Iron Banner Rift - As bad as you imagined!
Holy Christ, this was the worst idea ever.
Edit-
Reasons why:
Shit map rotation. -blam!-ing cathedral of dusk.
Red bars everywhere, worse than ever.
Games get lopsided too quickly, so there are way more quitters.
It's a stupid -blam!-ing game mode to begin with.
Edit 2-
I got paired with better connections overall last night, closer to what IB had felt like in the past (so still not great).
Rift is still stupid, and cathedral of dusk can still eat a dick.

The problem is that even if they fix all the red barring and also balanced out the teams the maps are designed poorly for the game mode. 90% of the maps are unbalanced for rift

Lag will be better today with the connection based matchmaking, as for last night. I'm hella average, I did 14 matches, won most of them, and I was the top overall score 2 or more times just running spark. It was easy, even mercied a team cause they camped instead of ran the spark.

I am at a complete loss for why Bungie insists on limiting the number of available maps, and worse yet, they picked some really bad maps to play on. I don't know one person that likes Cathedral of Dusk and yet they have shoved it down our throats for two IB's in a row. And with all of the really good maps at their disposal, it seems we are limited to only [b]6[/b] maps total. Why? WHY???? If you grind IB, especially on 3 different characters, 6 maps get so damn old, so damn fast. Oh, and did I mention that cathedral of Dusk SUUUUUUCKS!!

4 RisposteI understand why people like rift.. it completely takes skill out of the game.. the guy who camps the spark and just runs with it gets more points then anyone else. Seriously it promotes bad players to think they are good at a game type. just sad. If bungie wants to balance things balance this game type out of destiny. Thanks for ruining Iron Banner bungie on this one.

It's ridiculous how many games have been called since I started playing IB yesterday. Literally about 1 of 3 rift games were called due to a blowout. The scores get lopsided so quickly. This is the least fun game type for the IB so far. Keep control or even Clash. At least the games lasted for more than 3 minutes.

I haven't tried IB rift yet but to be honest I'm kinda glad bungie is trying to mix things up a bit. People complain about the game mode and I could see why people dislike it especially if your going in solo but the majority of the hate surrounding this months IB still revolves around red bars and quitters. This of course is an ongoing issue and with IB rift active you can clearly see proof of the issues first hand. Like I stated before I'm glad bungie mixed things up with rift this month and perhaps this too is just a test run for gathering data but if that's the case then I can only hope that those problems stated above are resolved swiftly. X)

2 RisposteIn terms of wins, as a solo player i actually have had some luck, and have won probably about 50% of my games. I can't complain about that. However, half of those loses i have accrued have been by a mercy rule. This game type is too hard to recover from if you lose out on the first couple sparks, and the amount of people quitting matches has been astronomical because of this, which only enforces how hard it is to recover. Bungie, you tried something new, we all appreciate that. But like all experiments, some of them are bound to fail, and although i have been doing decently, and i don't absolutely hate rift, i think that i would chalk this up as a failure. Many of these games get lopsided fast, and there is no recovering. Objective game modes in iron banner are not a good idea in general, in my opinion, thanks to objective game types really being kind of an acquired taste. . The way i see it, deathmatch game modes are like vanilla cake, it may not be your favorite, but youll eat it, and you probably won't complain. Objective game modes are like carrot cake, you either love it, or you hate it.

Just played another round of a full fire team against single players. They need to give out more than 5 medallions at this point.

5 RisposteRemember when no one was patrolling anymore? Then they added treasure keys for chests for PoE and everyone had to patrol again. No one plays Rift anymore.... why not force people to play it to get rewards. "We put a lot of hard work into that mode and it's not used. Let's make them love it." And I think IB drops are broken again, I played all night on multiple characters and didn't see one IB drop all night. I know a lot of people aren't rank three yet but I had drops from 1-5 last time.
