Here is a post in which I warned of purchasable timed exclusive content
Don't get me wrong the Halloween event is good, but don't you sheeple see that it is just a way to scam money out of us?
If you buy any of those packages with cash then you my friend are going to destroy this game.
The next marketing technique is something to get more out of the time you put in, purchasable items that say work like three of coins or allow you to do multiple raids on a character. Effectively reset your characters items for money, not game breaking but a slow ease in to it so nobody makes a fuss.
Be careful guardians
(Edit) ugh I hate having to edit but too many people aren't intelligent enough to understand a few points.
1) I called the fact there would be timed purchases only obtainable with RL currency (dances) it's a simple marketing technique. Think about it, you might have seen an add on TV for say KFC or something offering a new item on their menu for a limited time. This creates urgency in a consumer so they buy despite not needing or really wanting it all that much.
2)eventually money will slow down on purchasable cosmetic items (this is the rule of the market) and the marketing team will release something different. This is why a new I phone comes out every year. And this is where the game will start to change.
3) these silver purchases aren't going towards dlc like you think. You will still have to pay $50 or equivelant depending on your country for the next dlc like TTK or HOW. This silver purchase goes towards events like queens wrath or say halloween event (surprise surprise, we paid for an event which is designed to make us pay even more. Well -blam!- me "marketing")
4) keep in mind bungie is a business. Business has marketing, marketing is about exploiting customers to suck as much money as possible. If people will pay for it then someone will sell it (supply and demand)
5) a little maths. 100,000 people pay for 1 dance (1% of playerbase) 20,000,000 players.
At $10 a dance that's $1,000,000
How much do you think it costs to make 3 dances?
Edit 2) I have not changed above post at all.
Below are some of the most common assumptions/weak ass arguments I keep getting. Before you tip your head sideways and spill stupid all over the reply button please read.
"get a job/you're poor." Anyone who can afford a console game power internet etc can spare $5 for a dance, it has nothing to do with this.
"You are a kid in your parents basement, get a job." Even if I was (I'm not unfortunately I have to work) then my dumbass parents would probably give me $5 if I asked seeing as they're stupid enough to support me.
"It's only cosmetic" my whole point is that I like cosmetics, but in this game it won't stay that way.
"You called me sheeple so now I'm upset and your (yes your) stupid" I called people that are blind to simple marketing techniques and the obvious trend this game is following sheeple, if you catergorize yourself as such then basically, sort your shit
Oh oh and "free dlc" <------ the hell do you even stay alive from day to day lol plz survival of the fittest my ass
.
3 RisposteYou seriously used the term sheeple, which makes anything you say irrelevant. I'm sorry, man.
-
3 RisposteWow not sure why it bothers you so much what others do

9 RisposteModificato da NobodyJustBrad: 10/28/2015 3:44:26 PMSo... We're breaking the game by purchasing items that make our characters look different and don't even have any light on them? Sure... Okay... They didn't MAKE you pay for any of these things. And so what if they are events that have more items for people to buy? Plenty of people who never spent a penny on the microtransactions enjoyed something they were given for free.

4 RisposteWaiting on the christmas santa hohoho belly slap/rub emote. Seriously, I know how marketing works. My uncle does it for a living with a rather large company. Still I spend more on coffee and breakfast sandwiches in a week than a whole dlc. So theres that...

2 Rispostea money scam you say? maybe i should tune and donate to your twitch channel so you can explain more to me about a money scam
*heavy sarcasm if you couldn't figure it out
2 RisposteBungie and Marvel in my eyes you tell me WHEN and I'll buy it. There ain't to much stuff I love. I'm an adult. It's called disposable income

