Omg the exotic sword quest "a sword reforged" step 1: THE GRIND IS REAL
been at this step for 2 and a half hours. Why did they make this so time consuming?
Edit: Yes i am a day one player, to all those people calling me a 'year 2 scrub'. Check my inventory
Edit 2: The 1st step in the sword reforged quest is the one where you have to collect 10 rare materials and 500 ability kills.

For the kills do the mission with the Hive where your Ghost says "we've woken the Hive" I used Bad Juju, Supered all the thralls etc that rush you, LEAVE the Knight, re-gained my super and wiped. It went fast, but being a day one player I am sure you knew, I just wanted to throw that out in case it helped you or others. The mat farming I found worse, it went real slow for me, last part another guy was running around in the same area and we helped each other with mat nodes.

I got both arc and void sword done just one more to do. Doesn't take too long. Just don't expect to get it done in a day (unless you have a whole day to do it).

Youll never ask for those materials again... Spinmetal, relic iron, or spirit bloom... Ever got 500 spinmetal before i got all 10 legendary materials.

Go see shaxx and get a ghost that tracks the material u need. Made it sooooooo much easier for me. A buddy of mine had to do the void kills with a defender Titan so it could be worse lol!

I don't know about what material you need, but I did mine on Mars. I found a good farming route for it, got it done in 1.5 hours. 1000? Mine was only 500 ability kills. I farmed The Dark Beyond.

1 RispondiBack in the day. I'm talking like when over half the destiny community was still in diapers. (around 2003) we had games that required a day of pure grinding with huge aoe parties to get like 5% of your level. The same was required for longer to get legendary hear drops and they weren't even the ones for your class half the time. Then there was the sieges and shit. Move up a couple years and you had to carry people through their benchmark quests to get a decent amount of exp.... Rough times. Those games are all power creep'd to hell now so you can hit rng in a couple hours unfortunately. So sad

2 RisposteTo edit 2: that is NOT the 1st step. That's more like the 2nd or 3rd...I'm on the same part...1000 kills does take forever. I've been doing strikes and I'm still at only 36%. I have heard crucible is faster though, but I hate crucible lately.

Its no where near 1000 kills. I've done it twice (even did void kills with the Titan) and it came out to a little over 500 both times.

The Crucible one was fast. Working on 50 majors

1 RispondiIt goes faster in crucible. I think it's somewhere around 100 ability kills in the crucible.

2 RisposteI just finished that part yesterday, it was a brutal couple days. I got the arc farm done last night. Gonna hold off on my void sword. I'm not looking forward to the farm on my Hunter but I got my arc sword coming Wednesday so it'll do. I wanted to get the solar sword so I could do them all at once but I didn't feel like running my warlock.

Get a ghost that shows the material ur after. Look down ur sniper.

All I did for arc is head towards the rocket yard from the divide. Go to your far left( in a cubbie looking area)and check for spin metal. If not go back to the divide and back again until some spawn up. When some spawn up pick it up and quickly head back towards the divide and back again to repeat. You can keep this up as long as nobody else picks it up.

2 RisposteGot all 3 of my swords in one week. I hope I am now permanently done with mat farming. Ability kills is easy, if you don't finish while trying to get mats, just load up siege of the warmind and kill everything except the Knight at the top of the stairs and wipe...rinse, repeat.
