How are they not, the way each faction handles post apocalyptia describes the mentality of all of the parties. Bos is republican in their racist attitude towards the synth and believe in nothing less than their destruction, you have to have extremely high charisma to save danse, it takes some serious convincing to let him go. Railroad is democrat because they believe in saving all synths, even the bad ones, and even the gen 1s. Minute men are libertarian in the sense they are neutral to the other factions but believe in establishing peace throughout the Commonwealth by uniting all the settlements together. Institute is socialist because they they steal resources from aboveground to fund their own belief in being humanity's only hope.
