I honestly do not understand why people refuse to just, one on one gunfight anymore. Very seldom do do I jump in the crucible and see people duking it out. Every warlock throws a firebolt, every hunter shoots once/throwin knife, or wombo/combo, while titans either shoulder charge, or steal the kill the hunter has wombo/combo'd. Every hallway is being hardscoped, and any time somebody gets noticed, they tuck their tail and run/shadestep/glide away. I mean, did I miss the memo? The only ones that don't play cheap and go mega try hard, are just scrubs these days, or something? I can't be the only one to notice this, right?
Edit: I never thought this post would take off like this. I appreciate all of the civil responses and thought out opinions. But then there are the kids who are heartbroken, that I made a post about their precious playstyle, when they themselves can not kills without relying solely on their grenades to engage.
2 mlg 4 me
Edit: holy crap this thread took off. I was not expecting this many people to comment, let alone agree. It's good to see there are still gun slinging outlaws still showing the crucible what's up (not referring to the hunter subclass)

1 RispondiI was just thinking about this and I think the game setting of Destiny as a whole really discourages 1v1 gunfights. Excluding sniper duels, strafing is utterly useless because the time to kill is too fast and the aim assistance is too high for primaries. A rational person should NOT engage in a close-mid range 1v1 gunfight if he/she doesn't get first hit. It isn't like Halo 3 where you can really better your chances in a 1v1 gunfight by incorporating unique storages and having a stronger BR. Primaries in Destiny are too easy to track moving targets and don't need to lead bullets from distance. As I'm typing now though I wanna say that Mida battles are also an exception.

1 RispondiNo because all the guns got nerfed

1 RispondiModificato da NYJarhead333: 5/11/2016 8:43:13 PMGames modes limited to certain weapons would be a good option.
-
4 RisposteI think I just run around punching shit regardless of class. Something satisfying about killing a try hard with a stab (not throwing knife) to the face or a palm full of void/lightning
-
1 RispondiThats why year 1 pvp was better. As much as i hated it(since i was a low level noob without good guns), it was so much more fast paced. People didnt headglitch and hardscope across the map the whole game. People didnt shy away from gunfights. People actually fought each other. Every single gun was viable, so pvp was an intense battle arena where people actually fought each other.

1 RispondiModificato da iZooooo: 5/11/2016 4:45:00 AMIt's my NLB code to never back down from a sniper duel.
-
1 RispondiYa, why don't players just give up and die? I mean, why do they run away or use an ability or super or ranged weapon? They should just die for me instead. That is what I read in your post.
-
1 RispondiI would say I'm a gunfighter, but you do have to know when to run away and fight again
-
14 RisposteIkr, isnt it crazy that in a game where players are able to punch, throw grenades, snipe and super, that they punch, throw grenades, snipe and super. It's just unbelievable!
-
1 RispondiPersonally I feel like destiny is getting much more tactical and by that I mean you have to avoid sniper lanes always be moving and set traps where an enemy will push you and you just lore them to the rest of your team
-
6 RisposteQuite often I try and challenge too much (my shitty kd the result). Got 49% of my kills with primary, most of them from scouts. Sumtimes I think I need to work on my fight or flight instinct. More power to the people who know when to dip out and fight on their own terms.
-
It's because the time to kill on primaries was nerfed
-
4 RisposteNo. Gunskill is a thing of the past. Throw grenades first. Wombo combo with reckless abandon.
-
1 RispondiWell, we are running around with Nerf guns...just sayin'.
-
1 RispondiModificato da Janice Griffith: 5/10/2016 6:44:33 PMGunfights? I thought guns were for shooting not hitting with?😜
-
3 RisposteNo they don't, even in mayhem clash I see a bunch of people camping with snipers...
-
1 Rispondiif i wanted to play a game with gunfights, i'd play CoD. just sayin'. this week is gonna be all Mayhem Clash, allll the time for me :3
-
2 RisposteI don't necessarily agree or disagree Truth is I have plenty of gun battles... I win some, I lose some. I often try and play smarter than just charging ahead with a scout rifle though. You have abilities and grenades for a reason, use them to add variety to each engagement and you'll not only outplay your opponent more often, but you'll probably have a lot of fun too. You can have the best of both. Don't be a stampeding bull or a scared little chipmunk...rather be cautiously aggressive and tactical in every scenario.
-
2 RisposteHonestly why would I purposefully handicap myself by only using my guns? If I have a grenade ready to help me in a gunfight, I'm going to use it. It would be stupid not to do so.
-
1 RispondiI agree, my reason for slightly decreasing my aggression is that when ever I challenge a single opposing player, I'm smashed by cover fire
-
1 RispondiThrowing Knives and Tripmines for life. -blam!- a primary
-
1 RispondiBecause there is no way I'm challenging a golden gun, fist of havoc, shoulder charge, blade dancer, doctrine of passing, firebolt grenade or a god damn blink shot gun....
-
2 RisposteI personally try to gunfight as much as possible, my special weapon is only used when someone gets too close.
-
1 RispondiNope not on 360 at least. Nobody ever challenges anything.
ITS SO BORING
-
1 RispondiI don't get these posts. Sure you gunfight when the situation calls for it but if you are not using every weapon and ability at your disposal, and based on the situation at hand, you are probs going to die more often than not. If I'm in a 1v1 gunfight and I spot someone coming up behind me on my radar, I'm gonna switch to shotgun and blow their blammin' head off. If I suspect that a bunch of enemies are down the end of a corridor I'm about to enter, I'll nade before firing a single shot. If the map calls for snipers, damn it I'll use a sniper. If a bunch of enemies are crowding a position I'm gonna do everything I can to super the freaking lot of them. I'm by no means good at PVP, but I'm gonna use whatever I can. If I could pick up a rock and throw it I would.

1 RispondiWhy do people make stupid edits for their post success? Does my head in -.-
