Revives Need to be Nerfed - Discussion with Datto

I recognize dealing with revives is essential to success in trials. However, with fast revive gear, it can be oppressively strong to spam revives during a match. Revive mechanics currently rewards sloppy play. Shields are strong, immunity frames are silly, and getting revived should be a risky last ditch effort. Dying early should be punished...Instead, teams are forced to get up close with shotguns to stop a revive, or use sniper ammo after it has already happened. Essentially, primaries are useless during revives, and causes a situation where you either stop the revive before it happens, or have to wait until it is over with before you can react to it. This lack of counter play needs to be fixed IMO...but I'd love to hear what you think Ps: Datto hasn't whined or even called for the nerf. I think they are the issue and believe they aren't being done properly. Don't be calling him out when he is more on your side than I am. Edit: Shocked at how many people aren't even watching the video and trying to discuss this. It is as if nobody is even listening to the arguments and understanding why... I'm not asking to nerf them into the ground, just stop rewarding people for dying.

    • I think revives should punish the other team for getting downed i think the person getting the Rez should have to "sacrifice" half their health and give that half to the teammate. Once they get away of course they can regen it. Also to counter Rez sniping the respawn should be a couple feet to the side of the bubble (in a random placement of course) however there will be no immunity forcing the team to use strategy to pick up their teammate. Also there will be no over shields and the time to revive will be slightly reduced and the exotics will make it even lower. What do you guys think?

I can't tell you how many times I've seen trials players jump and snipe in the beginning of a round and take out a team mate. So getting killed in the first 5 seconds of the match should penalize you? Because someone max out their agility runs to your spawn and thousand yard stares you into oblivion? Yeah no, I stand by my opinion and think this thread is retarded. If you really don't like this stuff maybe you should play another game.

      Ya I see the point but sounds like destiny two to me, any change with over shield sounds like it's in the code but the armor sounds like something they could do now. They should fix the run and rez.

        • Prevention of the revive should happen before the guardian reaches the ball. Once they get there, you missed your opportunity to stop them. Like a jailbreak in CTF, you have to stop them before they free everyone.

Atm u can rez ur team mate after 5 sec of his death and each time timer gets 5 sec higher so its 10, 15 etc. It just could start from 10 sec and then go same as now, increase next rez timer by 5 sec. Then "losing" team would need to stay near longer the body and it gives other team more time to rush/do what ever they want cos they have superiority against opponent team. Or make it more penalty some other way.

        • So what is being said is the team who is reviving should be punished twice? Why can't the killing team just push up on the body. If you don't want the opposing team to revive and get shields either snipe the rez or push up. I'm sick and tired of people of complaining when it's just out of pure laziness. Just because you can't sit back and spawn or in a comfortable spot to win... Being put into a situation makes things interesting and makes you have to think. In my humble opinion revives shouldn't be nerfed what do ever. The shields and immune is the price paid for sitting back instead of pushing up and communicating as a whole team. Deal with the threat Guardians.

        • Solution is simple. Do it like in nightfall. 30 second waiting period before you can revive. That should fix the issue.

            Ive literally said this since the very first week of Trials. Simple concept Bungie, why reward (not only) a player for dying, but his teammate as well? Elimination game modes have been around for ever, revive shields make utterly no sense in a game based around offense and defense tactics. It literally removes tactics from the game and rewards the bad players for dying, and punishes the good players (who should be pushing/pinching) the remaining players. Assuming Bungie wont nerf the shield, a few extra seconds on the rez its self should be enough to ultimately "punish" the player. This would allow plenty of time for the opposing team to get map control/push. Edit: 2-4 seconds extra really would allow any decent team to capitalize.

          • I think the times are okay but think that the reviver should not have a over shield or be invulnerable, but the revived player should have more of a shield

          • I'm gonna disagree.....this would cater to one play style picking and choosing your revives is part of trials if you and your team can't prevent a revive "guarding a ghost" that's on you and your team preventing revives is a part of the challenge. No one will attempt a revive if three are guarding and two are left, an if you have to stand there and get sniper or shotgun your just not gonna try now lets say you get taken down next to your team that just leaves a bigger opportunity for your teamate to be taken out.....this discussion just sounds like it's catering to who gets the first kill and that sounds like a one sided match up

          • video is dull... complaining about revives in trials. if you dont have a way to watch the body why are you killing it? revives are what make trials fun. you are not punished for revives ever! every kill you are getting a advantage revive needs to be spead up. fast res should not have deminishing returns. that would make fast res garbage. how about we buff weapons rather then punishing everyone?

          • Keep in mind that with fast rez gear, they are sacrificing their exotic armor slot for a piece centered around their team dying. It isn't that bad imo
