I could see a scenario where Putin continues to push NATO member states until one of them is forced to respond, which means either all of NATO goes to war as required by treaty, or NATO caves, showing Russia they can push other states in their region around with impunity. Which, of course, might be preferable to nuclear holocaust, which isn't going to be nearly as much fun as Fallout makes it look. 2 RisposteRussia vs. China will be the beginning. Other regions will spiral out of control absent the strong influence of those two. U.S. and NATO involvement in the regional conflicts causes an out of control spiral leading to all put nuclear warfare. 90% of the land area is uninhabitable for the following 300 years and the nuclear winter that follows results in the loss of 97.3% of the population. The survivors do their best to rebuild, but things are never the same again. As a direct result humanity is too weak to survive first contact with the Kantari empire. We are absorbed and our planet divided up amongst their various factions. Humanity is essentially relegated to refugee status to be studied by various archaeologists over the years, but eventually the inferiority complex thus established leads to the species eventually dying out. But hey. That's a good 500 or so years out. And anyone reading this probably won't even survive the bombs or the famine to come. The U.S. Is especially hard hit.

None of the above if it does happen soon it will be an AMERICAN attack on Iran or a NATO attack on Russian fources in Syria followed by Russia China and Iran teaming up to fight NATO in what ever case leading to a ww3 conflict the bad part will be when we can't fight Isis and the Russia China Iran colalision so we bomb most the middle east turning them all against us and all out nuclear conflict pops off or the world is separated in to the western and eastern world's with no contact where some Orwellian shot starts being reality
