EDIT: Atari 2600 (1977) is not an option, I'm so sorry, there's no point in doing a poll if you already assume the results. (I had to choose between removing older consoles or last gen, and I assumed there are more kids in here than old school gamers, my bad).
There's no better and more accurate way to understand this community than by our first contact with games.
Tell your story on gaming, if it's a passion or casual leisure.
My first console was Sega Genesis
And the first game: Sonic 2
I had a super nintendo after that and used to play some N64 on my best friend's house, he was the rich one..
I really got into gaming and saw my fav franchises rising or reaching their top on psone and ps2.
I followed the playstation line cause, understand, I got nothing against xbox, but it's strong related to my childhood and the games I grew up playing.
The current console wars is so dumb for me, cause we used to get along just for having an interest in common, we were rare, outsiders, it doesn't matter if your favorite was sony, nintendo, sega or microsoft.

2 RisposteMy first console was an NES with Super Mario Bros. I also had a PC with Quest for Glory V: So you want to be a Hero(I believe that's what it was). I never memorized the prompt to boot the PC, so I never got to play it much. After that, got a Game Boy and SNES, got some damn good games for it like FF III, Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger. Moved onto the 64, my dad got me and my siblings a PlayStation, which was awesome because both FF and Mega Man X moved to Sony too. GameCube and PS2 came soon after, as well as a GBA. After getting a job, I bought my own Xbox, and Halo with it (and a fanboy was born) and a GBA SP and then a DS (and later a Lite and PSP) Bought a 360 (mailed back many more), and a Wii, my girlfriend at the time bought me a PS3 (she is now my wife), and we got an Xbone last year for the MCC. Earlier this year I got a Wii U and 3DS. Sometime next year we'll get a PS4.

3 RisposteITT: Liars. Anybody with an account under 2 years old who tries to tell you their first console was older than 6th gen is trying to appeal to the retro crowd for some reason. Our first console was a Nintendo 64, but we also had a Windows 98 PC that ran DOS games too. I went and purchased a SNES during my last year of School in 2013 but I'm not counting that, since I didn't obtain it when it was still supported/relevant.
