Crafting would make Trading worthwhile I'd think. I'd like to think so.

Even if it were just modifying gun colors and stuff like that it would make the game so much more diverse.

Would make your arsenal more special

trading and crafting are a terrible idea for this game.

You'd have to explain why, in detail.

Trading, it's obviously going to start a black market for weapons and people spending unreasonable amount of money, which makes the game pay to win. There is no way Bungie wants to deal with complaints about people spending there money when they shouldn't. Crafting, there will be absolutely no point of doing any pve activity or have a reward system, why waste time getting weapons that could be outclassed by something you could make. "We can make a mechanic that uses those weapons, use glimmer or limit how many times per week". well that would make the game even more frustrating and make more people angry. If you can think of a way of making trading and crafting that wouldn't make a bunch of dumb people making dumb decisions and make parent complain about losing there money, then i'm all ears.

The crafting one is a bit misguided because if crafting is a thing then materials become necessary.

Crafting to what degree? Weapon/gear modification, base creation, vehicles?
