I don't have a seemingly endless supply of friends at my disposal to slowly drip into the game. Your gas card analogy is bad.
My problem with this is rather that improve the game to make players actually want to recruit their friends, they offer incentives incentives.
Their priorities are skewed, and now players like me, a solo player without friends to play with, are left out of more content.

We don't entirely know what we're getting in December. I don't believe all our prayers will be answered. But, Bungie knows. They're not stupid. They're loosing a large portion of their loyal fans. If they do care, whatever happens in December will knock it out of the ballpark

I mean, that would be great, but I'm not banking on it... To be frank, I just don't really think Bungie cares about players like me. I want things that will benefit the solo player. Things like end game solo activities, or an in game LFG. Them adjusting raid drops is great and all, but I won't benefit from that as I don't have a group to play the raid with anyways. I guess I'll cross my fingers...
