Think about it. IB is end game content. Always has been.
You can run King's Fall hard mode every single week and it will probably only take you a few hours. Challenge mode guarantees you 320 loot and there are multiple additional chances to get high level loot from all the chests.
Iron Banner comes maybe once a month and takes many more hours over multiple days to reach rank 5. Contrast the PVE end game rewards and frequency to the PVP alternative and you quickly see how pathetic the rank 5 reward structure is.
It's illogical. Bungie has clearly focused on catering to their PVP base with almost every event and update since the launch of TTK and yet they elect to pair this PVP focus with crap rewards. How exactly are the PVP players supposed to stay engaged and excited when there is almost zero chance of receiving worthwhile rewards?
Edit: Within the first 200 comments we got Cozmo's attention and he says he agrees with our thinking on the issue and that he'll be passing the request on to the team for consideration in the next IB. Keep this trending and we just might see some action taken. Thanks for the bumps!

So Bungie, any chance you'll implement this feedback when the event starts tomorrow? Sadly I'm guessing not, but I suppose we'll see.

7 RisposteAt least 300 or 310. It's a light-level based engagement, the rewards should reflect as such. When I'm 295 fighting 315's, I would appreciate seeing my work reciprocated with worthwhile rewards at least when I win. I had a good week in the Banner, in fact overwhelmingly good for my usual experience. Two Sidekicks in a week? I would have gjally-freaked if Bungie at some point gave me a 300+ Ironwreath. But that never happened. The closest I got was a 310 blue artifact, 287 Colovance with VENDOR PERKS, and two pairs of 281 boots. When I have weapons all floating around the 290-295 range, the LAST THING I WANT IS ANOTHER IN THE 280'S. As someone who doesn't raid or have anyone I'd like to run trials with, this is a pretty disheartening predicament. I played sweaties for a whole week, and my light level went up by two points due to an artifact that I broke down into my already equipped one. So I went from a static 293 to roughly 295/296. It's a good thing I really wanted that Colovance's Duty, else I would be entirely too salty toward the Iron Banner right now.

153 RisposteYou make a good point in that now that there's a guaranteed way to get a 320 drop for PVE in challenge mode, there should also be an avenue on the PVP side. We'll consider it for future Iron Banner events.
-
1 RispondiI'm going to have to say that trials is more endgame. But I think rank 5 should give something proportionally higher than what you light level currently is. Like 300's should get 305 pieces of armor/weapons, 310's should get stuff around 315 ish, and so on. I have been stuck on 314 for like a month and a half because I get unlucky in the light house and I don't want to do the raid anymore

49 RisposteIB is not end game content. ToO is end game PvP. IB is just a once monthly event. Rewards should not be the same for PvP and PvE because those two aspects of the game are completely different. In PvP you are matched against others to test your skill level. So if I grind out a week of IB and I suck at PvP, I do not deserve a 320 piece of gear. 320 gear should be awarded for doing something special, not just reaching a certain level in a particular game mode. Bounties that require a PvP player to do extraordinary things like kill 20 guardians in one match, obtain a 2.0 KD with greater than 20 kills, or ignite a rift at least 4 times in one match are feats that are things only really good players can do. Simply competing in a match with a piece of IB gear on is not. Those bounties are a joke. I state this and I am not a good PvP player at all! I'm perhaps somewhat mediocre. However, I don't expect a 320 anything from IB. I play for the little extra challenge and because I typically like a weapon or want the armor. I'll play my challenge modes in PvE and rank up my weapons with infusion.

2 RisposteLet my people progress!!! I don't want to hold on to my one 320 ghost and helmet forever! I don't even have a 320 class item. 5 months in ladies and gentlemen! Flawless 4 times 50 raid completions. Rank 5 iron banner idk how many times Let my ppl go!!! We want our gear at 320 and it won't ever happen in our current state. Not the raid gear- The good stuff, man! We need infusion material to infuse the stuff we want infused for infusion. Infuse or not to infuse- that is the question. What's up?

Sounds about right ^^

3 RisposteIf Bungie fixed awards so the 1st character dropped at 310-320, the 2nd 315-320 and the third all 320, that would incentivize people to grind all 3 and give you a reason to grind. That solves "challenge mode" of other baloney to restrict rewards to high light players. Just make it worth grinding.

1 RispondiBump Need alternative methods besides just Raids. All about options.

3 RisposteModificato da MrsCryptarch: 2/3/2016 12:08:26 AMI see what you're saying but it's not illogical. There's no guaranteed avenue to 320 loot through anything MATCH MADE like Iron Banner because that would be too easy. I have the help of 11 other match made people everyday some participating some not, to guarantee me 320 loot by rank 5 versus earning that 320 loot from putting in the effort to find a group and working as a whole toward what's still just a possibility of that loot dropping if not doing challenge mode. Trials could offer a guaranteed 320 in the Lighthouse, but they wouldn't offer that in something match made. Besides don't they give us a buff toward the end of IB? So they're literally sending us to Rank 5 for a guaranteed 320? I don't think so.

I totally agree

1 RispondiWe even got better loot (at better drop rates) from SRL... WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO IRON BANNER?!?!?!
-
1 RispondiGlad to see this is still getting attention. Here's another BUMP.
-
3 RisposteIron Banner is the easiest thing ever and is NOT END GAME CONTENT. It may have level based MM but it is far and away no where near competitive. Try having a team of 290's dominate Trials. Not going to happen.