7 RisposteYour insight on the matter is ruining the forums. Your opinion on bungie just shows your immaturity. Your lack of silver shows you bank statements general level. And your understand of what destiny is shows you can't understand simple concepts. Your level of entitlement to everything in the game without having to pay more money for it only shows me that you're a spoiled little bitch. It isn't pay to win. It won't be pay to win You can only pay for dances at the moment. But to answer one of the questions I seen you ask, the one about how much it costs to make three emotes, Id say it costs next to nothing to make the emotes. Unless you take into account of any copyrights for using he thriller dance Or the Carlton, which could told be trademarked. Or you take into account the money spent already building the game engine to even build the emotes in the first place. Also. If 100,000 spend 1,000,000 that's 1,000,000 that bungie now needs to acquire to improve the game. Or add new events. And last but not least. BUNGIE DOES NOT WORK FOR YOU. YOU DO NOT OWN BUNGIE. BUNGIE IS A BUSINESS. IT NEEDS TO MAKE MONEY OTHERWISE IT WONT BE ABLE TO MAKE VIDEOGAMES. JUST LIKE HOW MCDONALDS CHARGES FOR FRENCH FRIES. YOU DO NOT GET EXTRA THINGS JUST FOR BUYING THE FIRST PART. YOU DONT GET THE WHOLE COMBO JUST FOR BUYING THE SANDWICH. IF YOU WANT MORE FRIES IT COSTS MORE. It's people like you, that just want to bash BUNGIE after they made a game that you are passionate enough about to COMPLAIN over, that are ruining this game as well as the forums. Stop being stupid. Stop being spoiled. Lose the attitude of entitlement and you'll probably start to understand how the world works.

5 RisposteI'm going to buy 6 packages just to shut you up.

1 RispondiThe technique that they are using is call "Nudging". A little here and a little there and before you know it you are at your goal line.
-
2 RisposteWhile I see where you're going and agree with many of the points you make, I will say I don't feel it would be a crushing blow to the game for them to have that pay-to-win aspect unless and until they start offering new weapons that are only available through real currency purchases. That said, I don't want to see it go to pay-to-win format, but that doesn't mean I think it's a huge 'end-of-the-world' issue either.

1 RispondiHey chicken little the sky isn't falling calm down. We're talking emotes and cosmetics not exotics.
-
2 RisposteIt's a business, you've already mentioned. Business needs to thrive. What's your point? If the players want to pay for in-game items, so be it. They do it in many other titles. There is no perfect system and business will continue to march forward whether you like it or not. For every one of you that refuse to buy anything, there are 20 or more who will gratefully "throw money at the screen". Deal with it.
-
1 RispondiI'm realizing that microtransactions are a lot like religion. If you like it, awesome, buy whatever you want. If you don't like it, awesome, don't buy anything. But don't for a second think it's okay to tell other people what they should believe
-
1 RispondiUh are you stupid? Do you really think they drew up this Halloween event in a couple weeks? Did you never consider that they already had this planned, hence why tess was reinstated a couple weeks before this to give people a taste of what it's all about. For number 1 edit is so -blam!-ing stupid. Your example is absolute shit. You say that they tell you about timed deals to force urgency on people? You act as if everyone gets all fidgety when there's a deal or something, your example only applies to probably less than 1% of the playerbase, hell maybe even just half of 1%. Keep your baseless fear mongering elsewhere. Tl:Dr. Op wears way to much tinfoil and needs to shut his phone or computer off indefinitely.

I know Bungie wants my money. But doesnt every Dev? If I feel like spending I will and if not then its because im smoking it.

I'm just gonna sit over here and watch things burn... It's rather soothing... Oh sweet! Thriller dance!
-
1 RispondiIf you dont want to buy silver then don't. A dance and an emote is not game breaking get over it.
-
2 RisposteLol. Where'd you get that spiffy tinfoil hat dude?
-
1 RispondiIt's best just to tell these people do what they want. Sooner or later they will realize they screwed up then you can point and laugh.
-
Self restraint and everything about scamming or making you pay money is invalid. If you find value in it, it's your money, and thanks for funding future content. It seems terrible, but as long as these things remain cosmetic then it's actual a good thing. Well, it could be a good thing. If they use this money to actual fund future content, all new content will be free, therefore creating a less fractured player base. The people who can afford it and find value in the items can help fund content for those who either can't afford it or don't see the value in the cosmetic items. Everyone wins....that is as long as it continues to remain cosmetic.

1 Rispondijust go away. ;) you are the weakest link, goodbye.

1 RispondiFu ck off and die you prick.

1 RispondiWow you made two posts about something you think might happen. Also another person telling others how to spend their money. Go play a different game if it bothers you so much!!
