If that's what you want to do then more power to you but it looks like after a month or so they will give it to everybody for free (emotes are dropping in nightfall if you didn't see that).

I bought 2000 silver so I had enough for the OCD racing book, air guitar and face palm. No way I could play Destiny pvp and not have the facepalm emote XD.
