My hypothesis is that Bungie has devoted most of their time to getting the new DLC ready. When they're mostly done they might bring their tech support back in to fix this issue. I'm sure they're aware of it by now. Maybe this one has them stumped. I'm probably going to take a break from Destiny and come back after the weekly reset and see if anything has changed.
