Sunbreakers gauntlets. I don't use special weapons much unless really required (like frustrating a frustrating sniper with Plan C). So I guess I just run along with my primary. I do all this because it is my primary play style. And it doesn't help to maintain my stats (which suck basically) but it does help me to play the way I want to. There will always be people who would just keep on abusing something or the other just to maintain stats and all. It may be a super, a weapon, ability, grenade, etc. I know some guys who have been using the same gun in PvP since year 1. I find that pretty boring. I experiment a lot with my loadouts and it definitely lets me have fun.

6 RisposteNot sure if Queenbreakers Bow counts like a gunfight cuz I've been using that more often in all my engagements. Hardly use abilities except for tripmine grenades or using the keen scout perk.

3 RisposteLets see warlocks- throw firebolt at ground, melee from 50 feet. Repeat every 20 seconds. Hunter- smoke (or smoke and nade) shoot, shadestep away Titan... Shoulder charge maybe if its a small map

1 RispondiYou do realize that this isn't CoD. Destiny has supers and abilities for each subclass that should be part of the game. Those things are what make Destiny different and shouldn't be removed. There is nothing more enjoyable than throwing a fusion nade on someone's face, close second is throwing knife to someone's face.

15 RisposteHunters absolutely refuse to engage in any type of gun fight.. Unless they have a smoke nade charged and ready.. And even then they just run away and spam shadestep.

1 RispondiI'm that guy who forgets he has his super up and procedes to shoot everything in the head or body depending on the gun I'm using. Use smoke if I'm out numbered or as a bluff and grenades kinda suck by themselves sooooo....wombo combo
