But you don't get these things because "Bungie doesn't like you" you don't get them because your 9 year old hardware quite genuinely can't handle anything more. 9 year old hardware. That's like using a PC from 9 years ago and complaining that it can't run modern games at max settings.

Get the Legendary Edition, less expensive than a $30 copy of he base game and Taken King.

This game needs to step up in this very very competitive marketplace. Supporting old gen is not going to help this. With games already progressing on current gen bungie needs to put in some serious work for destiny 2. So I'm afraid to say at this point your going to have to suck it up and realise that yes you are indeed going to need to upgrade.

Microsoft and Sony did state that they would support their last gen consoles for 3 years after the next gens release. Hate to break the news but we are pretty damn close to 3 years now. Start saving!

Yes playstation did get things first but after years of COD going to Xbox and halo being only for Xbox it was only fair (activision is partners with COD and destiny don't even go there) I do believe destiny was supposed to be only for PlayStation when it first release because bungie wanted to expand their sales I think it was in a game informer years ago (don't quote that) but bungie being the company they are switched and made it for both consoles because they didn't forget where they started at Xbox. I'm not one for the console wars but explain why Xbox gets tomb raider and PlayStation doesn't when tomb raider started on PlayStation?? That's like Xbox getting crash bandicoot and PlayStation getting the next halo that's bullshit. Furthermore new gen players don't have hardly any good games and the consoles have been out 2 years. So what we get a new emote and the refer a friend. Old gen has been out nearly a decade or so companies give you a certain amount of time before your left behind. This is nothing new examples HDMI tvs that don't have standard aux jacks (red white yellow) new cell phones with better features, Internet packages, he'll even car companies do this. Basically your time is running short you've had years to prepare for this save your money ask Santa whatever you have to do and upgrade its not just bungie or activision plenty of other games have already started doing this either your in or your outdated that's as simple as it gets mate I'm sorry you weren't prepared.

Bungie along with pretty much every other game developer is fazing out the older systems. I think bungie is actually doing a great job keeping it going for as long as they can because there are other developers who did worse things than prevent you from doing refer a friend or get halloween dances for micro transactions. Some examples NHL legacy collection instead of 16 on Xbox 360, because do you really want to play NHL15 with a new roster at that price? (I feel it may make sense for the diehard fans). Call of duty black ops 3 on PS3: only multiplayer and zombies, no campaign. And then you get the games that literally didn't even come out on the old gen at all lately. Let's face it bungie is being patient before they fully switch to the new gen consoles exclusively, which for them is hard because neither the Xbox360 or the PS3 can do a lot of the things the new consoles can do. So get your head out of your butt, appreciate the fact that you get more than just say crucible and enjoy it while you can! Perhaps saving money for a new console could be an option. In the mean time enjoy the game!
