Final Edit:
Originally this post was supposed to focus on how the community was preemptively defending the addition of microtransactions, but at almost 1,000 replies later, it's kind of mutated into something else. Also, I probably won't be responding to anything in this thread anymore. It's outlived its purpose, so just let it die.
Recent data mining has revealed some new items in the form of consumables that buff things like XP gain and drop rates. It is still speculation at this point, but the timing of these items along with a few other clues points to most of (if not all) these items being available for purchase at the Eververse trading company. Let me say it again; this is currently mere speculation, but fairly well informed speculation nonetheless.
AND PEOPLE ARE ALREADY DEFENDING IT
They are saying the benefits are small, don't really matter or give anyone any sort of an edge (already bullshit.) But seriously, though. In response to an argument I've already seen far too many times:
Pay-to-win does not actually mean pay to win. It means paying real money to get an advantage over those who chose not to. We payed $140 dollars for this game with the expectation of being put on a level playing field, fairly competing for in-game goods with the expectation that effort must be put in to get what we want out. In a game in which, from launch, it was made clear that while the game was free, players could (and would be encouraged to) exchange real money for in game goods, this system works and is perfectly acceptable. But this distinction must be made clearly and immediately. For Bungievision to now be blurring the lines between the two, while enjoying the benefits of both, is unacceptable.
By the way, notice how things have been going around here for the last few days? First, it was "I'm okay with emotes, but shaders should stay as things we earn."
Next, "I'm okay with cosmetic items, but nothing that will help in gameplay."
And now, it's "I'm okay with small beneficial items, but nothing too big." So then, what's next?
Sooner or later, this is happening. Take a stand.
And now, a message for Bungie:
Very soon, Destiny will be facing quite a bit of new competition from games like Fallout 4, Black Ops 3, etc. This is no time to be testing the loyalty of your community. There has already been a large outcry against this, and many players have already threatened to leave. Please, Bungie. Don't do this to yourselves, to destiny.
(I'm still not entirely convinced this isn't all just a plot by Activision to get people to jump ship to BO:3.)
And if any of this does come true, my fellow guardians, have fun on Bungievision's wild ride to an empty game.
Sorry if this all seemed a bit incohesive. I just wanted to get this all out there.
EDIT:
I think quite a few points being brought up can be explained by reading the following comment chain in this thread:

View replies, read original comment first, then my rebuttal, and so on.
EDIT 2:
The drop-rate buff items have been denied on Twitter, but all points made here are still valid both on principal alone, and if/when this is considered in the future.
But this is good. We made noise, and forced Bungie's hand to address the issue. Maybe this community does still have influence after all?

2 RisposteCrying about it now will accomplish nothing. If they cross the line then the outcry needs to start. All this preemptive boohooing is just annoying.

All of the fanboys will immediately criticize you based purely on the whole "data mining" bit. Hm, it looks like they already are. The Mouth of Sauron said there would be more surprises lurking in the weeks ahead. I have to wonder, in the end, who will the fools be? Will the fate of all fools ultimately be dumping money into this game for the sake of convenience? Blarg.

Modificato da Zegram1010: 10/14/2015 8:40:09 AMNo matter how you look at it its not pay 2 win unless the regular player can not acquire said items In game. It's pay to save time at this point, its a slippery slope, but it's dirty from them because they were a buy 2 play product that is trying to add free 2 play elements into their market... It's money grubby as all hell.
-
I kinda hope Bungie is doing this on purpose to make people quit so they can have less moaners and can focus on better in game stuff rather than all the little complaints. Make consumable items for money, people leave in a couple days, start giving those who stayed a free consumable a week (because those who stay either won't buy it and don't care and will still play, or will buy it, so not much of a big loss because those who left weren't gonna give them thier money anyways). I mean less people always complaining means they can make content and have less people moaning, and then have to make less changes and have less costs that they will pay for with the people who pay for the microtransactions and dlcs, so please let people leave already, especially if you have a better K/D than me ;)
-
For me personally if it turns out these new consumables can be gotten in game by grinding (bit like converting flakes with eris for better raid drops item)then I'm fine for them to also be available to buy with silver. If it's only sliver then that will be bullshit.
-
1 RispondiWhen you put in 750+ hours into this game, then you can complain about a level field. You spend 140 after year 2? Shit I spent 60 at release and 40 for each expansion. You have zero issue asking or complaining about things 'not being fair'
-
oohhh no, someone well get alittle more exp then you. damn motes of light so hard to get.

12 RisposteModificato da Lepar Messiah: 10/14/2015 7:53:21 AMDude shut up. People pay alot more then you did for this game on others and there is still a cash shop. Literally this does not effect you even a little bit. You get free dlc but others get to ruin their own game and fun by progressing faster then others. Literally does not hinder your gaming experience. If people want to ruin their game its on them.

