Only on the Destiny forums could new content anger the masses.
I just don't get it. We all know the problems that Destiny has had since launch. We all have seen Bungie mishandle and bungle way too many game decisions.
-Criticism is not bad.
-Holding Bungie to higher standards than other game companies because of their history is not unreasonable.
But at some point there's a line when it stops being about trying to better the game and complaining just to complain.
I was reading Google News and a GI article popped up saying Sparrow Racing announced as a special limited-time December event and I hopped over to the forums expecting to find celebratory posts...
And instead there are people crapping all over it.

First of all, Sparrow Racing was probably the first requested add-on when the beta dropped. Beyond that, how many thousands of posts ask for other special events besides IB to participate in?
Last month we had the Festival of the Lost. This month Sparrow Racing. Are they fixing all that still ails the game? No, but they're not making it worse either.
For all the pissing and moaning about lack of content, the fact that people just want to crap on it when they get it just makes you wonder if there's anything that would make them happy.
If you hate the game that much, I'm sorry. But it doesn't mean you have to take your hatred into every post that shows excitement about new content.
Edit: For all the complaints about it being a limited time event, couple things.
1) it is most likely a test run to work out all the kinks.
If it's successful and smooth it could very well become a regular mode.
2) it could be great as a monthly week long event like IB going forward.
I've felt for a long time there should be a weekly event every week alternating PvP/PvE. This could be one such.

7 RispostePeople forget that once they ask for something it takes time for Bungie to make. we can all see by the trailer that these races weren't just slop and reused content but something fresh. What I think everyone dislikes is the face that it's been 3 months since the release of the taken King and a big dlc with guns and a raid. what everyone is forgetting is that it takes TIME to make a raid, so Bungie, instead of leaving us in the dark replaying strikes or just jumping on for resets they're giving us sparrow races. My only dislike is that there is only 2 courses and this leads me to believe the overall community will say they dislike sparrow races because they're too repetitive. What could they have done better? •added and extra race track or 2 • make the event 1-2 weeks long to lessen repetition I'll probably have more to dislike or maybe not.

1 RispondiI never asked for or even thought of sparrow racing in the beta lol, only thing I wondered about the sparrow was "will they have weapon attachments?!" Lol. Destiny is so dry.

Sparrow Races looks cool for a beta , but all I saw was another DLC magnet added to the TTK exclusive so I call BS.

Trolls are just trolls and are easy to spot, i dont really care about them , let them do there thing, ignoring them is pretty easy. If Bungie cant see past them thats really pathetic. My only thing about the sparrow racing is why now?? Everything Bungie did has always been for some reason of there own benefit, thats ok ,moneymaking is there bussiness. They never explain much on this forum, so thats no suprise annymore( it a general pollicy from Bungie). Most negative responciss are made out of a lack of trust i think, to many lettdowns/expactations, legitimed or not is a hole different thing. There were just to many problems in this game from the start to just to exited about just sparrowracing alone. The problem is that you are always wondering what they are gonna take away when they are adding something, look at TTK, there was a lot of cutting content for many players there. Its good to stay possitive but its very hard to do with Bungie. So buckle up people, not only for the sparrowracing but also for the nerfing thats gonna hit us. Cheers.

2 RisposteUm sparrow racing is not content for a shooter. It's an arcade game like old FF snowboard racing. Monumental waste of resources that should have been invested "in the game". Buff or make 6 player parties for CoO, more challenge modes, more IB, refurbish old content, meld LFG into this dam app and cut off the 3rd party ones. It's like leaving for the day and the house is a mess with dishes all over the place and you get home to find your room mate played Destiny all day but didn't clean one dish or pick up their socks.

1 RispondiVery good post sols. Was I hoping for a little additional content to TTK? Sure. Sparrow racing is something that the community has been asking for, so I guess on some level they are listening. I just wish that instead of putting time and effort into this, and bringing eververse into play somehow, that they would put serious effort into addressing the bigger problems facing Destiny. I'm not hating destiny, I still play every day, but I'm not loving it like I used to. Is destiny dying? No not yet, nor would I want to see that. Just my opinion, but shouldn't the problems that exist now be remedied first, then move forward to racing and other activities, knowing that you have a solid base to continue to build on without the ghosts of the past lingering overhead?

It's not that Racing is bad...The timing is suspicious! With all the huge Nerfs about to be released, and "refer a friend" doing poorly... It kinda feel like they are pulling a "Oh look a PUPPY!" to distract and pull people off track. I also can't help but wonder with the next updates, if the "Refer a Friend" Sparrow will be made OP, inciting players to buy another copy of Destiny... But who knows, cross your fingers I might turn out alright.

