A question for anti-gay Christians:
What is it that makes homosexuality a special sin?
There are lots of sins in the Bible. Working on the Sabbath, wearing mixed fibers, eating shell fish or pork, women speaking in church, divorce, killing, adultery, stealing...
In some contexts almost everything above is excused or even encouraged!
So, please, explain why homosexuality is worse than the above.

2 RisposteA lot of Christians don't hate gays. I'm a Christian, I don't hate gays, everyone sins, homosexuality is another sin. Lying, stealing, murdering, homosexuality, and adultery are the same. ALL SINS ARE EQUAL TO GOD.

3 RisposteI am Christian. I honestly do not care about homosexuality. I fully support it, and have friends that are gay. I personally am not gay, but I can't stand people criticizing others for what they stand for. It's your life, choose how to live it.

The reason it is receiving so much attention is because it is being legalized and is almost being force fed to us. As a Christian myself I do not think it is the church's right to use the government as a way to legislate morality though. The government should be a protector, not much more. A lot of people try to use Old Testament covenant law (I.e. Work on the sabbath, no pork, etc) to make some argument for the "okayness" of homosexuality. But that argument doesn't work, at least not in the popular evangelical circle of Christianity. Jesus came and expressly fulfilled and replaced the old covenant law with a new covenant. But, in the New Testament, homosexuality is still undeniably prohibited. [spoiler]when I get home, and can get to my notes and bible I'll provide some references for you.. [/spoiler]

The reason for this is because this is the 'perfect' form of a marriage, we strive to be like god and we also strive to be perfect (strive to be, we are in no way perfect) The father is supposed to provide financially for the family, the mother provides for the health/care of the children directly (for example when you get sick your mom takes care of you) If in a family the parents are (for example) 2 fathers, you are missing the mother figure that would care for the children directly, sure one of the fathers could take on this role [i]but[/i] it wouldn't be a perfect fit. Another reason is because we have been asked to "replenish the Earth" with children. 2 of the same sex cannot do this without a third party to help, in this case it would not be a perfect family as well Hope that cleared some stuff up EDIT: if you want to read about some of the stuff i said, look up "a proclamation to the world" on google, it should talk about alot of the point i said

There is nothing bad about homosexuality. The books that part were written in come from the original Pentateuch, written by the Jews who thought being gay was evil. Nothing bad against the Jews, but that's just how they thought back then.

What they forget or don't know is that their definition stems from Mosaic Law, specifically Hebrew Ceremonial Law...its not "gods will", its something made up by those who follow Abrahamic Faiths thousands of years ago. Christianity and their stollen (from Judaism) customs should not be forced upon the masses. That's called a Theocracy, and the first amendment of the US Constitution forbids that in the United States. Religious Zealots attack homosexuals because they are an easy target. A target that is historically not protected by law. But now that they are, Christians believe it's an "attack" on their faith...because somewhere along the line, Christians self proclaimed that all laws stem from THEIR chosen deity.

Same goes for all other religions (or lack there of). I'd say that it's about the individual. Whether or not they have any social disfunctions or come from a bad home. Religion may be a good excuse for them but really it comes down to how much of an ass you are personally. But that's just how I feel.

I am Christian and I do believe in god that is my opinion. However I don't see why others can't love each other even if same sex. Honestly we are supposed to love our neighbor but only if the meet x requirements? It feels weird. So I decided I won't judge someone based on who they love or what they like, but that's just me.

18 RisposteHomosexuality is a sin, not a special sin. Just like adultery, killing, stealing, and others. You also have to realize that because of Jesus we are not bound by some of the things you mentioned. The dietary restriction, working on sabbath, and others. Under the Old Covenant we were. However, Jesus fulfilled the law to make the New Covenant. I am a Christian and I don't agree with homosexuality, but some friends I have are gay. I don't agree with it but they are still my friends. We are supposed to love each other, loving someone doesn't mean you agree with them or support that aspect of their life. You still should love them and help them.