My issue with this form of gameplay is simple, the game creators will make it to where if you don't use the increased drop rate items, you will likely not ever see drops that are decent. This will promote frustration and get people on board with paying for their advantages. This means anybody unwilling to pay will have a clear disadvantage. It's the same mindset on mobile freemium gaming. Pay to build faster! It'll start out as cheap boosts, probably 4.99 for 10 consumables or something along those lines, then as time goes it'll start getting ridiculous. 99.99 for 100 consumables and limited color scheme! It's upsetting to say the least. Once they know you'll pay for the items to get an advantage they will start going nuts. Weapons, armor, sparrows, everything limited edition pay items. Eventually you'll only be able to be max level with bought items. It's a trend in mobile gaming they are adopting to take advantage of gamers.

3 RisposteModificato da PlayerOneShow: 10/14/2015 7:32:22 AMThis microtransaction "situation" that we are in could very well change the course of gaming history. It's not just Destiny. But it's a pattern nonetheless. I have no clue what the video game industry is going to look like in 7 years time. But I don't sense much good in terms of long term progress in satisfying the consumer.

6 Rispostei laugh at poor cryhards like you while doing the Carlton.....

I will quit destiny when they release exotic engrams packs for money.

Shut up ffs...is this all you people do! -blam!-iing moan... So what that guy bought, heavy or special synth....or gun exp. WOWWWW!!!!
-
The day they do this is the day im done, I love the emotes they're hilarious and awesome, but the moment it becomes more Than cosmetic im Out, I hate what the gaming industry has turned into, pay a shitload of extra money to get an item that gives you an advantage over others in a raid group because you have a higher chance of receiving gear, seriously stupid when I fork over $180 for a game I expect to be on a level playing field especially considering how much we've already payed for dlc
-
3 RisposteWhile I don't disagree with most of the items, they should fix the drop rates in King's Fall instead of selling a consumable to regulate it. If we don't stand against this "speculation" it will only get worse from here. They'll start selling Legendary and Exotic packs or something. If you give someone an inch, they'll take a mile. Especially if it's profitable.

3 RisposteThe day this comes, is the day I quit! Alpha/Beta/Day One player, Played since Halo 1

This goes live, I'm done with em. I got Halo 5, FO4 and Battlefront to look forward to. And as soon as they drop I'm setting Destiny aside. For good depends on how Bungie handles it's new cashshop. They are really not making it hard to leave the game.

CANT WAIT FOR HALO 5!

1 RispondiFor only 19,99$ unlock all exotic weapon/armor quest from ttk for an extra 39,99$ u can complete them all. What you waiting for guardian? Show everyone how much time you spend ingame!

Modificato da GANTZ: 10/14/2015 7:46:10 AMthey should add "Pay to Enable matchmaking for everything" consumable items , of course only for one game/instance so id have to buy more each time i wanna play the game , like that i could pay money to have in game social features as in all other online games , maybe if matchmaking was paid with real money lazy bungie would finally program it into the game

Modificato da Mandalore_99: 10/14/2015 8:26:23 AMI can't believe any idiot is excusing this bullshit. Day 1 bungie and Activision go back on their promise to keep it aesthetic. I will quit this game and Activision forever if this comes in. I didn't like the addition of micro transactions and this is why. The companies get too greedy and it destroys an excellent game. Increasing RNG odds is virtually the same as selling the gear. I'm not putting up with it and neither should any gamer. It ruins the essence of what gaming is all about. Achievement. Hard Work. Adventure. Meaningful Rewards. Would you ever buy a game with nothing to earn for triple the price? No. It'd be boring. It takes the variety and excitement out of gaming. Most importantly it takes the sense of accomplishment out. This better not be true or it will ruin one of my favorite games (and publishers). Please don't go back on your word Bungie. Edit: I'd like to reiterate this is the worst thing a dev can do. Promise non-advantage micro transactions then do it anyways. I'd rather pay a monthly fee to play destiny rather than watch rich snot little kids spend 100s on the game and be able to call themselves MLGs.
-
I want to be clear, I am not excusing this But This is the future. The slimy, terrible future. That Destiny somehow managed to stay away from this kind of horseshit for this long while being attached to a dollar-vacuum like Activision is amazing. There's a lot of very, very valid points you can make about this, and hopefully those of us who still maintain a keyboard-warrior bent will dump the appropriate amount of shame on Bungie and their So-Evil-It-Might-As-Well-Be-A-Blue-Hologram-Telling-Them-To-Complete-The-Deathstar-Publisher, but considering that, by all accounts, Bnet's mods and admins are going into full-on Orwellian damage-control mode, I'm certainly not going to bother. And just a piece of advice from someone who fought kicking and screaming back during the Reach days when Bungie was defending rank-caps, locked out MP maps and ludicrous competitive rank systems: Don't. It's pointless. You are yelling through sound-proof glass while the folks at Bungie stand on the other side going, "Goodness, he certainly is upset about something." The only thing you can do is refuse to buy. Hurt their wallets. Nothing makes waves like coffers coming up a little lighter.