To get them to do better, they have to be pushed. There's nothing wrong with giving credit where credit is due, but that doesn't mean that we should gush with praise and gratitude every time they fix some issue or add some little thing that really should have been in the game from the start. Bungie produced an empty shell of a game. When that shell is finally full and we have the product that was originally advertised, then we can start talking about their going above and beyond. There will always be people who will find something to be butthurt about, but I think most rational people can recognize those who have legitimate criticisms from those who just want to bitch about stuff. The best way to deal with those on the extreme is to simply ignore them.

1 RispondiBump! 1. Some people will not be satisfied with any additions unless they are the the [i]exact additions[/i] that they want most. 2. There is a vocal contingent in the Community that thrives on Bungie hate, and they become very loud anytime Bungie does anything that could be construed as positive. Without their hate - and fostering anger within the Community - they have nothing to keep them relevant. 3. Screw all that! Sparrow racing sounds like a ton of fun!

I always try to keep you centered and would argue any point that I felt cast the game or Bungie in a ridiculous/extreme light... Recently I've been somewhat of a negative nanny, and I even quit the game. Not because I wanted to, but because I couldn't deal with the extensive raid sessions with little or no rewards. To top it off I was DDOS'd two trials sessions in a row, which basically ate two days of my life... In many cases lately including bad raid rewards, The nerf of the black spindle, lowering the number of weapon parts, and little to no attention paid to stopping the rampant cheating, I have felt overlooked by Bungie as a player... then I saw challenge mode and it peaked my interest... Then I saw the trailer for Sparrow racing!!! And I've got to say, it's got me excited! This is 100% positive and has been something that the community has been asking for since the beginning. Not only does it feature the ability to race our Sparrows but you can see that they put a lot of time into it, as it is not just a point to point race on standard patrol zones. There looks to be new Sparrows, racing armor, and some tricky obstacles added throughout the maps. I don't understand how this community can make this a negative thing outside of Riling people up to generate likes or dislikes for attention... Finally something truly fun and different. This and challenge mode may bring me back. Either way, it definitely explains what Bungie has been working on recently. I'm stoked. Peace bro!

I swear people make posts simply to get replies and have players agree with them. Adding sparrow racing is a cool thing, not exactly what I want, but I know it's been asked for since this games beginning. Of course, the masses find something negative about it. Oh, I'm also pretty positive that it's not going to be just these 3 weeks. It'll be back with new tracks, sparrows, and gear later.

We asked for sparrow races during the beta because during the beta, sparrows were still fun to drive. They were NOT the tipy, unresponsive, fall on your face, disasters we are driving today. Prone to decrease speed randomly as the game chokes on loading the next area, topple over for no reason, or snag on some random object. I hope they fixed all this with sparrow racing. I hope that the new racing is as cool in practice as the video makes it seem. ("Gee guys, it will be great" says a retardedly optimistic ghost...) I seriously doubt it.

It could have been free dlc and they'd flock to the forums and complain that it wasn't the dlc they wanted etc. I'm highly critical of Destiny but this is something any day 1 player asked "how isn't this in the game already?" I too wanted a DLC announcement but this is a damn nice addition to our Events list. Can't wait.

Im glad they are taking a step in the right direction and did it without taking two steps back in the process. We will see if its any good but it already has more pull and content lol then hard mode and challenge mode combined for me. Good to see the wishlist being implented because i dont count the bs weapon parts or vault space.

Bump. This is the first post I've read since the announcement and I'm a little sad this had to be written. You can't please everyone I suppose and I guess the sting runs deep in those who are complaining. I'm excited. Sparrow racing has been a long standing request and I'm glad to see it coming. Doesn't mean I'm forgiving everything else and I'm still leary about the Ever verse piece in all this too. But it's sparrow racing man.

It's maddening because the game still isn't what people bought it for, and basically runs off repetition and false expectations on every new piece of content.

11 RisposteThe problem here is that sparrow racing should have been in the game a long time ago. In addition to that, people from day one were the ones who requested sparrow racing. Keep in mind that a lot of day one players do not even own the game anymore because they gave up. What you see here is a game company who is desperately trying to put together things that have been demanded over a period of time coming out now, due to the fact that they have a lost a lot of players to their game. I agree that's sparrow racing would have been fun during the year one activities, but there are far more prevalent issues that have come up in TTK that it is not the update people were looking for. The sad part is, people still play this game. Let this game fail, then let some other game company contact the people who made the shooting mechanics in this game, and apply it to a far greater game. That way, the few who actually give forth talent will progress and the people who made this game, and other games a nightmare of overpriced dlc and micro transactions in a premium game will be left behind. We should not support these business tactics. It's as simple as that.
