They should have never taken away year 1 exotics to begin with. :(

I think they did kept some out and some in for two reasons. One, they wanted to go back and fine tune them, which is fine as long it doesn't take a whole year to do that. Second, I believe they wanted us to try out the new exotics out to see if we can find some new favorites. Let's face it, a lot of people would have been satisfied with using their trusty old exotics. We all know Year 1 exotics were better in most aspects than Year 2 exotics. I believe Bungie is trying to make exotics not overly amazing, which is a problem they had back in Year 1. I don't want exotics that are so good that they're the only exotics I use. I want all or most exotics to be usable in most circumstances.

But we worked so hard to get most of our exotics and then they were made useless. They basically gave us a small number of exotics to play around with while they took away 70% of the good exotics. I see so many ppl running the exact same set ups because theirs not many exotics to choose from. I miss my nothing manacles, thorn, and my achlyophage symbiote helmet. :(((((

They're still useful in patrol and regular Crucible. Hell, I've heard of people using Year 1 in Iron Banana and ToO and doing just fine. I used TLW, Felwinter, Jolder, and Symbiote to get the first part of the Jolly Holliday quest completed, I've used NLB to some success, I've used Plan C successfully on the Dreadnaught, and I used Ghorn while getting my NTTE. The old gear is still very viable in a decent chunk of the game, the only place where they put you in a disadvantage is in high-level end-game activities. After a year of playing with the old exotics, I wanted to play with something new. I know the whole leveling your exotics again is a bitch, but hopefully they stick with infusion throughout the rest of its lifespan so we don't have to do this every single time a DLC comes out.
