BEHOLD. This is the future you are creating for this game and potentially other AAA titles.
Why does this community hate Destiny so much? I need to ask this question, because if you were any kind of actual fan who loves the concept and potential of this game from back in 2013, why do you continue to destroy this franchise? If you spend money on Destiny, you are hurting it. Period.
Vanilla Destiny? We were duped into buying an incomplete game.
Dark Below? We were tricked into buying something we thought was going to be an actual expansion.
House of Wolves? We were manipulated into buying what we thought was fixing our major gripes, such as ascending older weapons.
The Taken King? You had no excuse. NO ONE had any excuse. Bungie/Activision got their three strikes. How many months were we screwed over time and time again? How many on here complained and protested and demanded change...only to go ahead and continue buying the product? You want a voice, you want things fixed or features added. But unless you actually put weight behind your cause, unless you choose to JUST SAY NO and pull the needle from your arm? Then you can never truly expect anything you want to see ever really happen here. YOU are your own obstacle standing in your way.
This is simple logic. Its common sense. Now look at what we're seeing happen here. Look at what has been allowed to happen. And I bet your FIRST REACTION to this post is "well its not really that important." If that is your mentality? You only have yourself to blame for what ends up happening down the road.
You seem to think that because this is Bungie that everything is just fine. Its all on the level, right?
That's just a delusion...
ACTIVISION has been at the front of this from the very start.
The people you loved at Bungie no longer with the studio? Activision.
An incomplete game at launch with a butchered narrative? Activision.
Cut Content from the game sold as DLC in the form of false expansions? Activision.
Unfair Pricing of the new expansion? Activision.
Paywalls being thrown up to effectively block players out of content they already paid for? Activision.
THE INTRODUCTION OF MICRO-TRANSACTIONS? Activision.
Emotes aren't a big deal, right? Who cares. Its all just cosmetic anyway.
What happens when its Weapon Skins?
What happens when its Guardian Customization Options? (Premium Options)
What happens when its Random Engrams?
What happens when its Random Resources? (Motes of Light, Strange Coins, Upgrade Materials, etc.)
What happens when its Legendary Weapons/Armor?
What happens when its Exotics?
What happens when its Etheric Light 2.0? ($1.00 each used to upgrade ONE Weapon or Armor from Year 1)
How far will it be allowed to go? Do you have any say in it? Of course not, because you just keep spending your money on it. You have become addicted. Your favorite game was hijacked and corrupted by Corporate Commander years ago. In your denial of this, so much has been allowed to happen.
Bare in mind, this is the precedence you are setting for Destiny. This is Stage 1 for micro-transactions. They are "easing you into" the notion of Destiny having an in-game Cash Shop and they are telling you that there will be "free story content" being gradually released because its a trade-off. But you have zero clue what you are really trading off here. Go ahead and watch the video. Take a look at your future.
In case this hasn't made it rather obvious, Bungie, I am 100% AGAINST this Cash Shop concept. There WAS a time when I would have been alright with it. But that was long before everything else that has already happened. Its painfully clear that Activision is calling all the shots and now Destiny is nothing more than a Halo/Borderlands version of COD.
Those Emotes and new Skins should be added to the game for anyone who purchased The Taken King, NOT USED TO TRY AND SUCK MORE MONEY OUT OF THE COMMUNITY. This is NOT the kind of innovation I have been advocating for and its not something ANYONE should be encouraging any further. I know and you know that TTK was the last of all the Year 1 Content that you had and now you need to spend the rest of this year developing more to be sold, and the "free story content" is only there to keep giving the addicts their periodic "fix" to keep them hooked.
That content is either already finished and was kept out of TTK so as to be released later at intervals or your have a small team assigned to make new missions similar at best to the Taken War quests. Fact is, none of that is really "FREE" though because people already paid for it. Year 2 is all about this new Cash Shop which you'll be expanding over the following months.
I'm still waiting for my original $100 investment to equal the value of its cost. I demand Year 1 Content be overhauled "FOR FREE" so that the game I bought back in 2014 is an actual complete product. THEN. Provided you fix the broken, or rather non-existent progression system for this game, THEN I will possibly consider the notion of buying something. MAYBE. At this point? I see very little reason to do so.

Destiny is las vegas for consoles, children allowed!

