The Vex Have Already Won.
Just stopped to think about it. They have the entire system trapped in a Timeloop. Ever wonder why you find yourself killing Oryx, Skolas, and all of those other nuisances every week? Time loop. The Vex already have control of our Solar System, and then some. That's why they still have a future (Descendants). The Vex can't completely eradicate the Guardians, so they keep them contained in an inescapable and unending cycle of repetition. It's all part of the Pattern. Abandon all hope.

Some good points/ counterpoints here. In case you all haven't figured it out, this is all just a reason to get the community hacking and speculating. Destiny has both a TON of lore yet minimal actual story that really anything can go, and it's fun to discuss. I'm still convinced that the Vex have more control than any of us think, and maybe we'll see the Stranger again soon. Why else would she have such concern over the Vex and what they're capable of?

Crazy to see how much this is trending. I'm by no means a lore expert, but it's interesting to get the community together to see what theories we can come up with in regards to possibly the most mysterious antagonist group in the game. I'd love to see them explored more deeply in-game as I don't have the time to read through all the Grimoire. This definitely beats reading the endless crybaby posts about Bungie. Hopefully they delve more into the Vex soon. Keep the discussion going, Guardians! Lots of good stuff here.

I think Guardians still have the upperhand of being damn near immortal. You can keep changing time but we'll still live and die for eternity regardless what they try.

That's not time loop. It's called lack of content. Also Vex do not have control or power over Time. That power only exist within the Vault of Glass.

6 RisposteA circular time loop is suggested from the first scene of the game. That opening cinematic on Mars you see the mountains changing as the astronauts walk at a steady pace. Mountains take millions of years to change therefore it's safe to say all that has happened so far has already happened and will happen again.

If we're in a time loop then it would reset to the furthest point. That would be fighting Atheon or when your ghost wakes you up.

1 RispondiThe thing that grabs my attention is when your on patrol. When the scrambled message comes in. After completing the 3 steps the ghost says" the message came from.... oh nevermind" or something along those lines. Maybe you send the message to yourself? It does ask you to express your emotions at one point. And I remember reading that somewhere else also.

3 RisposteI still believe the vex were once machines that existed inside the traveler. I believe "that place" that Savathun tricked crota into cutting into was the traveler. The vex came through, pouring into the hive throne world, who quickly learned the power of killing (sword logic) and worship of the worms. The vex then created the black garden and began worshipping the darkness via the black heart which was actively draining the travelers light. Too many grimoire connections between the garden and gardeners and the vex and the traveler to be coincidence in my opinion.

2 RisposteDr. Shim theorized that they were in a Vex mind but were saved by the Warmind. They were then reunited with several versions of themselves and lots of other things happen. They could still be in a Vex mind, but they were tricked into thinking they were saved just to keep them appeased and unknowledgeable about their actual state of existence. An even more interesting theory is that every death in a darkness zone is your actual guardian's death - like the one we see dead on the moon or on the Psion Flayers strike inside the furnace where the heavy ammo crate is. The next "life" is actually a completely different version of your guardian in a parallel timeline. My original guardian died many many months ago.

The vex currently cannot control or change time outside of the vault of glass and we effectively cut there ability of ever being able to do so off. I like to believe that the Black heart and Sol Progeny where the links/keys to open the vault of glass into the out side world. With us destroying them we cut off this link, not to say the vex do not have another way but for now they are stuck only being able to use there powers within the vault. To go further into the Vex, they currently have the ability to see the past, the present and what the future holds but like I stated they have no way of changing the world outside of the Vault of Glass, at least for now.

8 RisposteI've always considered the Vex as not actually hostile. I can't think of any time the Vex actually assaulted Humanity. All confrontations with the Vex are defensive in nature, either protecting their territory or operations. Not to say they are just friendly and misunderstood, I mean they are trying to assimilate planets. The Vex can freely manipulate time, it's how they "teleport". If they wanted to they could just [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkplPbd2f60]timewarp[/url] their way into the City and kill everyone, but they don't. The special version of the Paradox mission has said that the Vex consider their existence to be codependent with the Guardians. Any number of the Vex of will sacrifice themselves to maintain the Pattern, thus they allow themselves to be killed when they deem it necessary. [spoiler]Then again, maybe the Traveler exudes some kind of space magic field that prevents the Vex, or the Taken, from just freely teleporting into the City. [/spoiler]

Perhaps that's why the vex wanted us to go into the VoG and stop the taken. If the taken destroyed the Vault, the timeloop would stop entirely. Oryx would remain dead. We couldn't go do the raid again. We couldn't get new higher-light gear. What happens? Our progression stops in terms of gear, but our time progression does continue.

Oh, someone else who has spotted the time loop. Sweet. I thought the McGuffin was that the Ghost salvaged a dodgy jump drive for our ship and Amanda used that design in all the ships that she repaired afterwards. The jump drive always sends us back in time to the day the City fell, and we are actually experiencing those events. Combined with that the Traveller keeps the City on a week long loop leading up to that day and as far as the residents of the City are concerned we are The Guardian who arrives and then starts fixing everything within the week. Something about US though, something about our ghost, or our ship, keeps us insulated from resetting all our equipment each week. Probably happens to all Guardians.

If thats the case, perhaps the exo stranger is here to guide us to break the cycle and defeat the vex with their own trickery.

Modificato da ZeroProxy: 4/26/2016 12:12:40 PMOk going on the "matrix" theory, I know it's probably already evidence otherwise but, What if it IS all a simulation but as someone mentioned before we keep getting stronger and closer to finding out the truth because of people like the stranger who want to free us, and this variable of us getting stronger was something the vex have not solved and so they've implemented a reset system much like the matrix, which I think would be the "Collapse" what if there have been many collapses before? Like when The One was supposed to return to the mainframe to trigger a reset.

1 RispondiNext weekly update: due to some confusion amongst players in the community and to maintain plot accuracy we are restricting doing every activity once so guardians don't get confused why they are fighting the same bosses over and over again and think that it's all the vexes fault.
