How do you know that your religion is the right religion? What if you die tomorrow and learn that Islam is the true religion, or Judaism, and you've wasted your entire life following a false idol.
Religious people love to use the argument that you should believe in God because, if he's real, you're saving your soul, and if he's not, then at least you played it safe. But how do you know that you're playing it safe? Maybe you're actually offending God by worshipping him the "wrong" way.

Question for you... What if you die tomorrow and find out that religion is real?

1 RispondiHere's the thing. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, all take place during the same time. They worship the same God. The same situations happen, but each religion has its own story. Christians believe Jesus was the savior. Muslims don't believe that he was the savior, but he was a person. Same with Jews. All three religions sparked from the Prophet Abraham, and went off in their own directions at that point.

I'm pretty sure the Koran has a section that says that Christians and Jews are all good for Allah because it's the same god basically, they just got it wrong.

4 RisposteIf I was the leader of a despised people living in a desert, I'd write a children's story claiming we are the chosen people also.

1 RispondiI consider myself spiritual but not exactly religious. I like to toss this question at Christians though: So if the God of the jews is the one true god, and when the Israelites were just a small, tribal group of people in the levant who historically kept to themselves and did not evangelize, was the rest of the world totally fucked?

I'm still returning to my faith so right now, I cannot adequately explain why I know it is the one true religion. But I will say this: Christ is my savior. After years of being in the dark and living in sin, I finally came to accept that again. And ever since I turned my life around, inexplicable events and epiphanies have been happening to me. I am beginning to forgive those who have wronged me, I'm making amends to those I've wronged, and I'm beginning to love my enemies, something which I thought was impossible. The link above has some good information about Catholicism. I will say this though: the crucifix is the perfect symbol of Christ's power. In his death, (which he chose of his own accord), he not only turned an object of horror into an object of hope, but he also showed us how to live. When the world tries to persecute us, it does not understand that the man we seek to emulate, allowed himself to be tortured and nailed to a cross. With that sort of power, what could they hope to do to us? How could they hope to threaten us when Christ himself said "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Anyway, the link above is a good beginner's guide to Catholicism. Go ahead and check it out. :)

6 Risposte
How do you know that your religion is the right religion?
Faith
Religious people love to use the argument that you should believe in God because, if he's real, you're saving your soul, and if he's not, then at least you played it safe.
I would never use this as an argument. If you are "believing" in God just to play it safe, then you don't actually believe in God, and you don't get to heaven.

How do we know anything? We don't. Hence, faith.

Worship the Holy Rock Aegis!!!!

I don't. But I believe in God, that's why it's called faith (I'm not trying to start an argument, just giving my personal answer).
How do you know that your religion is the right religion?
I don't know if my religion is the right religion and maybe I will never know but that doesn't bother me.
Religious people love to use the argument that you should believe in God because, if he's real, you're saving your soul, and if he's not, then at least you played it safe.
No one should believe in something they don't want to believe in. You can't force your religion upon people, that's not how it works. Not for me. I don't even think that believing in God is the way to 'save your soul'. Being good to people and treating them like human beings just like yourself will and doing that doesn't have anything to do with believing in a God or not believing at all.

4 RisposteWe don't. But we hope we have the real one.
