To Everyone Who Is Thinking of Quitting or Already Quit

Year 1 Destiny was amazing, but Year 2 Destiny was the iceberg that sunk the ship. If you have finally put this game away, you made the right choice. Destiny is a cancer in the gaming industry. Let me lay down a fact. The only reason you couldn't put it down was out of fear. You were actually afraid to fall behind. Over a video game, what should be nothing more than a way to unwind or kick back. Missing a reset startled you, and what of your friends? Friends in Destiny are paper thin. Quit for two weeks and come back, you'll realize just how thin it all was. Oh, you're in a clan? Cute, how many of those people do you actually play with? How about those clan activities...oh wait... Quitting Destiny taught me something. Playing other games reminded me of why I love gaming. Because its fun. It's fun to play games without stressing. Without grinding. Without losing out or falling behind by missing a day or two. Destiny was like that job you hate. You clocked in, started hammering away at your daily tasks. Asked your boss for a raise (Rahool) and got handed a terd and laughed at. Everyday you clock back in, doing the same tasks, going nowhere fast. Don't be afraid to fall behind everyone, because honestly, who gives a F#$%. Put it down, try a game that won't punish you for taking breaks, not playing daily and missing out on time gated exotics, and won't ruin friendships. Destiny is a game that punishes the players for getting addicted, and Bungie feeds it the fuel weekly with their updates that no one asked for, slowly increasing the cancer in the software. If you're actually enjoying Destiny, good for you! Gaming is suppose to be fun and we all have different tastes. Majority seems to agree its lost its spark, but do what makes you happy! Game on everyone!

You're absolutely right I realised I was logging on to do the same boring dailies every day, felt pressured to get the nightfall done and clean up other things like the weekly strike bonuses afterwards. One night after once again failing to make any real progress in Kings Fall with my clan I just thought "you know what? why do i even bother?" I used to put other more important things aside every week to try and complete the raid and it was the same crap every week. The rest of the team wouldn't listen and flap around like headless chickens and I just felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. So after that I hadn't logged on since. It's been great getting back to playing other games and not getting frustrated and stressed out. Fallout 4 is awesome I've put about 29 hours into it so far and I have so many things to do it's ridiculous. Need for speed is great fun and I've bought cod advanced warfare again cus I regretted selling it before and I really enjoy it , never been fussed about the black ops series (had to trade in AW to put money towards a new controller) What really did it for me though was earlier this week bungie brought out that new update. It wouldn't download because it said I had to clear more storage on my console even though I had 32gb left so more than enough for what should have been a small update. Looked on forums and it said people were getting the same and some people had to download the whole 18gb update again. There's no way in hell I was going to clear other games off my hard drive to update a game I didn't plan on playing anymore. Needless to say last night I uninstalled Destiny completely :) and damn it feels so liberating to know that even if I wanted to play it again I couldn't because I haven't got unlimited internet to download that huge update again. Last time I had to download it at my sisters. I'm planning to get star wars battlefront at some point as well cus I think it looks quite good. It's just so nice to get back to playing games as a form of fun and relaxtion instead of logging on to be frustrated. Games should be fun at the end of the day, and in the end Destiny turned out to be more hassle than it was worth.

  • I think the main reason I stopped playing was because they took most of the guns and armor away, they also said this was the biggest addition to guns and gear the game has gotten, (I just don't see it they added what 3 exotic armor pieces per class) the addition of microtransactions put a huge damper on things yes I'm fine with them in games when they are announced before the games release and they bring free dlc but Destiny did none of those things and sneaking that in after year 1 players already sunk $140+ into the game felt like a big -blam!- you, no future plan for this game seems to exist I just can't figure out where the store will go next the biggest addition to the story was getting kill this boss because he's the toughest at the moment, (meh I want to know about the traveler, Rasputin, or even the damn stranger) no good weapons exist anymore I know a few okay weapons are out there but where's the fatebringer or g-horn, New additions were a good idea but poorly executed one of the last times I logged on I spent 3+ hours waiting around at the court of Oryx to get a decent group and I never got more than two people above 280 light, and just in game content being removed the strike playlists is missing almost all the strikes I've had access to, dailies are missing 75% of the story missions, and nightfall sucks now.

PvE I don't care about too much but I love the PvP. If I get bored with Destiny I just play CoD. x)

Excellent Post. I followed Destiny since it was water-cooler rumor back in day (2009 I think). It's a shame what this game has become and more and more people are having that "light bulb" go off in their head. This game was to be the Star Wars of video games and Bungie exchanged that epic vision for a RNG abusive slot machine Skinner box. A grind in a video game should not feel like a job. It should feel like a mission or an adventure. A dev from CDPR told me they had RNG in The Witcher 3 and I didn't believe him. He basically said that they use RNG to add variety to Geralt's adventure and not as a tool to abuse or manipulate the gamer. That was the day I quit Destiny.

      • Great post man, hit the nail on the head without sounding the least bit whiney. I quit a month ago. Glad I did. I was playing far too much. Definitely think they made some big mistakes in TTK that's going to cost them alot of players.

"oh I left the game. Destiny sucks. Bungie you suck".. But let me suckle the teet some more. If anything, you and the rest of your thirsty poster buddies are a fun read.

          • I feel the same way about these things as well. Overall I still love the game but man the grind is old. I've played pretty sparingly since fallout came out and now I have Star Wars as well. Only time I can see myself playing this anymore is when I have friends online and we want to raid simply for the fun of it rather than trying to get some garbage gear. That being said I'll still be back to check out the next DLC in hopes that they change some of the things we hate.

          • Nice post Falling behind is never really a problem. And for these friends. I have found some amazing ones through destiny. Destiny broke up my old gaming community. It showed those that was self centered and only cared about themselves. Blaming other people for their miss fortunes. For example death by rocket because they fired it in the middle of everyone. And refused to play with other friends that just was not as good as the rest. Dictating fire teams and maybe during the week do another run for someone else. I only play with a couple of these people now on other games. Because as you stated they treated it as work or a dictatorship. Took all fun out of the game. I now through destiny have found a better community of friends. That will jump games to help me out or help someone I know out with me. I can go weeks without playing or speaking to them then have an invite to play destiny or another game and be just where we left off last time with the fun of playing. And it works both ways. Don't get me wrong been some bad people on the way some we thought was good friends but only wanted a trials run out of us or a hard raid completion and would never help in return. But it they are there You can find good people and enjoy different gaming experiences

            • Setting this game down today. Crucible used to be the only thing I liked about this game towards the end of Y1, and once I got done with PvE stuff from TTK, Crucible was still my go-to gamemode. 'Cept now it's nothing but Sunbreakers sitting still, hardcsoping chokepoints with their 1000-Yards of Aim Assist and only leaving their spot when they can turn into invincible tanks to murder the entire enemy team three times over, and then go back to camping.

BUT EVERY FREAKING GAME THERE IS LAG!!!!! Destiny destroyed his own game. Almost all of my friends are now playing fallout, halo or black ops.. So I think I will do the same.. destiny is over.
