The number of people using snipers is ruining Iron Banner.
I have no problem with snipers themselves, I don't really feel like they're all that great, but the sheer number of players using snipers in Iron Banner is honestly ruining the flow of the game. It's currently slowed down way too much because people fear being picked off around every corner they turn, and certain parts of maps are being shut down completely by just 1-2 people using snipers. Something needs to be done with the other three special weapon types so players are more likely to use all four types equally, instead of 95% using just snipers. It's getting quite ridiculous now, and there's a large number of my friends deciding to skip iron banner, and the crucible all together because of it, which I find sad.
Edit: This has nothing to do with being killed by a sniper or that I think they're overpowered. This is about the amount of people using them and how it ruins the flow of the maps and game in general. Please stop responding with the typical "learn how to counter it" that has nothing to do with anything, even when I do flank them and everything suggested, I can't do anything about teammates that still continually run out and get picked off trying to counter snipe, and other stupid shit that eventually loses the game.
Edit: Day 4 of Iron Banner, started to play on my hunter after achieving rank 5 on my warlock. The land is still corrupt with red glows as far as I can see.
Turn a corner, get picked off.
Run to cover, get picked off.
Enter a room, get picked off.
Use super, get picked off.
Out shoot enemy, get picked off by said enemy at any given range.
Spawn, get picked off.
Return to orbit, get picked off.
This is just sad.

Last night my friends and i had a match on Frontier that started out really odd. We pushed the bridge, i flanked right and...nothing. No radar, no shots, it was dead quiet. I pushed into the building and peered down the hall and i was looking at 4 shiny scopes. *guardian down* So the game these guys wanted to play was "dig in like an Alabama tick" and scope all the entrances, super fun, I know. So we won, because grenades are a thing and we can snipe you too but it was the total lack of any aggression that really made the match lame. I get being conservative but that was ridiculous.

I use snipers and sidearms. Can't stand to use a shotgun after y 1 and I'm just bad at using them. I picked up a sniper since the beginning and I'm not putting it down.

Problem is, if you don't use a sniper you're screwed. So it basically forces people to try and become MLG quickscopers

2 RisposteI agree, ran up the left corridor from alpha spawn, was greeted with not 1, not 2, not even 3 or 4 but 5 bloody snipers. And to make it worse, they kept using snipers all game. I do however tip my hat to the one brave soul in black shield that no scoped me with NLB.

I mentioned this before but what Bungie needs to do is make other weapon alternatives more juicy. This taken king expansion pack is the era of sniping, hopefully it changes in the next expansion pack.

4 RisposteThere's only four options. Fusion's overall are weak, side arms are great but not as popular. In IB, light lvl matters. Most players will be using there highest light weapons [b]**SHOTGUN/SNIPER**[/b]. Quit bitching

This is tough. I have sniped (with various degrees of success) more than ever. I've been sniped a lot. The issue is too much ammo! Way to much ammo. That's always been the problem with snipers and shotguns. Bungie reluctance to fairly balance the game is the issue. Solution: special ammo crate refills max capacity 2 SHOTS. THATS IT. 2 rounds per crate for special. (Ahh the humanity!) Probably move all sniper weapons to the double and triple tap damage. Reduce boss health for PVE. maybe this will better balance PVP. Just a thought.

Must just be your neck of the woods friend. I'd see a few every match but for the most part I'm seeing a healthy mix of all types of weapons.

I don't have an issue with snipers. I've sniped. I have issue with the ones that all the do is snipe, snipe, snipe. I was with a group on Pantheon, and what do I see waiting for us? 3 perched, aimed and ready. They remained there until we snuck them from behind. Maybe I'm missing something? Maybe they're very good, but what's the point of playing if all you'll do is camp and snipe. Needless to say, they were pretty much useless once flushed out.

A lot of those sniping will be hard scoped on an area, so no radar, flank them and snipe them back/whip out your primary and take them out. Not any map that you can't do this on, I'm not great at PvP but most ib matches this time around I've gone positive so I don't see the sniping as a major issue you just need to adapt your game.

I agree. Next Iron Banner let's make primary weapons only no special no heavy. Maybe some will be made aware that primary weapons exist. "Can you believe it what a shocker destiny actually does have other weapons" tongue in cheek

That's all I've been doing this IB and I've been getting nonstop 2.0 K/Ds every game.