5 RisposteI was ranting about games ripping off kids aaaages ago.. interesting point about the gambling age restrictions. ... because it is gambling.. with real money. Have they found a legal loophole to let children gamble here or is it actually illegal?

3 RisposteThey made a lot of money. That's all they care about. They certainly don't care about all the crying on the forums. The forums comprise less than 10% of the player base. As long as they continue to sell they could care less about your essays. Lastly. Bad news is better than no news right. Every time someone posts, plays, or utters destiny it is good for the game no matter what they say. In summary, if you find yourself as someone who truly hates destiny and what it stands for then stop playing, stop posting, and move on.

I need to ask this question, because if you were any kind of actual fan who loves the concept and potential of this game from back in 2013, why do you continue to destroy this franchise? If you spend money on Destiny, you are hurting it. Period." This statement is false. Period. End of story. It has been fabricated out of whole cloth. And yet there are those who believe it. Who sign on for the experience of it. Who want to cling to you and listen to your every word where Destiny is concerned. I have purchased and played the Taken King. I purchased and played Destiny last year in September. I've had my gripes, but never once did I shout "I HATE DESTINY! THIS GAME SUCKS" Destiny has improved considerably because of the taken king, not in spite of it. But what's more important than that Malphisto, is that Destiny is a game. A game. It has, is, and ever shall be a game. I've read enough of your posts to know what you want this game to be. And it will never be that. You claim to have such vast experience with video games and that, plus your expertise and knowledge, somehow is supposed to elevate your opinion above the masses. Yeah, no. Not so much. You are certainly entitled to your opinion. No question there. But posting post after post about how Destiny sucks because it hasn't met your expectations is just childish. Immature. And self aggrandizing. So who am I to say any of this? Well let me borrow a page from your book and tell you why I'm in a position to state that not only does Destiny not suck, but the taken king is quite good, and anyone who has played Destiny over the last year should most certainly purchase TTK. I've played video games for at least 30 years. Maybe more. I've owned almost every console that has come out since the super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Not to mention PC gaming. I know good. And I know bad. Defining experiences like Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Mass Effect. Racing games like Gran Turismo or first person shooters like Halo, and before that, Goldeneye. There are so many others that I can't even think about right now. The point is, Destiny is nowhere close to bad. By any stretch of the imagination. It is not a heaping pile of garbage. And it does not deserve the hate you throw it's way. Your hatred is unwarranted. And still you ramble on. I'm not trying to change your mind, only offering an alternative opinion about this game. People enjoy it. And because they enjoy it they will continue to support it. They will buy expansions and whatever other content becomes available. And why? Because it's a game. A video game. One that has some of the best, if not the best, shooting mechanics of any game on the market today. Destiny will continue. With or without you. No amount of "boycotting" is going to change that. You withholding your money is not going to effectively change anything or bring about the desired changes you have for Destiny. And you need to know that.

So there are a few statements you made that I don't agree with, but I'm going to leave that alone because the overall intent of this post is something I can agree with. One thing I'll point out is that there will be no free expansions because of the microtransactions. Kotaku said it would happen, but Kotaku has a spotty rep for a reason. I've linked an article quoting some higher up at Activision about it. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/destiny-microtransactions-and-expansions-can-co-ex/1100-6431944/

19 RisposteHey I got a funny idea.... While there are many truths in this I have one thing to say.... if you do not like it that much.... STOP!! STOP playing, STOP complaining, stop paying and stop posting.. I have some problems with destiny but I will continue playing because I enjoy destiny... and.... AND... if and when the day comes that I decide it's not worth it anymore. I will simply by a new game and be done with it......... It's really that simple folks.

While you were making excuses, justifying every greedy Bungivision tactic, these guys were standing up for gamers and trying to protect the integrity of Destiny and urging other gamers to do so. You called them (and myself) cryers, whiners, haters, entitled... Now it's all yours. Make up any excuse you want. Take one look at COD for a glimpse of your future. Everyone hates BDobbins right? He called this shit out before anyone. It's funny how the so called "Haters" have been right about everything. Remember "Throw money at screen"? Well this is what that phrase was all about. Now it's all yours and all of you that support this game deserve this bastardized money drinking version that is inevitably coming to you. Congratulations.
