I honestly do not understand why people refuse to just, one on one gunfight anymore. Very seldom do do I jump in the crucible and see people duking it out. Every warlock throws a firebolt, every hunter shoots once/throwin knife, or wombo/combo, while titans either shoulder charge, or steal the kill the hunter has wombo/combo'd. Every hallway is being hardscoped, and any time somebody gets noticed, they tuck their tail and run/shadestep/glide away. I mean, did I miss the memo? The only ones that don't play cheap and go mega try hard, are just scrubs these days, or something? I can't be the only one to notice this, right?
Edit: I never thought this post would take off like this. I appreciate all of the civil responses and thought out opinions. But then there are the kids who are heartbroken, that I made a post about their precious playstyle, when they themselves can not kills without relying solely on their grenades to engage.
2 mlg 4 me
Edit: holy crap this thread took off. I was not expecting this many people to comment, let alone agree. It's good to see there are still gun slinging outlaws still showing the crucible what's up (not referring to the hunter subclass)

1 RispondiWhy do people make stupid edits for their post success? Does my head in -.-
-
1 RispondiScout rifle gunfights at long range and hand cannon gunfights at mid range are the best part of this game. Unfortunately it rarely happens to occur without a grenade throw or something else interrupting. Still, definitely worth crucible play.

2 RisposteI just want mw2 and black ops back.
-
1 RispondiIts why I picked up battleborn duel it out in a reasonably even field I come to destiny pvp to jump around and have fun teabaging snipers

I have to say, after playing inferno modes this week I wish this was the standard in all normal modes. Matches are quick, but you don't see people sitting on one side of the map all game, people actually have to move in order to get special ammo/kills, and honestly it's just more fun/less campy over all.

4 RisposteI Understand this fully, it is a bit annoying at times. People tend to play super passive. I do not mind this as much in clash because class is all about staying alive while getting as many kills a possible, in clash going 10-2 is just as good or better them going 20-15. What annoys me is people who play this way in objective games such as control and Rift. Control you can win with only one zone if you are getting a lot of kills and not dieing al ot but Rift is just ridiculous. The whole Idea of rift is you need to establish mid map control but how can you do that when all your teammates do not push mid and just sit in spawn on sniper lanes. No one wants to push for mid map control and as soon as you finally get mid map control and someone grab spark people are to concerned about KD to help guide the runner to the rift. I have played games of rift where I will go like 5-20 but we win buy a large margin because I run into enemy spawn to kill people at there rift or to at least cause a distraction while the runner scores.

1 RispondiEver since I got Gheleon's Demise in HOW I've been glued to high impact scout rifles they're hard to use but I eventually got the hang of them.
-
Idk honestly I just use whatever i have available , but through just gun play, I lose most of the time so there's abilities to help with that so I see no reason to complain. that's what this game is centered around, if you want gun fights buy your self cod or battle field and enjoy that for a change of pace.
-
4 RisposteI still gunfight. I lose a lot, but I do it. Here's a riddle for you though. What's worse than being teamshot by 2 people using doctrine?
being team shot by 3 people using doctrine
Abilities are part of the fight.

4 RisposteI gunfight snipers all the time... They aim at me, I shoot them in the face with Jade rabbit while they continue aiming at me. It makes my heart skip a beat every time a bullet flies past 5 feet away from me.
-
1 RispondiI'm always usinmy primary. :)
-
6 RisposteJust like in real life, I will use any means necessary to survive. If a guy is about to kill me, I'll use anything I can to be the one that walks away. I hope you would too
-
1 RispondiI enjoy a one on one gun fight.... And his teammate kills me during it hahaha
-
1 RispondiNo such thing as a fair fight.
-
7 RisposteI do, that would be cool if they had a crucible match with no supers/grenades just gun action.
-
7 RisposteWell said. I think this every time I step into the crucible. They should add a game mode where you can't use anything but primary weapons.
-
7 RisposteI'm always up for a good gunfight I typically run with a scout rifle and sidearm.
-
Rip gunfights
-
1 RispondiWho needs guns when you have space magic!
-
2 RisposteYou'd think lowering the time to kill on weapons would make gunfights..More prevalent? All it seems to have done is cause everyone to primary their OHK weapons, and only engage when they hit with a grenade. It sucks; the pace of the game has slowed down drastically since the early days.
-
1 RispondiIm not one to backdown i usually stay until one of us goes down ( most of the time its me ) .
-
4 RisposteIt ain't about being pretty and shaking hands and saying no hits below the belt. It matters what a person CAN do, and what a person CAN'T. True, stuff seems cheap sometimes, the wombo, the sunsingers and lately the shoulder charge, but -blam!- it. Grenades are ON, right? Then it's fair game. Shotguns are close range, yes? Then watch your corners. Hunters can blink strike and evade right? Then deal. Grit teeth, spit lead. It's the crucible, a simulation of combat (if you wanna get all Lord Shaxx about it). In combat you live or die by any means. And learn to adapt and overcome. And I mean, you do respawn, soooo....

If you want a gun fight play halo What you are explaining is what happens when a game has classes. People will use their abilities.

2 RisposteWhat is a 1v1 gunfight? Of the encounters I win I do so by either priming my opponent with a grenade, scoping a chokepoint, or team shotting while a teammate has agro. Even in strictly 1v1 encounters I count on my opponent to use an ability and I have to use my mine to outplay him. When I lose in an encounters I usually lose by the same methods I employ to win. Or think about it this way: +10 for grenade, melee, headshot, or super kills. +50 for assist in a kill, first place kill, or revive. The game doesn't reward getting in real gunfights. Also, what's a primary?
