Using LFG I found a group of people who, like me, haven't done the raid yet. Full fireteam of raid virgins.
Two guys were on YouTube looking up how to do each section and then explaining it to the group.
Our communication was impeccable. Everyone listened well and added insightful input after each wipe.
5 minutes in it became clear to me why so many people want experienced players only. Even with YouTube vids each section took several tries.
It took 4.5 hours to get to and fight the War Priest. The jumpy ship part took literally an hour and a half to get everyone across.
It was fun though because we didn't have any elitist asshole yelling or kicking people. It was 6 guys with zero experience figuring it out.
Even though we didn't finish, it was one of the highlights of my destiny career.
Edit: so after a day of commenting I'd say it's about 80/20. 80% positive and 20% who think it took us too long or using vids makes us scrubs.
I'm a super casual gamer. I don't have the time required to figure these things out. I really just wanted to pop in, kill a boss, get loot, and bounce.

You're absolutely not a scrub. You're playing the game as it should be - for fun. You went in and you experienced a new thing fresh, and enjoyed it. I haven't done the new raid yet but when myself and my fireteam look for others to join, we'll look for people like you!
-
I hate elitists, I'm all for kicking them. I, however, lack patience. Lol I can only deal with so many wipes before I get tired of doing it.
-
7 RisposteYou technically didn't "figure it out"...
-
1 RispondiDid you get the team back together to try and finish the raid? If so how far did you get?
-
At least your guys were willing to learn from their mistakes. There are too many kids on LFG who just want to be carried at Oryx checkpoint.
-
Me and my friends did exactly this, although we didn't YouTube it we just guessed, took us ages to get to the warpriest, there was tears of laughter and pain but it was hands down the most fun I've ever had playing destiny. Highlight being 5 of us stood at the end of the jumping puzzle while one still struggled back at the beginning.

5 RisposteImpeccable means good lol
-
;-; I wish I had your luck.

+1 for thread

4 RisposteI was able to instantly figure out the ship bit. Idk why people have such a hard tiem with it. #warlocksmasterclass

Modificato da MitchDaPotato: 9/29/2015 3:57:27 PMSounds like my clans first raid attempt, except we decided to try every encounter Tudor two hours before looking up how it is done
-
2 RisposteThe jumping puzzle.... How are people so terrible at parkour in Destiny?
-
Hell yeah that's awesome! Raiding is a blast and hopefully you made some buds there
-
Git gud
-
Jumping puzzle isn't difficult if u don't know where you are going. Just jump to any ship that comes near you.
-
I'd be giving the boot to someone if I had to wait and hour to get them across jumps. They can rejoin once the next section starts.
-
I believe the raid is awesome requires a great level of team effort to overcome the encounter.
-
Looking forward to doing the same! Great work, duder!
-
Understandable. Some of us have lives. I'm casual myself as I haven't gotten to play destiny in about 3 days. Why? Because getting some is far more important to me.
-
6 RispostePfft... anyone on the Destiny Forums who says that they don't look at vids is a goddamn liar.
-
Great job guardian! We did the same, we didnt use google and figured it out ourselves. It was extremely fun and satisfying to say we didnt use any help :) If you ever need a group to raid with or anything and you are on Xbox 1, my clan and I love meeting new people and we are on everyday.

Casual gamer here too, just did the raid for the first time yesterday as well. We had 4 experienced players, and myself and one other who didnt do it yet. They were super helpful though, took the time to explain to us what to do in every part, ran a few practice runs to get the hang of it for each boss fight too. Really helped me understand it better. Wish i remembered their gamertags id love to give them a shoutout lol. People need to remember that just because someone hasnt done the raid yet doesnt mean theyre a bad player. We got the whole raid done in about 2 and a half hours, and was definitely some of the most fun ive had playing destiny. Helps when you get a team of laid back players instead of the tryhard assholes.
-
Dude - it's a game. If it ain't fun, why do it? If finishing a raid is fun for someone, then they should try to finish. For me, I get MUCH more satisfaction from having fun people around - even if we goof off. Like when we play around on the ships. Everyone starts on the first ship. Last man standing is the winner. This means you have to try to push people off the ships or knock them off course while jumping. It's a friggin' blast.
-
Are you a new raid person also because you said 6
-
Or the guys who can't wait 5 minutes while someone explains what to do to a newbie to the raid. We had 4 guys quit because they couldnt be patient while my friend explained The Daughters to me. Get over yourself and learn patience.

1 RispondiGood job bud! The reality is, and I've found this to be SO true, you don't need experience to win a Raid, you need people who are willing to work together and be a team. I ran LFG a few times to get to Oryx and in all situations, I ran with people who had seen the mechanics, but had never actually did the Raid itself. In all situations, the Elitists (ones who huffed and scorned once they found out we hadn't actually completed The King's Fall raid) were horrible to work with and spent more time blaming others versus playing the game. Once they left and we got another noobie, like us, we prevailed without much trouble. Last night we defeated Oryx. Wasn't that hard once we figured out who was best at doing what. That's the truth of it though. Having "experience" means nothing, if you can't get along, work together, and be a team. My raid team would take 100 noobs who'll listen and do what we say, versus 1 Elitist who's too perfect to make mistakes. :D My raid rewards last night were the Pulse Rifle and gloves (along with quest items). We'll be raiding again on Thursday around 6pm cst. I will have Touch of Malice by that time! Just gotta finish Phobos! WOOT!
