Datto and holtzmanns solution to DoT
They said that Damage over time (DoT) should only keep your shield down and not touch your health. That goes for thorn and firebolts only though.
Edit:Btw these changes wouldn't affect pve in any way.
Edit 2: I never said my opinion so don't hate me. This is an idea two very respected players had and Im only asking your thoughts on this. Second thing is that when I say shields I mean the big bar that's before your health, not over shields (force barrier or flame shield).
Edit: someone fcked up the 50/50. Who did that?

Dot is a thing, grow up behave like gentlemen and accept it, dot can be removed when things that make your health regen are removed, that is all. Every ying must have a yang.

My only issue currently with warlock is viking funeral. Here are the positives from a warlocks point of view. 1. Prevents enemy from healing for a good amount of time. 2. I can see them burning and track their movement behind cover. 3. I can use scorch melee and kill low armor enemies with 1 punch. (Scorch +viking funeral =199 total dmg) Now the point of view of player vs Sunsinger viking funeral. 1. Just got hit with a Firebolt now I gotta run from my position and hope the opponent does shoot me in the back with 1 bullet 2. Can't take cover cuz the opponent knows where I'm at and can push in at any moment while I'm on fire. 3. I'm a AGL based hunter and I just got punched before killing that warlock now I have to somehow regen health or else I will die to burn or one of his partners shoots me. Firebolt is not the issue it's the fact that bungie feels that a neutral game focused subclass is balanced where as a super focused subclass is imbalance. Yes I'm a titan main with no warlock. But I do have experience using warlocks and honestly y1 was great using it. Now I just don't like using warlocks or hunters cuz of my own personal reasons.

2 RisposteAs a fan of holtz and the planet destiny team, I'm surprised they are leaning in this direction. Removing the dmg destroys this subclasses super. As a sunlock, I'm fine losing the dot, and have a large, pulsing output of fire as a super instead.

Nah. I like the dot because it's different than everything else. Maybe they could lower the damage, or make thorn dot only proc on head shots...but I think it should stay
