Stop running from Sunbreakers!

(Posted this in another thread, but figured I'd make it it's own topic) The problem with Sunbreakers and why they appear to be so overpowered is everyone running from them. [b]Of course it's OP when your back is to it. [/b] Here's how to beat Sunbreaker when playing with a team (easier with fireteam, but totally doable with randoms, if they don't get scared and run) 1. Hear Sunbreaker 2. DON'T RUN 3. Space yourselves out a bit (you should be doing this anyway) 4. FOCUS FIRE (sniper rifles are great for this, but primaries work too) 5. Win Pay close attention to #2 and #4, they are in caps because they are the most important! [i]Also, for those who will no doubt say I don't have the experience, this is my new alt character, I've been here since the alpha. [/i]

  • Yesterday I got invited to a fireteam on IB...one of the guys said if you "hear" a titan pop his super everyone kill themself and let the count down revive you automatically. he said by the time you come back the super will be gone. He said something about the other team getting less points. People on my team was doing it. It was actually working. I think only one person died in 2 hours of game play from a sol of hammers.

  • LOL, I run and I run fast! Too many times did I get a titan down on health, he kills me, Gets all his health back and rekts the rest of my team. No thanks, I'd rather all scatter and play a mini game of hide and go seek so it runs down his super. :p catch me if you can, bitch!

    • Nope, I'll run and dodge as best I can to get them to waste hammers trying to kill one guy. I don't care if they get me, but that's 4+ people I saved in the process.

    • Running isn't a counter it's the only way not to die if he kills one of you he fully regenerates see the problem with team shooting

    • My arc blade super doesn't even take a titans armor off. His hammer 1 hits me. Bullets do nothing.

    • We ran from a sunbreaker in trials and he followed us, he ran out of super without one kill and then it was 3 on 1 and we got an easy kill. It's a good strategy that frustrates sunbreaker.

    • That's assuming the sunbreaker is by himself, then yes that tactic works, but the minute that sunbreaker gets 1 body to pick off everybody that is focused on him, than running and hiding is a better option, which happens most of the time

    • If I'm in a good position I will always try to land 1 snipe headshot. Most of the time I'm out tho. Sorry man you can keep feeding the other team kills if you want but 9 times out of 10 I'm playing solo or with 1 other guy. There's only a couple other people I trust to hit a shot under that kind of pressure and it sure as bell isn't going to be the guy next to me with a 200k medal score and a .95 kd. I'm dipping from that battle.

      I challenge Sunbreakers with blink/shotty. It's fun and most satisfying when you come out on top, or even trade with them. I took more Sunbreakers down than those who took me down yesterday in Iron Banner. If anything, they waste at least 3 hammers on me before/if they end up killing me. Best part about it is when they hurl a hammer my way, they turn for their next target while I blink-dodge it, and they turn back my way in a frantic, kill-hungry fashion.

    • Better to run. Titan gets no kills no orbs and is pissed they wasted a super. Or stand try focus firing have him get one guy and health regen and -blam!- team. Hmmm... Rather run

      • If you don't have blink, a hunter double jump, or Titan rocket launcher attached to your back there's no way to avoid hammers.

        I was playing Elimination last night and saw a Hammerbro get his head blown off by a sniper as soon as he ran out to kill us. I should have added that sniper guy as a friend. Back to your strategy, no, that *clang!* is a signal to run!

      • The reason people run from sunbreakers is because people tried fighting them and everyone realized that running away makes it much easier to survive, there's a reason you move out of the way of a bull while its charging. Simply put, what you're saying would work if all we were taking into account is that you need to kill the sunbreaker, problem is, that isn't the only thing to take into account, killing the sunbreaker will help your team, but it also leaves them as sitting ducks for the enemy team who can follow the sunbreaker in and mop up, furthermore, the points you get for killing a sunbreaker are almost always less then the points he will net his team for the 3-4 kills that the sunbreakers super will get them on average with a lot if people around. Even if we assume that you have enough damage to kill the sunbreaker with your team, there is still the problem of cauterize. Most of the time unless you get very luck or the SB tunnel visions onto one person you will open fire, take him down to about half health, then he'll kill someone, this leaves you needing to not only deal 100% of his health to kill him, but also whatever percentage of his health he regenerates as part of the cauterize perk, and while only regenerating a small part of his health may factor in, as long as he keeps throwing hammers and killing people, that regeneration will stack up. The fact that armor has become a lot more of a factor in the crucible + the cauterize health regeneration + the 55% hyper armor that sunbreakers get = A sunbreaker being incredibly tanky, surviving as long as he keeps killing, and even being able to survive things such as a sniper headshot or a golden gun shot. TL;DR: This strategy only works if you remove the factor of cauterize and the titans ability to heal from it, otherwise this strategy simply lines people up in an orderly fashion, and only succeeds in stopping the titan from killing two people with one hammer, which doesn't solve the problem

      • You forgot 6. 6. Get smashed by the guy's hammer and get angry because even if you and your teammate shot two entire clips at him he didn't die. Oh, and he got his health back.

                  • Sorry guy but no one on these forums will find you a reputable source until you are a little closer to 4000 grimoire. Just run the story mode and you will be there in no time
