Before everyone takes out the torches and pitchforks hear me out. I'm thinking that golden gun should get a buff that makes it better in PVE rather than just PVP. Celestial nighthawk makes the golden gun shot worth it, but the other three shots without any exotics are a bit underwhelming. Golden gun is for single target damage, so it should have more damage per shot, considering it only has 3.
In pvp, giving it more damage would cause some problems, since it would allow the gun to be used at a much greater range than before, since damage falloff would take longer to render the golden gun useless. But considering pvp map limitations, rather than pve map limitations, a buff to damage might not be so bad.
One problem would be that increasing damage for golden gun shots might make the defender bubble more vulnerable, allowing it to get killed in one shot instead of two. I'm not sure how it would make defender Titans feel, considering their bubble is vulnerable enough to supers.
Besides pvp, there are a lot of problems with damage falloff with golden gun in pve rather than pvp. In pvp you could practically snipe someone using the golden gun. But when I pulled the gun out once something different happened. I was in the taniks strike, where you fight the fallen spider tank. I had my back against the door and used a golden gun shot against a sniping vandal on the far side of the area. I used it, but it took less than half of its health.
And I know that while a golden gun shot is instantaneous, unlike hammer of sol, golden gun is a single damage weapon, not a multi killer. The subclass should adapt more to pve with its super.
Edit: I think the best solution I heard so far is that golden gun should have precision damage. Maybe double the damage on precision shots. This would eliminate 3 problems
1. This would eliminate the problem with the bubble, since it would take the same amount of damage to pop it considering that shots don't do precision damage to bubbles.
2. The super would not change the damage for body shots in pvp
3. Finally, this will indirectly improve damage output on mobs in pve, since it will allow for double the damage, if all golden gun shots hit the head
*Then celestial nighthawk would deal 12x damage on precision hits instead of 6x because of the precision damage buff.
This would make celestial nighthawk amazing for single damage output on precision kills, allowing you to down hallowed ogres and absolutely destroy bosses with high damage output.
(From the feedback received in the thread it seems better that golden gun should just receive precision damage rather than 6 shots with half damage on body shots.)
Edit 2:
Perk changes that affect golden gun
Circle of life perk should be replaced with a transcendence-like perk, where golden gun lasts longer if your melee is charged before using the gun
Deadeye should improve accuracy as well as provide a better zoom and target acquisition

Also, I wanted to add, what should the circle of life and deadeye perks be replaced with? I thought for circle of life a transcendence perk would be good, increasing the duration of golden gun when you have a full melee charge. And then deadeye would boost handling and target acquisition, in addition to accuracy. Maybe the perk could even add a scope, as a small buff to improve the function of the super.

2 RisposteSo... What you're saying is that you turn golden gun into a sniper rifle? Two body shots to kill... Golden gun is fine. It doesn't need changing.

In PvE this is a complete buff very easily. PvP this isn't a buff or a nerf, simply a readjustment of how it works. It will lean to either side depending on how good or bad the player is.

1 RispondiJust make golden gun do 100x the damage it does now and I'll be happy

1 RispondiModificato da Warlock: 2/19/2016 4:36:04 PMIn my opinion, they need to buff the damage and extend the time limit Edit: also, it should be able to crit for more damage. That would make it pretty cool to use in pve

Inise the Explosion Perk with non Nighthawk and wait for groups. Work pretty well. But ya normal GG against yellows needs a buff.
-
1 RispondiModificato da Trox45: 2/19/2016 4:44:53 PMUse nighthawk for PVE and you'll do over 30,000 damage with your one shot. And it works fine in pvp, so use young ahamkaras spine to get a second tripmine. Best of both worlds.
-
Just give it a precision multiplier. Minimal impact to PvP and makes it better in PvE.
-
1 RispondiJust throwing this out there. How about keep the damage the same but make it up to 8 shots for 10 seconds BUT after the 3rd shot if you do not get a precision hit GG ends. That way it rewards precision like other gunslinger perks. Plus I think it would make the class a little more fun to play with in PvE. Keep it the same for PvP
-
I'd say it's fine. Maybe a small armor bonus but nothing else.

3 RisposteI wonder how supers in general would work if they became significantly more stronger, but took a lot longer to charge. Like 1 golden gun shot is strong enough to take like a third of an ogres health during the oryx fight. So 3 shots would kill it. A slam or nova bomb would kill it. But it takes much, much longer to charge. How would people feel about this?
-
4 RisposteDoesn't matter if it's PvE or PvP. GG needs a damage buff. Range wouldn't be a problem in PvP since it already one-shots at sniper range.
-
1 RispondiYeah GG for PvE sucks booty

5 RisposteModificato da MLN_Toad: 2/19/2016 3:07:22 PMThe only thing I'm not fond of is that kills with throwing knife extend golden gun, throwing knives don't one shot so it's a useless perk. Unless you have double Melee gauntlets then maybe it's ok. Needs a complete over haul.
-
3 RisposteIts hard to make a safe buff for Golden Gun because it has some mechanics similar to Nova Bomb. In PvP they're both devastatingly dangerous, in PvE they seem lackluster. Golden Gun and Nova Bomb both also have a key advantage over other supers in that they can recharge faster than other supers thanks to their skill trees. I would also argue that both could use a very minor damage buff for PvE as they don't do as much as you hope they could.

Increase pve damage by 100%
-
10 RisposteGolden gun doesn't have damage falloff. It's a fine super.
-
2 RispostePvp doesn't need any buff
-
1 RispondiMy idea for a simple buff would be to change circle of life's effect too "kills with golden gun increase the duration if golden gun". Make it actually a worthwhile perk instead of garbage.
-
1 RispondiLet's golden gun hit crits

6 RisposteThe problem with golden gun in PVE is its lack of damage. Three shots should kill a tier one mob currently that's not the case.
