Recently got into an argument here on the forums on why we as americans have guns. All in all I gave an answer why so many of us love our 2nd amendment right yet only recieved hate and insults without any provocation.
Oh and apparently It's just because I'm a "hick"
So What are your thoughts on gun ownership gaurdians?

"Agree with 2nd amendment but support reforms" As an option, therefore picking neutral or commenting is acceptable as a response.

In order to clear up some questions directed to me, My opinion is that I obviously support the right to bear arms. I also am not entirely against reform to have a better screening for background checks, people with criminal history should not be afforded the right to a dangerous weapon with real responsibility when they have proven they themselves are not responsible with normal civil law. Severity of criminal activity would dictate the outcome IE- Murder, theft, rap3, or any other serious conviction.
However I do not agree with registration.
Time and time again the Government has proven ineptness with such matters and leaves to question just how much leeway and power they could use such a foothold on our sacred rights. I do not (as many others
I suspect feel the same) trust my government or have full faith they have our "best interest" at heart. They have proven they do not.

The more gun laws/regulations they implement the more issues we will have simply Because the people that really cause the problems obviously don't care about the "rules" ; so it's just hurting the actual honest people in the end. Personally I don't own any, which is odd considering I sell firearms... I have nothing against it, just lack the finances for what would definitely become a hobby lol.

2 RisposteThe second amendment refers to a militia. That does not mean you have the right to guns at any time. Also the amendmant was written in a time when that actually mattered. It can be changed easily it is an amendment after all

1 RispondiSo theirs 300-400 millionish firearms privately owned by U.S. citizens. I personally own a dozen, I have ARs, handguns, hunting rifles etc. I'm all for the second amendment, I also have no problem with more stringent background checks or even gun safety courses. However all of you who wish to do away with 2nd amendment, I ask what you do with all the existing firearms?

4 RisposteUnder the second amendment... "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." As a regulated militia, we have a right to have weapons. The big mistake my fellow Americans make. That being said, I'm all for citizens to have the right to have riffles and shotguns for hunting. We should be able to provide for our families. There is no need to have military weapons in the hands of average citizens though. And we should be regulating gun ownership more. No need for someone with mental issues to have access to weapons. Hopefully both sides in this issue can come together for sensible gun laws.

3 RisposteMy opinoin is this: The events in Paris would have had a different outcome, ie, a lower loss of life, if the citizens had the option of being legally armed. Clear terrorist/criminals dont see the same laws/guide lines as everyone else. Hypothetically, if the world were to eradicate all firearms, violent crime would not drop but instead be done more creatively. Hand Rock Stick Bow Gun Bow Stick Rock Hand Each weapon evolved into the next and restricting a weapon only reverts back to the preceding one. If looks could kill, they'd pluck out everyone's eyeballs.

It's a difficult situation. I wish guns weren't needed. It would be pretty awesome to not read about continuous violence. Sadly though, if we just got rid of guns, it would only create a vacuum for criminal enterprise. The law abiding would be more apt to be victimized by the lawless. Long story short, violent criminals don't care about the law. They would still get guns. They would be more apt to enter a house they believe has no guns. It's a viscous, self serving circle which I don't see a way out of.

I find it quite silly that the amount of deaths caused by guns are almost non-existent when compared to the deaths from health related causes, and yet we make a bigger deal over guns and trying to ban them than we do the fact that everyone is slowly killing themselves.

For those bashing the 2nd amendment.. *ahem* if guns were to be outlawed, only outlaws would have guns. All the law abiding citizens would be like fish in a barrel. So basically we would still have the exact same criminals that we currently have now.

All you got to do is look at the most violent cities in america, which also have the strictest gun laws. Being armed is not only a right...it is a duty as americans who are willing to protect their lives, land, loved ones, and their country.
