Why does Oryx just let you kill him?

Then his vessel knight said, dude, put a relic in the air that they can only get if they stand on those platforms in that order. Bro you're so right, how confident are you that they won't get the relic. Oryx my dude, I'm so confident they won't get it, that by some chance they do, if they slam it on me it will transfer my aura to them. Yeah I know right, I'll do you one up, I'll crack my rib cage open so they can shoot me. Then the Ogres said what about us? How about we charge them just in case they are close to getting the relic? In fact we are so confident that won't happen, if they kill us we will turn into blight bombs they can detonate to kill you Big O. Because curiosity is her nature... in order to feed her worm she must always satisfy her nature... so she let us in to see if we could even make it to her throne room.. and then to see if we could actually slay her... it was her agreement with the worm. it doesn't necessarily mean she is dead as one of her sisters could potentially resurrect if they display enough curiosity to rouse her spirit from the ashes

Am I the only one who wishes the Sword of Oryx (the one that comes out in the cutscene at the end of The Coning War) was a raid boss also? Idk. He seemed like one of Oryx's top Knights. So much potential, reduced to "that guy you have to kill and use the sword to take down his shields" :(

And once I got there and saw how he went about fighting us I'd think I was on the show Punk'd or something. Or that Oryx was just tricking us to make us only think he's dead
